Down the Rabbit Hole

Caroline Lindell was naturally curious, just like her cousin Alice. Alice had golden hair, Caroline had brown. Alice had pure blue eyes, Caroline had a green eye and a blue eye. You could say she was a corrupted clone of Alice herself. Though she did have her differences from her. Caroline wasn't as you call the "adventurous" type. Despite her natural curiousity of things and looking into certain things, you couldn't call her the type of girl wanting to jump into a dangerous situation.

Caroline lived with her aunt and uncle until the fire ended up killing both and put Alice into the asylum (I'm going to have the storyline now based in the American McGee version for the start of the story my OCs in wonderland will be changed due to the corruption and I'll post their list up after this), so she was put into a Foster home. Caroline didn't even know where her cousin Alice was anymore. They wouldn't even tell her where Alice was whenever she asked. Caroline thought she was dead in fact... And just seemed to forget about Alice.

One day, Caroline took a walk outside the orphanage she was staying in. She walked out into the forest, but soon found out she travelled too far. Although she was just 12 years old, she knew it was a good idea to head back. Just as she was about to though, rain started to pour down on her. She looked through the tall grass and saw a mansion up ahead. There was a statue next to the place. Her eyes widened as she spotted them. 'Is that...?'

Caroline ran as fast as she could, getting closer to the house but getting more and more soaking wet. She came up the gate, slipping through, and then stopping as her mouth gaped at the statue. "Alice..."

The rain started pouring even harder now and it started to thunder. It was too late to turn back around, so she continued to the house. She exhaustingly climbed up the stairs, breathing heavily as she took the final step, then rang the doorbell.

As quick as Caroline had rang the doorbell, a girl (though most say she is a boy) opened the door to her. The girl was notably older than Caroline by a few years, but Caroline was slightly taller than her height. The girl looked at Caroline with worry. "Aww, you poor thing!" she told her and took her hand, leading her in quickly, "Come, sit right here."

Caroline was plopped down onto a red couch and quickly given a blanket, pillow, and a robe to wear while her clothes were drying. The girl then gave Caroline a mug that was designed with a painted Cheshire cat to the side of it. Once that was all done, the girl sat in front of Caroline, giving her a smile. "Thank you for your hospitality..." Caroline uttered.

"Don't worry about it, it's nothing," the girl smiled, "Anything to help keep you warm. You must've been outside in that rain for a while."

Caroline nodded, "Yes... I was taking a walk and came out too far when it started to rain... I came here out of curiosity and hopefully warmth..."

"Well you're warm here and welcome to stay as long as you need to until the storm blows over," she offered.

"That's nice of you to offer... um... sorry... I don't know your name," Caroline said nervously.

"Oh I'm sorry. I never introduced myself," she laughed in embarressment, "My name is Jesse Jackson, the owner of this house called Wonderland. Who are you?"

"My name is Caroline," Caroline answered in response.

"Well it's nice to meet you Caroline," Jesse replied, "So... what was the curiosity that brought you here?"

"Well..." she hesitated, "I became very curious after I saw you have statues of one of my family members outside... I wanted to know if it was really what I saw or the rain was just tricking me..."

Jesse seemed to think for a minute and then blinked, "You mean that Alice is a part of your family?"

"Well... was is more like it... She was my older cousin," Caroline replied.

"Was?" Jesse asked.

"After a fire started in our home... her mother and father died and I don't know what happened to her... the people that brought me to the place with other children told me she was somewhere where they could help her... But... I don't know if that's a lie or not..." she said.

Jesse became sad after hearing that and hugged her. "You poor thing... I'm sure she's all right, don't worry."

"Thank you..." Caroline replied then heard something go off in the other room.

"Oh, there are your clothes," Jesse said to her and hurried off, then returning with them, "here you go, you can change in the other room."

Caroline nodded and hurried into another room while Jesse picked up the cups to wash them. Caroline hurried, putting on her black dress and apron then put on her black and re striped socks and boots. Before she went to go out of the room though, she looked and spotted a mirror. She was puzzled when she looked at it though. It had an image on it that wan't in the room.

She inched closer to the mirror to see a rabbit hole clear as could be. Her eyes got wider and she blinked at this curiousity. She couldn't help herself and her hand touched the mirror. The mirror reacted quickly and something dragged her in as she screamed.

Down the rabbit hole she went, landing with a thud on some grass. "Ow..." she said and rubbed her butt where she landed, "I think I broke my tailbone..."

Then she heard growling and a manged dog covered with some fur but had muscle. "Who might you be?" the dog growled, "You nearly look like her... nearly sound like her... But you aren't Alice... so... who are you?"

Caroline looked at him surprised, "You know Alice?"

He growled, "No... but she was the one that corrupted this place..."

"What? How could she do something like-?" Caroline was cut off

"She created this world... and you created some of us along with it," he snapped.

Her eyes widened, "Chester?"

"Now you remember... Caroline..." he turned around, "Come with me, I'll explain."
