'Drabble' time, very bored so I thought I'd post some of my hopefully future story. If you do read it please comment as I'd like to know opinions and possibly gain some tips.
Warning though, it's not realistic in any way shape or form.

Slowly, Wolf got up from the hospital bed clutching at his injured ribs as pain spiked through them. He turned to Cheetarah and gave a strained smile, she was capable of kicking his ass all the way back to his home planet and it was likely she was about to do so but Wolf was too stubborn for his own good and just had to insist on proving himself to her. He stumbled a few steps away from the bed and starightened himself as much as possible.
"Ready?" Cheetarah's tone was laced with boredom.
Wolf gave a quick nod, the pain evident in his voice. "Sure."
"Liar."
Cheetarah closed her eyes for a brief second and took a deep breath. The idiotic boy before her was closer to death than he truly realised so she knew she'd have to go a little easy on him. But not too easy. She smirked to herself. The pupils vanished in her eyes and they began to glow an eerie white, a black shadowy dragon seeping from underneath her to take a proud and deadly stand behind her. She clenched her hands into fists and punched the air, the dragon leapt into action flying straight at Wolf and knocking him into the air and onto his already injured back.
Wolf pulled himself up, grunting at the effort. "That all you got?" He grinned at the shadowy dragon and its' owner, unsure why he was being so cocky as that attack had threatened to take his consciousness. He stood back up slowly, swaying like a drunken sailor.
"No, but I am not allowed to kill you so please next time stay down." Cheetarah recalled her dragon spirit and waited for the cocky teen to steady himself.
Wolf snorted, waving a hand in the air. "No chance."
He braced himself for an animal shift, his bones started to crack and his shape changed, pain erupted through his over taxed body and a scream tore from his throat, splatteres of blood dripping to the floor. As his body shifted to that of his usual canine form he thought for certain he'd pass out as soon as it did, it had been a bad idea to shift so soon after his attack.
"Stop it, you're killing yourself." Cheetarah growled at him watching his shifted canine form as it sagged and he panted heavily, blood trailing from his mouth and staining through his chest bandages.
Wolf shook his head, forcing unstable legs to move forward until he was awkwardly running. Growling painfully he lunged at Cheetarah flying through the air and straight for her throat.
The healthier and more experienced girl grabbed his muzzle, snapping his jaws shut. Eyes glowing, she threw Wolf across the room and made sure he crashed into the medical table that had previously been used to patch the injured shapshifter up. Wolf's broken ribs connected painfully with the sharp corners of the medical table, he yelped and slumped to the floor, too weak to keep the shift he reverted back to his human form. He whimpered and grabbed weakly at the floor, trying to push himself back up.
"I said stop it." Cheetarah's hand clenched into a fist and a shadowy tail wrapped itself around Wolf's throat, cutting off his air supply.
He choked and shot his hands up to his neck trying to pry the tail off but it only wrapped itself tighter. Weakened by lack of oxygen his hands fell away and slapped uselessly down at his sides, eyes drooping as he started to pass out.
Cheetarah looked down at him, satisfied he wouldn't try to get up and fight again she unclenched her fist, the tail dissolving into thin air. Her pupils returned a second later and her sight readjusted allowing her to see the full extent of damage that had been inflicted on Wolf during the little fight. She had further broken his broken ribs, cracked his skull a little further and had nearly suffocated him to death. A twinge of guilt bit into her stomach as she bent down to him. "I'm sorry." She slapped his cheek lightly to keep him awake but it was useless, he'd already lost that battle a few moments ago.
