I had an anarchist-esque thief character who hated the world once. This reminds me a lot of him, actually, and I kinda wish I I had done him for my prompt response instead, now that you mention it.
It would be interesting to hear how he's doing now, maybe with a few more years under his belt.
I get the emotional, but elaborate on the physical. I think suicide scars might be present given the circumstances, but any others from occupational hazards?
I have to agree with NightBeck. A little modification of this character and he might be good to go with another story. Hey, I still have the characters when I was a young kid. I just modified them up a bit. Though I am still not sure on what to do with them.

I know exactly what you mean about characters you can't quite give up, no matter how much you look back on them and go "Holy crap, how emo was I?" But the thing about those characters is, they might just show up in the writing you do later, just in a bit of a different form. It sounds like you have a lot of affection for this character, so maybe you'll find a use for him someday! :D
