We can look for it on Youtube when I come back home. :D And I'm sure she would let you. I saw it, and I'm pretty sure I did cry... :'D But it's violent for a purpose, you know? So I don't think she would say no because the violence is just an important reality that he had to face. And since I saw it, it couldn't have been too shocking (or I just closed my eyes during the shocking parts...)
Oh, okay..............
;u;
Thanks for warning me. xDD
That's what I was wondering. You could probably find it on YouTube, though. :o
No, I haven't. I do want to, but I don't know if Mommy will let me, and I'll also probably cry a lot. ;u;
DON'T ASK. JUST REMEMBER THE NAME AND NEVER LOOK UP ANY INFORMATION ABOUT IT. EVER.
I did because I wanted to know what it was about...
NO.
But yeah, you're welcome. I will gladly spare you. Haha.
Oh, wow, Passion of the Christ anime???? I wonder how good/intense it is. I've never heard of that before. Haha. Did you watch Passion of the Christ?
I haven't either....I seriously was in the middle of fixing my spelling mistakes for that title and clicked the post comment...I had moar to say, too...;m; But I don't remember what else I wanted to say.
xD Okay...! I've never even heard of it. :V Thanks for the warning. What's creepy about it? Or should I even ask....?
By the way, on a sort of relevant note, did you know there's an anime version of The Passion of the Christ?
(???)
I've never seen it, but I think someone told me about it once.
I need to tell you something...
if anyone ever recommends that you watch the video Fantasy by DYE... NEVER DO IT. I've never seen it myself, but it's kinda in anime art-style so I don't want you thinking it would be cool to see... I've heard its so creepy... SO CREEPY....
Well it depends on the story you're writing. You're essentially writing love stories with conflicts centering around sexual orientation. If you want to express these characters in other ways, you have to put them in different situations. And it's not bad if you mostly focus on sexual orientation and perception of sexuality; it's just what you're interested in writing about.
EDIT: Or you're interested in revealing the stories of people who are "unconventional" or "outsiders" and your way of doing this is through sexuality.
EDIT EDIT: Also, real people live. Your characters can only be known through stories. Don't feel guilty for only portraying them in one way because they're not real people. Real people don't get to tell all their stories either, even though they get to live all of them. Also, not all aspects of a person's life are story material, anyways.
Also, maybe to make things a little clearer, here's what I'm saying: If Rick was a real person, he wouldn't "just be gay" or asexual, as the case is. He'd have a reason. If he was a real person, he'd have experiences in the past that make him into his present-self. I'm sure you get that. Anyways, it doesn't matter too much. It might not be relevant to think about those things in terms of your story, anyways.

Oh, thanks then. .u. Still, I don't think I'm seeing things 100% the same way that you do.
I'm not sure when any of this will ever come up in comics/writing, but whatever. xD; Although, I feel like I focus too much on sexual orientation already. orz I don't want my characters just to be remembered for having detailed sexual orientations (?), just like regular people don't want to be remembered only for their sexual orientation.
What I was trying to get at was more answered by your last paragraph when you said that growing up, you were taught that girls should like guys. I would imagine that there is usually an event or a series of events that lead someone to decide their sexual orientation. When did Rick have a choice to be asexual? What caused that line of thinking that you just described? These are very tedious questions, I know, but perhaps they're worth thinking about for developing people from your characters. You don't have to really care about these questions, though. I'm just asking you in case you want to delve deeper into the lives of your characters. I am personally very bad at character development, mainly because I get tired of figuring out the fine details, so I'm not asking these questions to say "I do this, so you should do this". I just want to ask these things to get you thinking. You don't need to respond to this comment with answers to my questions; I don't want to put that pressure on you. These are just things you may want to think about on your own.
Haha. xD I was thinking of Drake Bell in his t-shirt, and how he was kind of rather skinny......... .u.
Also, sorry ahead of time for the long comment. I get rambly when I'm not exactly sure what to say. xD;
I don't know if this is the answer you're looking for, but here's what I've got: For Rick, he has no sex drive or desire to have sex with people. This could be related to low testosterone levels, or it could be completely unrelated. (I don't have any science to back up low T being related to asexuality.) Rick himself isn't really conscious of it, and he just thinks of himself as homosexual/gay because he doesn't know about asexuality (which I don't think it unusual, since there are people who don't know about it). For him, sex and love are unrelated; that is, someone can be in a long-term romantic relationship (ie: with hugging/kissing/other romatic behavior) with another person without specifically having sex. So I suppose the reason he's asexual is because he's more concerned with romance than sex. Again, he doesn't think of himself as asexual, but more as a person who doesn't mind being a virgin. The reason I made him asexual is because I don't see him as the kind of person who would have sex. I made him to be an overly-moral person, so it wouldn't seem right if he had those kinds of desires.
With Dailen, he's aromantic asexual, which is someone who doesn't have the desire to have sex or participate in romantic behavior. So there is a difference between them there.
As far as the other characters go, they have their reasons. I won't always know the why because I'm not completely inside the heads of all of my characters. Stefan's most likely bi because he's a pretty pragmatic person; he doesn't see why he should "leave out" the other gender. Or more accurately, he sees people as people rather than as male and female. He's not asexual, but he has a lower sex drive than say Gabe. For me, I think some people are just born with higher or lower sex drives than others, with asexuality as "zero" on that scale and hypersexuality on the other end. In my mind, sex drive is unrelated to decision--for me at least, it may be otherwise to others. I know my libido is pretty low, but I didn't really make that decision myself. I've sometimes thought that it was a decision, because I have the "ability" (I'm being sarcastic) not to swoon over attractive people. But me being able not to swoon is not the reason I have a low sex drive; in fact it's the other way around: because my libido is low, I think it's strange to swoon over attractive people.
So what I'm getting at is that I don't necessarily think that someone's sexual orientation stems from something, but rather some behaviors stem from someone's sexual orientation.
Not sure if I'm really answering your questions here, but yeah. In actuality it's probably that some people have reasons for being gay/straight/bi/etc (bad experiences with a particular gender, culture, etc), while some people don't have reasons for being so (maybe just think a particular gender is more attractive than the other, etc). I don't think of myself as having a reason for being straight. I think girls are attractive (hair, clothes, make-up, etc), but not in the same way that I think guys are attractive. I didn't consciously think to myself "I'm going to think guys are attractive." The reason could have been growing up I was taught to think of guys as attractive, but even girls and boys who grow up in similar environments may be something besides straight.
But anyway. The amount of decision involved probably depends on the person.
/long
/sorry
/I'm not concise
Best description of one of your characters yet: "Drake Bell in physique." Hahaha. Just kidding, but it was really funny when I read that. xD
Does Rick have a reason for being asexual? Does he think male parts are icky but he likes the personalities of men better than the personalities of women? Growing up, how did he become that way? Just some things to ask yourself, I guess. Actually, it might be worthwhile to think of this story for all your characters who are gay, straight, bi, or anything else. Maybe there's a meme you could do for it. But since the sexuality of all of your characters seems to be important to defining the character, you might want to think of what reasons the characters chose for becoming this way. (Because, to me, it is more of a choice to be gay or straight or bi or asexual than it is something that just "naturally happens". I'm straight, but I don't think it's because I was "born that way.")
Feel free to ponder about that.
EDIT: Also, I definitely thought Dailen was spelled "Dalien" and thus pronounced D'alien. Hahahahaha. Whoops.
