Meeting

Has it been days? Months? Years? I don't know anymore. Time doesn't seem to matter like it did. Everything just blends together; melting into the same day over and over again. It could have been only hours since we've escaped the fire and still I wouldn't have noticed.

"Faith?" Sake moved around my jacket and I felt his scales brush against my neck. "Faith." He repeated.

"What?" I could tell my tone was hard and my cloths settled in around his body.

"Faith. Did you hear that?" Without stopping I side stepped quickly aside of the busy street, letting my ears steer me towards a quieter street.

I didn't know what strange town I had stopped in; and I didn't know how far away from my home it was. But I did know that if Sake felt that we were in danger the Alliance wasn’t too far behind us. How long since I had even shown my face to another was to long to remember. But I didn’t think what I had done was forgotten even now. How long was it since that day? Not long enough.

"They're coming Faith. How did they find us so fast? There is no way that we where recognized that fast." Sake moved again under my jacket and I felt him move towards my legs.

"Maybe they're not coming for us." Again I felt my voice crack. I had used it more than I had in years and I could feel it faltering under the heavy use.

I let my footsteps slow as I felt eyes drawing closer. It was now or never. Sake dropped from under my jacket and I stepped over him quickly unbuttoning my jacket. This would be close. Where ever I was tight and cramped and the masumune would do little good here. Even so I pulled the still sheathed sword from my belt and dropped behind a wall. I could hear the steps of many people drawing closer; and by the heavy tread I knew they were all men; and all from the Alliance. Making sure my hood was still held low over my eyes I stood and waited.

And like the men of the Alliance I knew from so long ago they swore and cursed boots running over garbage and pounding the street. I smirked. Things haven't changed and they were still arrogant. Sliding the masumune only a few inches from its sheath, I listened and I waited. I had no want to fight them.

“I know they went this way Sir!” A rough voice called out followed by curses by what I assumed was their leader. Their PETS sniffed the air and I heard my own breath escape my lips. Their leader yelled again but what he said escaped my ears.

“THERE!” Again they took off running past where I stood and I knew that I was not their target.

“Faith.” Sake slid around my ankle and I waited for him to continue. “I think they are after another Un-Aligned.”

“Let’s hope so.” My voice was rough and gravely. I wonder if this really was what I sounded like. Sliding my masumune fully away I left my jacket undone and the sword loosely in my hand. Snapped my head around I heard yelling and someone shooting.

Break Water

Fire.

I could see fire in the horizen. The bright colours rising and flaring in the sky over the mountains. This was bad. The trees around here where dry, and the whole forest would soon be devoured by the flames.

We had to move.

I turned from the window and moved quickly twords where I kept my things. I sliped two small knifes into holders on my boots for cooking, and grabed my long jacket from the table. It had taken almost a year to build this home for me and sake; and it would take only moments to destroy.

"Where are you going Faith?" Sake asked winding his way around my legs.

"Fire."

Sake stopped moving and turned his head to look at me. His golden eyes searched mine for for answers.

"When will it be here?" He asked, as I stepped over him and grabed my Masumune from its shelf on the wall.

"Soon."

I opened the door for the last time and steped out into the fresh air, Sake slithered through the grass ahead of me.

There was no need to shut the door.

We were not coming back.

Heaven Forbid

---Jake---

I run toward the make shift town, adrenaline pounding through my veins. A raid is supposedly the best part of guarding! And I can't wait to take part in my first one!

"Strike to kill! Leave no survivors." I repeat the command from the briefing we had. Mercury looks up at me, "May I eat the ones I kill?" she asks. I make a face, "No!"

We enter the town, and the rest of the Guards split up according to orders.

Suddenly I see a yellow Canary swoop down toward an old apartment building. As I watch it fly in, I see a face. Looks like I found where to go first!

I run toward the apartment, and wrench open the door. Mercury and I take the stairs two at a time toward the apartment. When we get there I wrench open the door and run inside. To girls stare at me, one looks fierce and ready to fight. The other just looks scared. But, they're both young teens. Kids. I can't kill kids...

---Charlie---

I waste no time, and pull out my knives. I crouch slightly, ready to fight or flee. Rafe gets between Ayla and the door, and chirp flies high above us. The guard gawks at us. After a minute of this, I cock an eyebrow. "Aren't you supposed to attack us now?" I ask. He looks startled, and slightly confused. "Well...Yeah. But you're a child." he answers hesitantly.

I laugh. Hard. I can't help it! Heaven forbid he attack a child. The Guard blushes, while I struggle to get my calm back. "If you're not going to fight us, may we leave?" I ask. "No." He says quickly. I shrug, "To bad." I say, "And I was just starting to like you too."

---Jake---

The girl who seems in charge run forward and attacks. She aims low, at my gut. I dodge her, but refuse to strike back. I'm not going to hurt a kid! This girl looks maybe 13 at the most. She comes in again, and I knock her away, quickly moving into the room so I would have the advantage.

She pull back and glares at me. "I'm not falling for your stupid trick." she spits at me. I'm confused. "Trick?" I say, "What trick?" She rolls her eyes, "You're trying to make me tired so you have a better advantage! I fell for this trick once, and was almost killed for my trouble. It's not happening again! So you can go ahead and fight."

I nod, realising she won't give in with out a fight. "Mercury." I say in Latin, "Attack, but don't do any long lasting harm. I do not want them dead!"

"What did you say?!" The girl asks me, I put on a fierce, uncaring look. "I told Mercury to kill you." I explain. Her eyes widen, and she opens her mouth to say something. Just then, Mercury runs forward and pounces on her. Mercury hits the girl with her paw, and the girl sinks to the ground. The other girl stares at me, and starts to cry. "Please don't kill her." She says softly. I open my mouth to say I wouldn't really kill her, but something hits me. The wolf! It knocks me down to the ground and I hit my head. As I black out I see the other girl running toward the first. Then all is dark.

So much drama.
