Welcome my little corner of the Otaku!

Thoughts and Impressions is where I record the wonderful adventure that is life

.
Here's my little bio :)
Animation has always been fascinating to me, I never quite grew out of cartoons. I actually like and watch American cartoons more than anime, but Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, any film made by Miyazaki, and Tekkon Kinkreet redeem the genre. As for manga, I only love and collect two series: Hana-Kimi and Rurouni Kenshin.
There are so many American cartoons I love! Family Guy, Venture Bros, Batman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Danny Phantom, Teen Titans, Invader Zim, X-Men Evolution, Tom and Jerry, and Robot Chicken.
Then there's the whole list of animated movies! Treasure Planet, Road to El Dorado, The Chipmunk Adventure, anything Don Bluth (especially Rockadoodle and Thumbelina), most classic Disney movies, The Iron Giant, The Paigemaster, Persepolis, The Incredibles, and so many others!
As for non-animation some favorite TV shows are: The Office, Scrubs, Mythbusters, Dirty Jobs, Firefly, Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, Batman (1966 Adam West), Red Dwarf, The Red Green Show, and BBC Robin Hood.
Of course, there's movies too: Muppet Treasure Island, any version of Treasure Island ever, anything Jane Austen, Secondhand Lions, Death at a Funeral, Noises Off, Newsies, Singin in the Rain, Dr. Phibes, Stargate, Star Wars (ep.4-6), Psycho, and so much more.
My favorite Asain drama right now is Young Warriors of the Yang Clan

In case you were wondering, yes I do have a life outside of watching TV and movies. I am a sophomore in college and a theatre major. Some of my favorite plays are The Rehearsal, Titus Andronicus, August: Osage County, All I Really Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten, The Producers, The Big Bang Theory, Doubt, and Proof. I find time for reading as well, and I love The Artemis Fowl Series, Treasure Island, anything Jane Austen, Jane Eyre, Frankenstein, and Jekyll and Hyde.
When I am not reading, drawing, or being hypnotized by the TV, I am out gallivanting with my friends, spending time with my twin, antiquing/thrifting, doing homework, at rehearsal, going to the nearest Jane Austen Society meeting, being with my wonderful family, daydreaming, drinking green tea (which I love immensely), taking pictures, wasting my life away on the internet, playing arcade games, and traveling.
Random: My two favorite superheroes are Batman and Spiderman. Nightcrawler, Wolverine, and Gambit are my favorite X-Men. Celebrity crushes are Hugh Jackman, J J Feild, Harry Lloyd, Fahrenheit members, Christian Bale and Sean Patrick Flanery. My favorite spoof is Yu Gi Oh: The Abridged Series.

Art Trades and Requests

....are miss/hit with me. It honestly depends on how busy I am. Please forgive me if I forget and PM me with reminders so I'll remember.
If you want a request, most anything from any of the lists above will do.

Alas Poor Yorrik! I knew him.... IN AMERICA!!!!

ALMOST 100!!!!

Hello All!
Well, it's been a pretty eventful week, I almost had a legit summer haha. My college friends came up to visit and my sister came back from Japan(she's a Japanese major) all in the same day!!!!! It was one of the best days of my life ^_^. Yes, so despite my sister's jet lag and my friend's long hard drive up to PA, we went to go see my other friends play. He doesn't have a major part in it or anything, but we all wanted to see it anyway. God had other plans. It started raining like 5 minutes into the show, and it got called off. Meh. But we ended up going back to the hotel and just goofing off anyway, which was nice. I enjoyed interacting with everyone together. So tomorrow it's back to work again. sigh. At least it's theatre work, though, which makes it a whole heck of a lot better than if it were a normal job.
So in other news, I have almost 100 subscribers!!!!!!! It may not sound like a big deal to some people, but I really appreciate every single person who likes my art enough to subscribe. It makes me want to draw even more. Thanks guys...even though maybe two of you will actually read this. haha.
well here's an amusing picture.

Home Again, Home Again, Jiggity Jig

So this will be my last post from my college room! I go home tomorrow and began packing yesterday. My room is so empty now, excluding the pile of crap i have on my room mate's empty bed (she moved out friday). It's so dreary and lonely looking in here. My friends and I are hanging out one last time tonight, the thought that I'll be away from them all summer has really started to hit me. I'm getting a bit depressed and have really started soaking up every minute I'm with them and cherishing the time. It's so weird to think that in not two days they will be in other states. Well, at least most of them, but the others will be too far away in my own state to meet up, except for one of them. But I'll have no life until august! AH! Theatre has taken my soul! Anyway, my friends have sold their souls as well and have been really busy. So I haven't seen much of them. Well, I drew a fun pic, s maybe I'll photoshop that and post it by the end of tom. Look out for it! I wish you all a happy summer!
adam west totally stuffs his costume. it's terrible.

Day One.

Well, it's only been a day since the play ended and I'm already budgeting my extra free time poorly. Though on the bright side, I got a picture finished and got to post it. Another one is on it's way, a Firefly fan art! Yes!
Yup so if you want to read about my life's happenings, check out my last post. This one was basically to tell you I got art up and pass a little time.
but here is a fun picture! I love love love love the old Batman show and the Riddler is my favorite villain. ^_^.

Riddle me this!

Where has the year gone?!

Well, tonight is closing night for our show, and this week is the last week of serious classes. The weather is also warmer and I got a sunburn the other day. It's really hitting me that school is almost over! And for once in my life, I kind of wish I could stay. I will dearly miss all of my theatre friends. Just having people to wait up for me to go somewhere, play games and watch movies with, and be there to make sure I don't eat dinner alone has made such an impact on me. Not to mention I won't be doing any acting over the summer. I wish our college did a summer season or something like that.
However, I will still be involved in the theatre this summer, but not acting. I'll be doing a theatre shop job. This means I'll be building, painting, setting up, and striking sets. Maybe run crew too. I'll be the first to admit I am not the best talent in a shop situation, but I still love it. There's always good, honest work to be done and I always feel that I accomplished something at the end of the day. Plus I'll learn so many skills that will help my outside the theatre realm. Also, I get to be around theatre people all summer! My favorite kind!
Unfortunately this job may distract me from my art, but I'll try my best to keep it up. Lately, I've been really focused on characters that are outside of the generic labels and stereotypes. Also on backgrounds and environments. Hopefully I can find time to develop my skills.
Yup, so in other art news, I submitted a mascot for the NYC contest. He probably won't win, I just wanted to go for something different. I was going to submit more, but I just couldn't go more generic. I was at a total loss for ideas! There was nothing I could think of with a chance of winning that wasn't something along the lines of a big boobed magical girl, vampire, elf, angel, etc. No interesting designs at all. So because I was not having any fun whatsoever on the contest, I decided to drop it. What's the point if you don't enjoy what you're drawing?
Yup so this was a long post. I have a pic I'm working on and will try to get it up soon!

It's Been a Good Long Time

Well, I haven't posted in forever due to my assistant stage managing and it being tech week. I was backstage most of my weekend for wet and dry tech. For those of you who don't know theatre lingo, dry tech is going through and working out all the lighting, sound, fly, and scene changing cues without the actors. This takes a long time because a lot of things are changed and rehearsed. Wet tech is with the actors, and takes even longer. Collectively, I was in the theatre for about 12 hours, and this week will beat that easily. It's really a shame that I love theatre too much to have a life... However I did manage to get some art done! I drew a mascot too for the NYC contest, I hope to pump at least two more out before the deadline, whenever it is. Mainly, I just want to be a runner up, so long as I get the Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei manga starter pack haha.
Yup, so in other news, I discovered Firefly! Anyone know that show? It was cancelled after one season because it was on at the wrong time I guess, which sucks. It's an awesome show! I love Wash (Alan Tudyk is one of my fav. actors) and Kaylee, they are my fav.s, but I think the whole group dynamic is one of the best I've seen on a sci fi show. This totally kicks Stargate's ass. I think I might actually buy this one. And that's saying something. I'm adding it to my list of DVD's to get off half.com. So far I've got Rockadoodle, Spirited away, Robin Hood (BBC seasons 2 and 3 (when 3 comes out)), Red Green (maybe), and Firefly. Wow, I need to make some money haha.
Yup, so now I have to practice my voice lessons and then study for a quiz, also get hw done for the same class
I'll check in with you all later!
This pic is just too awesome for words.
