Welcome to my little corner of The Otaku!

Let me introduce myself. I sign my art as "Kasey-chan", so feel free to call me that. My interest in drawing started when my sister and I went down to the book store and we discovered How-To-Draw-Anime books. It took off from there.
When I'm not scribbling away I am pursuing work in theatrical properties, spending way too much time on Netflix, watching too much TV, and wishing radioactive waste really did give people superpowers.

Here's some of my favorite things :).

Anime: Miyazaki's works, Tokyo Godfathers, Astro Boy (2003)
Manga: Rurouni Kenshin and Hana Kimi
American Cartoons: Batman: The Animated Series, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Venture Brothers, Gravity Falls, Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated
TV Shows: Merlin (BBC), Firefly, Mystery Science Theater 3000

Break

It's officially Christmas break! ...And I didn't bring my scanner home from college, so you all will have to wait till February to see what all I've been working on. Sorry :( (especially Gadriann, don't worry! I'll have that collab up as soon as possible!). As a consolation, I'll certainly have a lot to put up. No school work and no play to work on leaves room for a lot of inspiration.
So we got snowed in today, which turned out to be more of a good thing. My mother made us go out and play in the snow, which turned out to be pretty fun. Then we made cookies while listening to Christmas music. All that has got me feeling pretty festive now! I was thinking of making a Christmas art, but by the time I post it, it will be closer to Valentines Day, so I decided against it haha. That doesn't change the fact that I'm pretty pumped for Christmas!!!! I'm counting the days!
Then after Christmas, I can count that days to IRELAND!!!!! Ah! I'm so excited!!!!!!!! :).

OC Contest :)

So I entered this OC Contest a while back and today found out that my character won first! For those of you who don't keep up with my manga, the character was Yaku from Moriko No Akakonami. He's one of my oldest and most favourite characters, so I'm glad he's getting some notice. :).
On a slightly different note, the art trade I'm doing with Gadriann is actually coming along. It's kind of weird though haha. I'm sure Gadriann won't mind.
So life is pretty good in general. I just want this week to be over so I can just take my finals and leave. I'm getting pumped for Jane Austen's birthday on December 16th! Other than that I'm getting into the Christmas spirit more and more. This time of year is amazing.
here's a pic. I watched Batman Forever last night, which didn't have the Joker, but I'm still in the Batman mood.

There's Something Magical About Snow

We had our first snowfall today . This made my inner child jump up and down with unbridled joy! Immediately, I started brewing a steaming pot of green tea and downed the whole thing (with some help from my room mate) in a matter of 20 minutes. Thoughts of hot chocolate, sledding, snowball fights, and Christmas are dancing around in my head right now :).
So, I don't know how much classic TV you all watch, but I have become particularly fond of the old Adam West Batman lately. I watched the entire first season last year and only picked it back up a few nights ago. Probably the worst interpretation of Batman to ever grace public television. Even people in the 60's thought it made no sense, which is saying something. However, it is one of the most entertaining shows in the world. I mean, where else do you see the penguin plotting to marry a rich debutante in order to steal her expensive wedding presents or the joker and batman decide the fate of Gotham Beach in a surfing contest?!? It's just so bad, it's awesome. I mean, where else can you find this dialogue in the middle of a fight scene:
"They can't get away from Batman that easy!"
"Easily"
"Oh. Easily"
"Good grammar is essential, Robin"
"Thank You"
"You're Welcome. Now, lets get them!!!!"

Also probably the only Batman universe where he drives the speed limit and pays for the parking meters haha.
genius. I highly recommend it, except all the episodes follow the same plot of "villain commits crime. batman and robin run around gotham solving preposterous clues to uncover the evil plot. Villain captures the dynamic duo in some sort of ridiculous death trap. They escape and save the day." So watching it over and over gets tedious after a while. Still, all the other elements are just so entertaining, you have to keep watching it.
And there's my little rant for the day

so true.

2 More Days!

Comedy of Errors officially closed today, which was a bittersweet thing for me. A lot of crap had to be dealt with for this show. I won't go into specifics, but most of it generally had to do with lack of communication and sickness in the cast. However, Dromio of Syracuse was probably one of the most fun characters I've ever worked with. So I'll miss playing him a lot. Also, the other cast members were wonderful to work with. However, it's nice to have all the negativity of the other aspect of the show off my shoulders. It's Thanksgiving break time!
Man, I can't wait to get off campus for a week or so and see my home friends and family. I'm pretty ready for this semester to be over right now.
Art wise, I'm pretty busy with this collaboration with Gadriann. Other than that I have a few things I've been sketchng here and there. Hopefully I'll have it all done over Thanksgiving Break.
Can't wait!
Here's a picture of my hero!
