Sunflower

As I walked along an old seashore,
Just a twiddlin' my thumbs,
I spotted a small sunflower;
Its life had just begun.

I walked over to it,
Intrigued by its existence.
Its petals dazzled in the sun,
With dew that was just misted.

So everyday I visited,
And treated it with care.
I wished that flowers like,
would grow just everywhere.

And then one day I woke up,
To go visit the small flower.
I found it lying on the ground,
Weak and drained of power.

That day I cried and mourned,
For the sweet little sunflower,
Which bloomed upon the cold seashore,
And did not hide or cower.

I wrote this during math class one day after a test. Then I showed it too some friends at lunch. Their response was: O.o "Woah, you must've been bored." I'm not sure if that's a compliment, or an insult. My Lit. teacher was all like, "That was sad!! It was kinda depressing." Gee, I love you too.
