Progress so far...

I thought I should have little updates on any progress...

So, well, here it is:

Zero Cosplay:

  • Have:
    White Shirt
    Shoes

    Need:
    Jacket
    Trousers
    Armband
    Vest
    Tie
    Wig
    Rose buttons
    White ribbon

So Pretty much the costume is 10% done! Gah! And its only 5 months away... :O

Yuki Cosplay:

  • Have:
    White shirt
    Jacket
    Skirt
    Knee socks
    Boots

    Need:
    Hair dye
    Rose buttons
    Red ribbon
    White ribbon
    Armband

We've spent more time on this costume than my one...we've got the basics, now we just have to alter it abit, and stick on the buttons and white ribbon. So all in all, 50% done. :D

We should really hurry up and find all my stuff...haven't had the chance to go to any Opp shops.

The Bloody Rose

Props. How I hate 'em and love 'em.

Quite a while ago I decided to try to make the Bloody Rose gun...well it sorta worked.
I made several mistakes on it though, I accidently reversed the sides, the writings on the wrong side. And the structure isin't perfect, my picture I was using to base it on wasn't very good. But on the positive...yes, there are positives! It turned out really hard, set well and I managed to paint it.

I think I'm going to alter it though, Its really rough and you can see every bump and scratch in it. I have no idea how to smooth and shine it. I was thinking maybe if I put a layer of glue on it then stuck it to the smooth bit of my bath and left it to dry, when I peeled it off it might be smooth and shiny....its worked with other things. I've read that you could use gesso or something like that on it, but frankly I'm lazy and don't want to buy gesso. :P

I also want to elevate the wooden handles pat, they are just flat and painted on. It looks rather pathetic. I also want to repaint it after I get it smooth. I used poster paint, but it looks weird. I may buy a spray can of silver metallic paitn and use that, I can use any left over paint on the rose buttons.

Also, I need to attach a chain to it. For once in my life I actually thought ahead! While I was constructing it, I put a keychain loop into the thing so I could attach a chain when I needed to. :D I need to find a good length and size chain now. I was thinking of going to the supermarket and buying a cheap dog chain leash, and I can easily clip it on to the inside of my jacket.

Maybe, in the case you want to make one (hopefully make it better than mine) I'm gonna write the instructions.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Materials: Water, Newspaper, Tissue paper, Cardboard, tape, scissors, flour, silver and brown paint, chain,

Process:
1: Firstly, get hold of a picture of the Bloody Rose gun, don't make the mistake of assuming you know every inch of it...it quickly turns wrong. Trace the picture onto a piece of paper, make sure that the preportions are correct and it is the right size. Cut out the gun, there are several peice of the gun, so cut them all out separately and put it on to a peice of light cardboard. Cut out each shape twice. You now have the templates.

2: Grab some newspaper and make them into thick sausages the size and shape of the gun, tape or glue them firmly into place onto the template of the gun. Tape, or glue the other side on, sandwiching the newspaper in between. Firmly tape the whole thing up. By now it will look pretty ugly.

3: Make up some Papier Mache mixture, water and flour to make a nice paste. Rip up some strips of newspaper and coat the whole thing in paper. Make the handle slightly raised. Be careful when dealing with the tricky shapes the gun has. Get a bit of card and put a keychain ring into it and stick it firmly to the bottom of the gun, coat this with mache too.Let this dry. It will take a few hours, depending, to dry. I cheated and put it in the oven under strict supervision. When it is completely dry and hardbaked, take it out and give it a coat of tissue paper and paste. Your gun should be the right shape now. Wrap it in glad wrap, making sure it is not crinkled, you want the thing to be smooth. Also, make sure air can get in, so it will dry. DO NOT put this in the oven! Leave it to dry some place safe!

4: Your gun should be dry, and hopefully smooth and shiny. Paint the gun silver, no need for a base coat, its already white anyways. Leave that to dry. Paint the handle brown. Leave to dry. Write on the gun what it says in the anime. Attach a chain to the keyring.

Now practice your Zero poses!

I hope I haven't left anything out on this. Don't sue me if I have.
I might make this gun again, using a different design and much more care. Now I know what to expect and all. I suppose practice makes perfect.

I'll try to post pictures.

If the shoe fits...

...or in this case; doesn't.

HELP! What colour are Zero's shoes?!

I've scanned the internet and watched the anime closely. They switch between black...and brown! I can't seem to figure it out...what colour they are!

Black or Brown?

**sigh** Don't worry my panicked ranting's over.

Good news!
I already own formal dress shoes. Bad news...they're black, and I have the feeling that his are brown. I hope they turn out to be black. I suppose I could attack mine with some brown shoe polish...they could do with a clean! :D

I'm not sure what happens if you use brown polish on black shoes...well, what's the worse that could happen! :D

I also think that mine are too clumsy. I don't think they'll look right...not to mention if I can walk in them! They're really tall...that's good, should give me extra height. But it's been a year since I wore them. I wore them to school until I got new ones...wasn't that bad to walk in. But they sucked to run in!

These are similar to my shoes..except they're abit more clumsier and rounded at the end. External Image

I might just say "stuff that!" and buy some from a Op Shop/Charity Shop. I think that'll be my last resort. I will not wear sneakers! I hate it when people ruin a perfectly good cosplay by wearing sneakers...well, unless the character wears sneakers. That's different.

So...it would be a great help if anyone could send in reference pictures, information, feed back...ANYTHING! :D
