(One breath. One step. And I'll be with him again. It's been so long. So hard. So painful. Why did I wait? It doesn't matter now. So here I come. My love.) I took that last step over the edge. And fell...

Chapter 1

"Raya! Psst, Raya!" a voice said in a harsh whisper. I groaned and turned my head away from the irritation.
"Mmm 5 more minutes mommy..." I mermered sleepily.
"Pssh! Girl I ain't your momma." the voice giggled. I heard foot steps, then felt a tug on my hair. "Raya seriously, your drooling on your keyboard."
My head shot up. "I WHAT?!" I spun around, after a quick glance down, to find my best friend Blaze on the floor laughing at me. "Skank!" I called him as I kicked him hard in the ass. "I don't drool."
"Owwy Raya! Geez! Take it easy. I'm gonna need that tonight." he giggled again and hopped up off the floor.
"Oh I bet you will ya Fruit Loop." I laughed and rotated my fun spinny computer chair to face the little divider to my left as Blaze walked back to his cubical. "So is it Zander or Drak tonight?" he placed a finger on his chin and his eyes rolled up to stare at the ceiling in pretend thought.
"Hmm..." He giggled and shot forward in his chair. "Who ever texts me first." He finished with a big grin. "Why, what do yoooooouuuuuu have planned tonight?" Blaze leaned over the divider, giving a teasing grin.
"Nothing, just go home and curl up with a good book." I replied, a dreamy look in my eyes and leaned back in my chair.
"You mean one of those cheesy romance novels?" Blaze said, a grin like the chesire cat plastered on his face. I gave a dramatic gasp and placed my hand on neck.
"Hey! They are not cheesy!" I put on my best puppy pout.
"Just keep telling yourself that." Blaze gigged. Growling softly, I swung at him with my notebook.
"SKANK!" He quickly retreated behind the divider, his giggle could still be heard. I sighed and leaned back into my chair, sat the note book down and got back to work. Blaze gigged as a note paper air plane fluttered over the divider. I picked it up, opened it and read:

Lunch at the usual spot?

Yes No

Check one plez =^.^=

I shook my head. Blaze was a whole head taller than me. Built like a swimmer. Spikey purple hair with red tips. Needless to say, any guy he wanted he got. And as much as he could annoy me, he was my best friend. A smile tugged at a corner of my mouth as I checked the yes box, refolded it and tossed it back.

Blaze and I sat down at the small cafe in the square. The wind blew softly as we ate lunch. I had put my head down, semi-paying attention to his endless chatter, when he stopped mid-sentence. "Ooo, Raya! Some cutie is lookin at chu!!!" He whispered excitedly.
"No one would ever look at me..." I said matter-or-factly. "I ain't nothin to look at."
"Well, if your nothin to look at, then why is some man candy starein right at chu?" Blaze said, his eyes bight with eager excitement.
"Ha ha Blaze. Not funny."
"Seriously! You gotta check him out. He's directly behind you." I sighed and started to turn but he quickly grabbed my hand and pulled me back. "Don't just turn and look! He might freak and run!" He hissed. "Pretend your getting something from your bag and glance at him or something!"
I rolled my eyes at him but did as he said. Leaning down to my right, I flipped over the flap of my ICP messenger bag and started to root around for nothing in particular. Letting a nice chunk of my hair fall over my shoulder to hide my face I finally glanced to the side. Through the veil I saw him and froze on the spot, my hand still stuck in my bag. He leaned all non-chalant agenst the corner of the cafe, not 20ft away. He looked like rock star. Shaggy silver hair with black tips that fade up into red. His head seemed to glow with a halo of light from the sun. He really was staring at me. Not that you could tell for sure. He wore sleek black sun glasses that perfectly complimented his outfit. A Blood red sleeveless hoody with a black skull and cross bones on the front. Ripped black jeans and red converse. He even had on one of my most favorite things in the world: a black spike collar.
I could actually feel his gaze boring into me. Like he was trying to look through me to see my soul. Contradicting to his stance, he seemed tense, on edge. Like he was waiting for something to happen. But any thought after that was lost because in that instant he tilted his head down slightly and looked over the top of his shades. A small gasp escaped my gaping mouth as jolt shot down my body falling, but was helpless to stop it. When I hit the ground I barely heard Blaze call my name. He sounded far away. I didn't care. I was still transfixed buy that guy. Something flashed across his face. It might have been a hint of a smile but it was gone so quickly that I wasn't sure I actually saw anything at all. Then Blaze was at my side. He picked me up and dusted me off. "Leave it to you to fall in front of a hotty. he laughed "Tsk tsk." I seemed to come back to Earth. I glared at him.
"Thank you Captin Fuckin Obvious!" He gave me a big grin and stood straight and tall to salute me. I growled slightly and was about to yell something else when I suddenly remembered the reason why I just fell. But when I looked back he was gone. "Well, I think I'll go home now. I've embarrassed myself enough today." I said, sighing as I started to walk away.
"I'll go with!" Blaze said and began to follow.
"I don't think so mister! This would be what? Like the 5th time you ditched worked? Nope your going back." Blaze ignored me and kept walking. I planted my feet and crossed my arms. "Don't make me drag you by your tongue ring!" He stopped then and hung his head as he walked back to me. He put one his puppy dog pout. Which never works and he knew it. So I don't know why he bothers. I put a fist on my hip and pointed back toward work.
"Git!"
"Your such a buzz kill, Raya." he whined but smiled as he pranced way, singing his favorite song, Chris Krocker's Mind in the Gutter. I shook my head with a sigh and started on my way again.

Forget double talk, I freaking 12-taked as I was crossing Vine St. Concentrated on other things I was paying no attention to those around me. The breeze picked up then, causing a girls hair to blow up and brush my face in soft caress, pulling me from my thoughts. The sent was amazing but to brief to identify and that small touch sent a shiver down my spine. That hasn't happen for 12 years, so I just had to see a girl with long black hair that fell past her knees walking back to the way he had just come. If my heart still worked it would have stopped dead mid-beat. My breath caught in my throat and my body shook. My mind shut down and my head spun. All I could do was stand in the middle of the busy street, and stare.
It was like someone hit the slow-mo button on the world. I saw every move she made in excruciating detail. Every sway of her hips that caused the chains of her tripp pants to swing and catch the sunlight. Every bounce in her step that made her bag hit her leg. And every beautiful strand of her silk hair that blew on the wind. It felt like a life time had passed by the time she made it to the curb and disappeared in the rush of people. A horn blared suddenly and the world sped back up. I cleared my head with a shake. "There's no way. It couldn't be her, could it?" So I followed. I had to know.
By the time I caught up with her she was seated out side a cafe' talking to some spikey purple haired guy. I picked the furthest corner that still had a veiw of their table and just leaned againsted the wall to watch. This woman was the spitting image of her. But that didn't mean it was her. Is my mind just seeing what my heart wants it to again? This is foolish. It's imposable. Why do I do this to my self? She's gone, get over it all ready! She's never comeing back... I gave my self a mental kick.
I thought the dilustion stopped years ago. Seeing Her face in the face on everyone that past. Hearing her soft laughter in the whispers of the wind. Why again now? The girl put her head on her arm as the guy continued to talk. I wish I could see her face. And as I had said it aloud, she started to turn. But was pulled back by the purple haired dude. I growled low in my throat. Soon though she was on the move again. This time she leaned down to retreive something from her bag on her right. Some raven hair fell over her sholder. A second later she glanced my way and bright green eyes locked with mine.
NO WAY! Even though the sun hurts, I had to see those eyes more clearly. So I tilted my head slightly and looked over my shades. She froze suddenly and forward. OMFG! It is her! NO one was a cluz like my Raya. A smile tugged at my mouth as that guy called her name. But as he picked up and brushed dirt off the front of her shirt, he touched her breasts in the process. An unbelievable rage burst in side me. If I didn't rush myself my self around the corner, I would have ripped his blood head off. But how.. how... After long 12 years. How...
A few minutes later, I peeked around the corner when I was calm again. She was leaving. So I followed. She was here. My Raya returned from the dead.
