Errand Boy

Sebastian

I’m the stupid errand boy. Let’s just have Akira go get the most annoying guy in the club and have me do all the rest because I can speak in different languages. But she can speak in English and so can I, so when we get to London, England, she doesn’t want to do it. Instead, she figures out where to go next and I go do the dirty work but honestly, I didn’t mind, even though I hated being away from Karin, especially because of that Griffin...

It was weird, I know. It was actually pretty cool meeting everybody and knowing how they would react to certain things. Making up different situations was fun too, though getting a broken nose was not in the picture of trying to get Valerie into the M.C.C.

Right now, I was in front of a mirror in a bathroom that was in a restaurant, trying to clean up the blood on my face while I was also trying to figure out how to get Valerie on my side. At least, I’m pretty sure that it was Valerie. I called Akira right after Valerie, I think, broke my nose and she said it made no mistakes, she had made sure there weren’t any when she first started to look over the program when we we traveling. So either way, it was Valerie. Maybe she just liked to dress as a boy for some reason.

As my nose stayed slightly bruised after I put it in place with a groan, I pulled out my iPod, which Akira installed the hard drive’s information on, so it wasn’t really an iPod anymore. Just an information box now. Good thing it was a Touch too...

I accessed the database and saw that Valerie was in the same spot as before but how would I get her to come with me? Maybe get Karin to come with? I had no idea. Maybe... food was a way to talk to her? She did seem to favor the food she did have...

That’s when I figured that this restuarant I was in was probably a good one since I could even smell the food from inside the bathroom, so that’s when I exited the bathroom and ordered as much food as I could carry. Once it was ready after about an hour, I took all the hot food in hand and left with it, heading back to the alleyway and over to where Valerie still was.

“Valerie?” I called out as I put the food on a piece of cardboard and put it in front of me. I heard a rustle in a certain part of the alleyway that I couldn’t pinpoint but I just knew it was her.

“Do you go by another name?” I called out and there wasn’t an answer. I sighed. “Thanks for breaking my nose by the way, that totally enlightened my day!!” I called out with a little anger in my voice, which was not intended but came out that way anyways. There still wasn’t an answer.

“I’m sure you can smell the food. Can we at least talk?” I asked and that’s when I heard more shuffling and saw her crawling her way out of some sort of box. So she was homeless? Maybe that’s why she looked at me confused when I asked her what she was... Maybe she actually didn’t know.

I saw her come out of the darkness of the alleyway and over to the food. She came silently and to me, she was still as honestly as confusing between both genders. I could see the likeness of a girl though, even though it was kind of hard to tell with her face and hands.

I could see her mouth was watering as she looked at the food and she slowly made her way over to me, eyeing me constantly.

“If it would make you feel better, I’ll scoot further back, even though I told you earlier that I wouldn’t hurt you,” I sighed as I scooted myself back and she made her way a little bit more quicker to the food.

“I still don’t trust what you say,” Valerie spat and I just sighed.

“Fine, then how about I tell you how I found you?” I told her with my head tilted and she just stared at me before digging into another piece of warm bread.

“Okay, well...” I sighed. “My friend has this device she found that tracks all mythological creatures in the world. Your name was on it and right now, we are trying to recruit people into the club to find out why our names are on this list and we are wondering and trying to figure out how we are being tracked. Would you like to see?” I asked her and her head was already shooting up at me and I could tell that she was wanting to see it. She wasn’t one to talk but it was obvious to tell what she was thinking.

I took out my iPod and moved it over to her. She slowly took it off the ground and looked at the iPod with big eyes and threw it almost automatically right back to me. Thankfully, I caught it.

“So I’m guessing you don’t know-” That’s when the wind picked up and her hat got taken up in it, along with her hair. Once the wind died down, she scrambled to get her hat and the bobbypins that fell out of it. I didn’t actually have to ask her to try and remember what she was. I figured it out with just her hair falling.

A Nymph.

It should’ve been obvious, with how much she was trying to hide her features.

“Well, that tells me just in the slightest bit. Thank you, wind,” I exasperated and she just stared at me and I sighed.

“I understand why you hide your features. Guys flock to you, right, if you take off your hat and let your hair down?” I asked, gesturing towards the hat and she slowly nodded. “You’re a Nymph.” She just couldn’t stop staring at me. “You do know what a Nymph is, right?” I asked and she shook her head slowly, though somewhere inside me, she knew what I was talking about. She quickly put her hair back up and then her hat on her head.

“A Nymph is a mythological creatuare that attracts humans and mythological creatures alike because of their looks. You hide it so that you don’t have people flocking to you, right?” She barely nodded. “It would make sense of why you showed up on the tracking device,” I said and she just took it all in. She thought it over after some time and then looked at me.

“So... what if... what if I am different?” She asked. “Would I be okay with all of you... crazy people?” She asked and I chuckled.

“Yeah, and to reassure you, I’m a Vampire,” I told her simply, opening my mouth up slightly so she could see my fangs. She just blinked.

“They are real. I just don’t feed on humans or mythological creatures. Only rare meat, animals at most,” I sighed and she didn’t respond.

“Look, do you want more of this food? You can actually live in a place other than a gutter,” I put bluntly and she narrowed her eyes at me. “You would live in a really big house with all of us, we would leave you alone when you wanted us to, and we wouldn’t pry on what’s under your hat,” I said simply. “All you have to do is come with us back to Virginia in America. What do you say?” I asked as I stood up and offerd a hand to her.

Instead, her leg flew up and hit me in the crotch. I couldn’t help but kheel over in pain and practically fall on the ground.

“That’s for earlier and now,” Valerie spat as she stood up, stuffing a lot of the food in her bag, and then holding her hand out to me instead. I slowly took it and she helped me up. I started to lead her back to the airport.

“We’re just heading back to the airport, don’t kick me again, please,” I put out quickly, sounding like I was pleading, and she just laughed a little. It was kind of melodic but I paid no attention to it.

After walking for a bit and me regiaing my compusure, Valerie spoke up again.

“Don’t call me Valerie, call me Ash.”

“I will. Just don’t kick me again if I say Valerie by accident.”

`And with that, we got to the airport.
