Humans are annoying. They try to get in your way. They try to stop you, even if all you want is to survive. They just don't understand you. They don't get anything.
I lay on my back, thinking this. Why is it that they think there's a point in killing us? We never do them harm, unless it's vital. So right then and there, I decide that I'm going to teach the humans a lesson. One they'll never forget. And of course, that's simply for the purpose of getting them to understand that we Alternates are people, too. We have feelings and reasons to live and we can get hurt, and we can hurt. We just don't show it as easily.
I get up. Time to start. Or maybe I should wait until nightfall. I decide to wait, and get back down.
The few hours pass quickly. I'm up and ready in no time. I check my list one more time before I get going. And I'm off, bounding from rooftop to rooftop. I know perfectly well where I'm going. Tonight the humans are gathering in the park. To discuss ways to kill us. How ironic. They don't know that at this very moment, I'm silently coming towards them, ready to jump out. I smile at their stupidity.
I get there, then stop. They're just gathering. One person steps up onto the stage and introduces himself. "And now, ladies and gentlemen, we will be planning how to defeat... The Alternates!"
Right on que, I jump out.
