P.S. Trust me when I say that this is not even a summary of the whole me.
Five years ago, a crazy girl named Blue Hawk told a clumsy 13-year-old geek to be a member of myOtaku (which was still connected with theOtaku). Now, the clumsy geek now known as The Mask is 18 years old, and he has made a mark in the site while continuing to make his presence felt.
So much for the epic story.
So yeah, it's been five years since I've been a member in this site. A lot of things happened in those five years. Some were fun, some were sad, and some just made you say, "Oro?!". The most notable change as of late is in regards to Blue Hawk. Five years ago, she was my Mama Bear who led me to this site and guided me until I could finally walk with my own two feet. Now, I'm his Uncle Mask who led her back to this site and is set to guide her to the new way of theOtaku. Ironically, she asked for such help ON THIS DAY! By the way, please check out her world Coup de grâce and make her feel the love, especially if you're an old friend of hers.
Before I continue, let me just say some personal "What Happened Today?" news. Today while I was in the mall, I encountered my old high school classmate JV. I helped him out in babysitting his classmate's young son. After which, I listened to his stories of how the Nursing program he took was very fulfilling to him. It's really nice to hear such news after the sadness he's gone through during his first days as a Nursing student.
Also, we went to the hospital tonight 'coz my brother suffered from an allergy. Not sure what caused it, but it's believed that one of the foods we ate at a restaurant in the mall caused the allergy. Don't worry, he's fine now and taking his rest here at home.
Now back to the whole FIVE FREAKING YEARS thing. First off, THANK YOU very much for everything you've done to make me feel at home in this site for these past years. Without it, I wouldn't be here right now. And thanks for the visits, especially now that this World is surprisingly popular based on Adam's rankings, and for the comments and hugs that motivate me to do better. Hopefully, I'll be here for as long as ten years. Well, let's just see.
Finally, to celebrate my 5 years of existence in this site, I've decided to unmask myself to all of you. Since I thought this moment would be so special, I've decided to unmask myself in video format. I couldn't embed it here for some reason, so I've decided to post a link instead. Excited? Just click this link to see the video.
OVERVIEW
On May 2005, I introduced a humor article in theOtaku entitled "Barbecue Sauce". It was a fanfic type of article wherein eight (8) anime characters from different anime series try to make a commercial for a barbecue sauce. (Click here for archived copy of the article.)
This article, which was inspired by a series of skits that were shown in MADtv, captured the imagination of many members. It became so successful that Bossman Adam even featured it in the main page of theOtaku (at that time, being featured means that it was that good)). In the end, it became one of my highest-rated articles, along with the Top Ten lists.
One member once commented that I should turn the article into a comic series; unfortunately, I'm not that talented in drawing. Three years later, I now give you the chance to do the comic series.
RULES
(1) First of all, read the article. (Click here to read the article via theOtaku Fan Words.)
(2) After reading the article, choose one of the eight sets of dialogues in the article and make a fan comic out of it. (Example: Make a fan comic of TAKE 1 or Sano's dialogue set). As far as how you make the comic, your creativity is your only limit.
(3) Submit it to the Fan Comics section of theOtaku. Make sure to include the tags barbecue sauce contest.
(4) Once it has officially appeared in the site, inform me about it through PM. On that PM, tell me also what theOtaku gift you would like to receive should you win the contest. Deadline: August 29, 2008 (Friday)
CRITERIA
The criteria for judging the entries will be:
(1) Attractiveness and creativity
(2) Humor presentation
(3) Cleanliness
(4) Grammar and spelling
PRIZE
I'm going to use Adam's new Gifts feature as the prize. This will be given to the Top Three entries in the contest.
FAQ Can two or more members use the same set of dialogues? Yes, they can. I'm doing this to allow more creativity to flow within the participants. Should I use every word in the dialogues? Yes, you should. You can add a little dialogue of your own, but the original dialogues must be kept intact.
It was Tuesday afternoon when I decided to make my move. After sitting through three hours worth of lectures in Guidance Counseling and World Literature...
First of all, thanks a lot to the well-wishers who greeted me in advance for my birthday.
Anyway, yeah I'm officially 18. Now I'm in the legal age. The age where the line between adolescence and adulthood becomes thinner and thinner.
Remember that thought that I shared yesterday when I thought it was sad for me to become older than Shinichi Kudo, the Detective Conan character whom I had considered as the amazing big brother that I never had? Well, last morning I actually spent time crying over that fact in the bathroom. I guess that fact is just a bit hard to accept for me.
Today, I did what I thought I would never be able to do in my birthday: I CELEBRATED IT WITH MY CLASSMATES! Since it's summer vacation, it has been a tradition for me to celebrate it without any classmates beside me. But since there was a photoshoot and a meeting for the campus's Psychology Society (which I am a part of), I decided to use the opportunity to do something that I have never done in my 18 years here on Earth.
In the end, I managed to treat five of my fellow members (one of them an old high school colleague of mine) to burger and ice tea at the popular fastfood chain Jolibee, which was near the campus. I gotta adit though that I wished that I just treated them for Chinese siomai and rice at a cheap cafeteria near the campus, but that realization came into my senses when I saw how expensive the burger and ice tea was. (I spent PHP 230 or US$ 5). But what the heck, it was still fun!
And, yeah, I made another post in Only in Asia, this time on a Japanese cartoon on potty training. Also, I submitted a Rurouni Kenshin article that compared my favorite character, Kenshin Himura, to my favorite politician, Dr. Ron Paul. Hopefully, the guys at the Fan Words business will approve it.
And so that ends my Birthday post for today. As my gift to you, here is the 1st ending song of the anime series Death Note entitled "Aluminia". I'm showing this because it has become the new theme song of my life, with lyrics telling me that I can still do a lot in my life. Enjoy!
First things first. THREE days before *gulp* I'm old enough to play sweepstakes! *evil laugh*
Anyway, I just wanna express some of my thoughts recently. These thoughts concern ...
