First off, let me just say that what you're about to read came from my political other-self (I have a lot of other-selves, you see. 
)
- This article is interesting. It's a writeup on the US elections and also features some views expressed by young people regarding who they would want to see as the next US President. But what made this interesting are two things: 1. They're from Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka, I say!, 2. They mentioned third-party candidates as their picks, such as Barr-Root (Libertarian) and McKinney-Clemente (Green). When you consider the fact that info like this could go as far as Sri Lanka, you've got to wonder why many Americans never ever thought about voting for a third-party, or are not even aware of that idea.
- This article is short but interesting as well. It's about Ron Paul and his view that the costly measures being made by the Bush administration in order to save the economy will just lead to the destruction of the dollar. Why it's interesting? I don't know, maybe it's because this article was written in Iran. And yet, some Americans don't even know who Ron Paul is.
- It's amazing how a lot of countries report on US-related news that many US news stations don't really give too much importance. Especially with the US elections, and the whole focus on Obama-Biden and McCain-Palin (especially on Palin, and the considerable amount of time US media gave on the whole "lipstick on a pig" issue instead of other long-term issues). Then again, it's a two-party system, right?
- I'm glad I'm no American. Having to live in a two-party system...at least the Philippines gets a multi-party system. Though the system is so flawed due to widespread cheating, it's still good that people actually get to choose from a wide range of candidates, instead of having to vote for two major candidates. Besides, anyone who thinks that there's no cheating in US election must be an innocent being who hasn't been exposed properly to the problems of this world.
- Today in my country, it's the 36th anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law (a dark period in the country which lasted from 1972 to 1981). Though I think this period had its benefits (such as culture preservation and a disciplined society), this era was so horrific for many due to the series of human rights violations. Kinda like Death Note, except that I believe Light would have been more righteous as a leader than the guy who declared Martial Law.
