Five years ago, a crazy girl named Blue Hawk told a clumsy 13-year-old geek to be a member of myOtaku (which was still connected with theOtaku). Now, the clumsy geek now known as The Mask is 18 years old, and he has made a mark in the site while continuing to make his presence felt.
So much for the epic story.
So yeah, it's been five years since I've been a member in this site. A lot of things happened in those five years. Some were fun, some were sad, and some just made you say, "Oro?!". The most notable change as of late is in regards to Blue Hawk. Five years ago, she was my Mama Bear who led me to this site and guided me until I could finally walk with my own two feet. Now, I'm his Uncle Mask who led her back to this site and is set to guide her to the new way of theOtaku. Ironically, she asked for such help ON THIS DAY! By the way, please check out her world Coup de grâce and make her feel the love, especially if you're an old friend of hers.
Before I continue, let me just say some personal "What Happened Today?" news. Today while I was in the mall, I encountered my old high school classmate JV. I helped him out in babysitting his classmate's young son. After which, I listened to his stories of how the Nursing program he took was very fulfilling to him. It's really nice to hear such news after the sadness he's gone through during his first days as a Nursing student.
Also, we went to the hospital tonight 'coz my brother suffered from an allergy. Not sure what caused it, but it's believed that one of the foods we ate at a restaurant in the mall caused the allergy. Don't worry, he's fine now and taking his rest here at home.
Now back to the whole FIVE FREAKING YEARS thing. First off, THANK YOU very much for everything you've done to make me feel at home in this site for these past years. Without it, I wouldn't be here right now. And thanks for the visits, especially now that this World is surprisingly popular based on Adam's rankings, and for the comments and hugs that motivate me to do better. Hopefully, I'll be here for as long as ten years. Well, let's just see.
Finally, to celebrate my 5 years of existence in this site, I've decided to unmask myself to all of you. Since I thought this moment would be so special, I've decided to unmask myself in video format. I couldn't embed it here for some reason, so I've decided to post a link instead. Excited? Just click this link to see the video.
What?! You think I'm hiding something from you?
That's all for today. HAVE A NICE DAY!

Anime: Major. Taken from Fansub.tv. Owned by respective owners.
I've uploaded a new avatar yesterday, but my computer is still showing my Conan avatar. If ever you see my avatar (probably in my Portfolio page), could you please tell me how it looks like? Is it still Conan or is it different already?
Not too long ago, I mentioned in this post how my World got over 8000 hits in six months. Exactly a week later, my World got 9000 hits. It was that fast. When you consider the number of comments that my World gets in every post, I can't help but wonder where these visits are coming from.
I'm starting to like the anime series Major. The series centers on Goro Honda, a boy who aspires to become a baseball player like his father and plays for the Little League Baseball. As the series progresses, Goro continues to pursue that dream during his teenage and young adult years. I'm no fan of baseball so I wasn't attracted to this series in the beginning. But later on, the story of this series and the character's profiles caught my attention, and it really got me interested. Not to mention the fact that I also enjoyed listening its opening theme songs. (P.S. This show is being broadcasted on a local cable network here, so I watch it directly on TV.)
It's really odd that a guy like me who regards sports as his weakness would enjoy watching sports-oriented anime series. Aside from Major (baseball), there was also Hajime no Ippo (boxing) and Eyeshield 21 (American football). And yet, I didn't like Baki the Grappler and Ultimate Muscle even though it focused on wrestling, which is one sport I enjoy watching.
While going home yesterday after attending an appointment with my classmates for our class project, a couple of kids went inside the jeepney I was riding and started to sing Christmas tunes. That officially reminded that it's Christmas season already. By the way, Christmas season in the Philippines doesn't begin on December 24. It begins on September, the first of the four "-ber" months.
On October 18, I'm going to be spending my 5th year of existence in this site. (Normally I would say "the 5th anniversary of my myOtaku", but my myOtaku is semi-retired already.) So I plan on posting a weekly fanword as part of my celebration. Hopefully, the plan pushes through.
By the way, the title of today's post is a quote from Major.
That's all for today. HAVE A NICE DAY!

Time: 12:39 AM (Timecheck brought to you by Acme. The brand that coyotes trust.
)
Well, let me start off by saying Happy Anniversary to theOtaku.com. May you have more power and strength, and may the fandom live always.
From anniversary let's go to Top Ten fanword. It's still so sad that the Top Ten contest was a big darn failure. (
WHY?) I actually thought about making it myself in time for the anniversary, but I don't have that much time and I'm out of ideas.
Now from Top Ten fanwords, let's go to previously-posted fanwords. I'm glad a lot of you enjoyed Happy Meal Moments with Conan. I gotta say that everytime I read it, I feel proud about my work. Thanks to "Have A Nice Day!" by Mick Foley, I learned to make this piece in a very amusing way.
From previously-posted fanword, we go to planned fanwords. I plan on making a sequel to "Happy Meal Moments with Conan", although I'm a bit doubtful that it will be as good as the original. I also plan to compare theOtaku to the WWE, to apply a Freudian concept on anime fandom, and to poke fun at children's songs. Let's see what happens in the future.
From planned fanwords, we go to fanwords via myOtaku. I took another trip down myOtaku memory lane. While reading the comments, it just hit me that the year 2006 was the best year I had in myOtaku. I had a lot of interaction with a lot of members, and the Three Freaking Years became a segment that people enjoyed. Sigh --- wish I could say the same with today. If this was the WWE/WWF, the year 2006 was "the Attitude Era".
From fanwords via myOtaku, we go to myOtaku celebrities. It's really amazing to see my real-life friend Ezel emerge as a new celebrity in myOtaku. Really, it's just so amazing. Just like jomz, who emerged from being "an inactive member since 11/28/03" to becoming an Otaku Legend.
And that ends this chained melody of mine. HAVE A NICE DAY!
