P.S. Trust me when I say that this is not even a summary of the whole me.
First of all, thanks a lot to the well-wishers who greeted me in advance for my birthday.
Anyway, yeah I'm officially 18. Now I'm in the legal age. The age where the line between adolescence and adulthood becomes thinner and thinner.
Remember that thought that I shared yesterday when I thought it was sad for me to become older than Shinichi Kudo, the Detective Conan character whom I had considered as the amazing big brother that I never had? Well, last morning I actually spent time crying over that fact in the bathroom. I guess that fact is just a bit hard to accept for me.
Today, I did what I thought I would never be able to do in my birthday: I CELEBRATED IT WITH MY CLASSMATES! Since it's summer vacation, it has been a tradition for me to celebrate it without any classmates beside me. But since there was a photoshoot and a meeting for the campus's Psychology Society (which I am a part of), I decided to use the opportunity to do something that I have never done in my 18 years here on Earth.
In the end, I managed to treat five of my fellow members (one of them an old high school colleague of mine) to burger and ice tea at the popular fastfood chain Jolibee, which was near the campus. I gotta adit though that I wished that I just treated them for Chinese siomai and rice at a cheap cafeteria near the campus, but that realization came into my senses when I saw how expensive the burger and ice tea was. (I spent PHP 230 or US$ 5). But what the heck, it was still fun!
And, yeah, I made another post in Only in Asia, this time on a Japanese cartoon on potty training. Also, I submitted a Rurouni Kenshin article that compared my favorite character, Kenshin Himura, to my favorite politician, Dr. Ron Paul. Hopefully, the guys at the Fan Words business will approve it.
And so that ends my Birthday post for today. As my gift to you, here is the 1st ending song of the anime series Death Note entitled "Aluminia". I'm showing this because it has become the new theme song of my life, with lyrics telling me that I can still do a lot in my life. Enjoy!
First things first: 14 days before I turn *gulp* 18. Oh boy . . .
Well I took the time today to look around the memories that were made here in theOtaku and myOtaku. And I noticed something: some guys are no longer with us already . . . at least in this virtual world that celebrates the anime fandom.
First off is the very guy gal that led me to this joint: Blue Hawk. Right now, this pharmacy-studying friend of mine doesn't seem to be too active. And I assume presume that this is because she has, for the first time in her life, a lovebird. I don't have any authority to be posting details about their relationship, but I can assure you that he is a guy, and they are doing well. But I gotta admit that I miss those days when she would advertise my site in her own site (since she was, at that time, a popular member).
Next, there's Philfoula. What makes this guy so special? Dunno. Probably because he talks cool, draws cool, looks cool. I guess he just symbolized COOL. Old school COOL. COOL with no preservatives. (Okay, that last line sounded odd.) He's been out in this site for years already, but I have to admit that I still miss those simple yet fun posts that he used to make, plus that really cool self-portrait of his.
Then, there's takeshi takumi. This guy used to comment a lot on my site, and was one of my frequent visitors. Like what I said before, his comments were like "a breath of fresh air in the morning". Nowadays, I don't see him making those comments anymore in the site. Probably because my writing style had a change, or because of some things he alone knows of. I gotta say though, I missed his comments.
And last but not the least is . . . The Mask. And I mean, The Mask of the past. The guy that used to make those really electrifying posts. The guy that used to be charged up with ideas on how to poke fun with anime. The guy who can really whip up a humor article. The guy who was still so darn happy in his life. I miss him. I miss him a lot. It's really a shame that the guy I'm talking about is now a Psychology major trying to find meaning in his life (especially with his Death Note experience) and having a struggle between ambition, security, and happiness. It's a shame he does not seem to have the magic he used to do back then. Maybe age had something to do with it. *looks up in the first sentence*
Oh, I just miss you guys.
P.S. I have a feeling the very warm weather and the very warm chair that I'm sitting on has made me feel this way right now.
