The second semester starts tomorrow. Due to what I expect to be as the most excruciating and agonizing semester that I'll ever experience in college, I'll probably be out of the site for a while.
Sure, I've been out of the cafe for a while, so it ain't a big deal. If we go to the news nuggets...well, that's a different story. Then again, I can see that there have been two news posted, so I guess that section's gonna be alright.
I might "secretly" visit the site from time to time (like what I did in the previous semester), but let's just see how this goes.
'Till the next post, do take care and have a nice day.
1. Currently listening to Thriller by Michael Jackson. The perfect song to get me in the mood for this Halloween post.
2. I'm well aware that today is Halloween, but for some reason I don't really feel it. Probably because I'm already old, or probably because it was never that much of a tradition here in the first place.
3. Tomorrow, we go to the cemetery to pay our respects for our deceased relatives. Compared to Halloween, this is a tradition that we Filipinos certainly practice in this time of the year.
4. Shameless plug: In Memory of the Dead Bloggers. It's my article from last year's Halloween Writer's Jam. Though it didn't win, it was still a very special essay for the Halloween season.
5. It's Saturday, and the news nuggets section still ain't full of news for this week. Heck, most (if not, all) of the news for this week barely mentions anime. I guess this week is one of those slow news week.
6. I'm going back to school next week, in what will hopefully be my final semester in college --- at least, for the Psychology academic program. Oh boy...
7. Why ain't I too excited for the upcoming semester: (1) The darn thesis; (2) The darn internship, and the darn ongoing search for a company with a human resources department to work in; (3) The darn re-take of my Abnormal Psychology course
8. Oh freaking golly!!! I just realized I need to pre-register for the cosplay event in December! Must pre-register before this day is over!
9. After 6 minutes: Okay, I've sent the pre-registration thru e-mail. I'm not really sure if I'm gonna participate in the actual day of the activity, especially due to my Saturday classes. But hey, they did say I can back out later.
10. "The Mask, what will you even cosplay on that day anyway?" That's a secret. You may already have ideas right now, but the reason I'm keeping my mouth shut is because of the skit that I have already planned on doing. So, sorry.
That's all for today. HAVE A NICE DAY!

I got to watch Michael Jackson's This Is It on Wednesday night. Truly a great experience, since it gave me a wonderful glimpse of what was supposed to be the This Is It concerts.
I was amazed at what was being planned for the concerts. From the bulldozer and tragic mini-film in "Earth Song" to the 1940s-style mini-film for "Smooth Criminal" to the actual performances of the songs ("I'll Be There", "They Don't Care About Us", "Billie Jean", "Man in the Mirror", etc.), it was just so wonderful. Michael didn't perform at his very best, which I understood anyway since he was saving it for the actual thing. And that's why it's also so sad --- this plan would never be materialized because the star has left the world.
I gotta say that this film gave me some closure on Michael Jackson's death, though it's still sad to see that Jackson will never be able to perform the actual concert. It would have been so beautiful and so spectacular. Still, one can't help but be happy because of the display of greatness from the King of Pop.

On other stuff, I do hope some of you can also take on the task of posting news in theOtaku. These past days seem so uneventful in the news nuggets section, so I hope some of you can post some newsworthy stuff there.
Also, I'll be looking for a new place to have my internship in human resources. For now, I have to make my application letter and resume first.
That's all for today. HAVE A NICE DAY.

1. This is it. Here I am. I've come back in my World, I feel grand.
2. Well, it's been a long time since I've posted something in the Cafe. Hopefully, everyone's doing well.
3. As you can see in the picture above, I'm gonna watch Michael Jackson's This Is It at a nearby theater. I'm really excited and looking forward to seeing it and having a glimpse of the King of Pop do his thing one last time.
4. There's a reason why it took me so long to post here. I failed to do well in one of my courses, that being Abnormal Psychology, so I needed the time to calm myself down and do some personal reflection.
5. This was my first time to suffer such a fate in a subject in school. If I may borrow a few words from the Michael Jackson song Stranger in Moscow, it really felt like a "swift and sudden fall from grace". I'm so glad I've settled these things already.
6. Ah, sleep. So simple yet so powerful. Who would've thought a simple 2-hour nap in my school would be the key to putting an end to the misery that I've felt when I suffered that fate in that subject in school?
7. I went to an anime/game/comic/hobbies convention recently held inside a mall in the city. Not exactly a very memorable experience for me, since it was below my expectations. Good job on the effort, though.
8. Why wasn't it memorable? Venue was small. Booths could be barely seen since it was covered by the crowd. There were exhibits for breast cancer from a different organization which, I believe, affected the venue and the booths.
9. Cosplay was okay, though there were missed opportunities. Two groups did an anime parody and a song number on stage, which could've worked if only they utilized a mic or pre-recorded audio. Also, some cosplayers didn't know much about who they were cosplaying, which affected their presentation.
10. I'm having plans on doing a cosplay in the near future. However, I need to clear out a few things before I do that. And yeah, the first item was inspired from the "This is It" single.
'Till next time everyone. Have a nice day!
Normally, I'd humorously quote in this blog that "I'm still alive!" whenever I come back here in the Cafe. But as you may have known right now, several parts of the Philippines suffered a huge flood. Reports say that the total amount of rain that fell in these areas was equivalent to a month's worth of rain.
And just so that you would know, I'm still alive. My province was spared from the wrath of the typhoon and the great flood, though I did get a bit wet under the rain. However, many of my countrymen aren't that fortunate.
In a way, I feel a bit ashamed that I have not done my part in extending help for the victims of the typhoon. It's already the second to the last week of this semester, and my mind, money, and time is very much focused on the many requirements and commitments that I have to accomplish at this critical time of the semester. Hopefully, I'll be able to make my contribution soon. If I could not, I would have to pray for them instead.
I hope you can put them in mind in your prayers. I'll do my very best to do so as well, despite my busy schedule. Until then, see you in October.
