My jaw dropped open. "Anything? You can talk to any animal?"
Jay shrugged nonchalantly. "I guess. I wonder why it didn't show up earlier?"
"Maybe we have abilities that are programmed to come at certain times?" Ella suggested.
Kat and Peter, though preoccupied with petting Cloud, were listening intently. "Abilities? Like superpowers?" Peter asked excitedly, his eyes wide.
I frowned. "We really don't know what they did to us, back in the school. I hope my ability shows up soon, so I don't have to worry about it."
Ella shot me a glance. "Whatever happens, we'll stay together, and make sure that no Erasers catch us, right?"
"Right!" We cheered.
"We should rest up for the night." Jay added. "We can keep going in the morning."
