So before I began with my little Phantasia World I thought it might be useful to clear up some name confusion before it begins.
Being the obsessive fanatic I am, I instantly searched for pretty much every single existing piece of info and saved all pictures I found as soon as I beat this game. In short this means I went on Japanese and English websites alike. Along my journey I picked up the habit of typing out the character's names in their original form.
Note, as far as I can tell through watching the OVAs and reading their subtitles long before it was translated and available here in America, there is no difference in pronounciation. The names were simply changed upon English translation so us Americans would pronounce the names correctly. You'll soon see what I mean.
English Japanese
Cress Cless (Most changes are simple like this, being only the l-r switch we see in dubs already)
Mint Mint (no change :D yay)
Chester Chester (last name changed, but I'm too lazy to type it. I believe it had to do with the l-r thing)
Claus Klarth (see? But Klarth is indeed pronounced Claus. It's just more fun to type Klarth)
Arche Arche (again, last name changes but I'm not going to type it. Again I think it's an l-r thing)
Suzu Suzu (no change that I'm aware of)
There are a few other names that are switched around, but I will mention them here as I find them. Once again, I believe it has to do with the r-l change. The only reason I feel like mentioning these name changes is because I do not want someone trying to make corrections when I put 'Cless' instead of 'Cress' or spazzing because they do not know who 'Klarth' is.

I do not own this picture. I forget where I got it because it was two years ago. If the original creator asks, I will take it down. They get full credit for this awesomeness.
