Chapter 2; Is this your son Brenden?

The Kokiri forest was alive with activity that bright late summer morning. Mido, the unspoken leader of the Kokiri, was pleased with his newly acquired item: just this morning he had finally located the elusive Kokiri sword, and had saved enough for the wooden shield. He was telling his brother that he was on his way to make the purchase when Saria ran past.

Saria, of course, was a vision of beauty. She had a bright, engaging smile and long, soft hair that was just the right shade of green. Her figure was pleasing and her personality easily made her one of the most popular among the Kokiri. Mido, of course, was smitten, and one day hoped to make Saria his bride.

“Saria!” He called out to her. She paused, and turned her melting smile on him.
“What is it, Mido?” Her soft voice played like music on his ears.
“I....” he stammered, then gathered his thoughts. “I.....” Too embarrassed to show off the sword he found this morning, he settled for, “Good morning, Saria.....you....look....” panic set in. “...well groomed.”
The briefest moment of puzzlement crossed her face, then she said brightly, “thank you, Mido.”
Mido’s younger brother Odim said, “where are you off to today, Saria?” He knew how much his elder brother fancied Saria, and wanted to help fill in the awkward gaps.
“Oh!” Saira replied, “I’m going to Jeff’s house.” To Mido’s horror, she blushed.
Then she grinned, and waved her hand at him. “See you later, Tails!” and ran off in the direction of the lonely tree on the edge of the clearing.
Odim turned to his brother. “Don’t worry, Elder Brother....once she sees your shield, she’ll fall for you.”
Mido nodded. “Then I should go purchase it directly.” And he wandered off in the direction of the store.

“OK,” Navi said, her tone no longer pleasant. “You’ve had breakfast, watched the news, checked your email, took a bath, scrubbed your feet, scrubbed your cat’s feet....”
“Not my kitty,” Jeff corrected.
“I’m not his kitty,” Sally confirmed. “I’m his friend...who is a kitty.”
“...yes, yes, my bad...” Navi was beginning to regret the antics that landed her this assignment... “flossed, scrubbed your toilet, did the laundry, and prepared meatloaf for dinner tonight. Can we PLEASE go see the Tree?”
“Without doing the New York Times Crossword Puzzle first?” Jeff sounded as if this was something any idiot should know.
“We don’t even get the Times here,” Navi pointed out. “All we get is the Daily Bark....”
“I know,” said Jeff. “It’s called the internet....”
“But...” Navi clenched her teeth in anger.
“Sally, what’s my log-on?”
“Oh....” Sally replied. “How should I know? Should’ve wrote it down, genius. Not your secretary.”
“Well, what do you THINK it is?”
“Can we please...”
“Hm...let me see...knowing you...I’d have to say.....Rupee.”
“Let me try it...”
“Hey, listen...”
“Nope, that’s not it...”
“OK, try little annoying fairy that won’t shut up.”
“That’s kinda long.....”
“Hey...”
“No, I mean this little annoying fairy won’t shut up.” Sally gave Navi a glance, which said, “you think you are high enough...but you aren’t” Navi flew up just a few more feet, keeping a wary eye on the cat.
“I’ve got it,” Jeff finally said triumphantly.
“What was it?”
“It was swipypaws.” He grinned, logged on, and began the crossword puzzle.
Navi rubbed her temples. “Can we go....” she paused... “when you are done?”
“Well,” said Sally thoughtfully, “we still have to place a grocery order with PeaPod, do our taxes, check our auction items on eBay, and scrub all the neighbourhood squirrels.”

Several hours later, a weary Navi lead Jeff and Sally out the front door. As they climbed down the ladder, Saria rushed up to them.
“Hey! Hello, Jeff!!!”
Jeff drew in a deep breath.
Saria noticed Navi floating above his head. “Oh! I see you have a fairy at last!”
“Yeah,” Jeff replied. “She’s Item No. 60876 on eBay, seller’s name: SwipyPaws.”
“WHAT?” Navi could not believe what she just heard. “You can’t sell me!!”
“The bidding is up to six rupees,” Sally informed Saria. “Better hurry...or Buy It Now for twelve rupees.”
“Ah...” Saria was unsure of how to respond.
“You’re also on there,” Jeff said cheerfully. “One Original Female Kokiri: starting bid: 200 rupees.”
Saria threw back her head and laughed. “That’s what I like about you, Jeff! Always so full of jokes!”
“He’s probably not joking,” Navi said sourly.
Sally narrowed her eyes and stared hard at the fairy.
Saria continued. “I heard you got a summons from the Great Deku Tree.” She paused. “Its too bad that Mido found the Kokiri sword before you did. You’ll need a sword and shield if the Deku Tree wants you...” She sighed and stared dreamily at Jeff. “Only heroes get top missions by the Deku Tree.”
In moves too fast for the human eye to follow, Sally had Navi snatched from the air and clutched in her claws. “Hey,” Sally said lazily. “Fairy.”
“N...Navi...” replied the terrified prisoner.
“What’s all this then, about a sword and shield?”
“Well....” Navi stammered.... “you’ll probably need one...”
“PROBABLY?” Sally shouted, closing her claws just slightly.
“Yesyesyes” Navi squeezed her eyes shut and shouted: “you’ll need one you’ll need one you’ll need one!!!”
Jeff drew in a deep breath. Then he turned to Saria. “Where is....Mido?”

Mido emerged from the shop with his new shield on his back. He drew his sword and made a few playful stabs. He was the man. The king. He was the one girls (especially Saria) dream of, lust after, desire....he was the one all women wanted. Oh yes, the girls would be fighting each other for a chance at Mido, to feel his manly lips upon their skin, to smell his manly scent....to admire his moobs....his Manly Moobs....
“Hello Mido.”
“Jeff...”
“See you got a sword and shield there.”
“Uh..”
“Funny, isn’t that just what we need to go see the Great Deku Tree, Sally?”
“I think it is.”
“Uh...”
“Yes, I thought it was.”
“Heeheeheeheeeeeee.....”

Jeff never looked very buff. In fact, he looked rather scrawny. Mido, on the other hand, worked out every day, lifting rocks, jogging, doing the Richard Simmons Sweating to Oldies tapes...Mido was very proud of his physique. It was tanned, toned, firm, and beautiful.

It was also lying helplessly on the ground, beaten and robbed of a Kokiri Sword and Shield....and, as an added touch, his wallet.

At long last Navi the Fairy returned to the Great Deku Tree, her mission complete. She was...frazzled. A few strands of hair escaped her ponytail.. you could even say a few new wrinkles appeared...and a few new grey hairs....but it was done, over, and she’d not have to deal with this horrible, horrible child again. And Not His Kitty.

The Great Deku Tree stirred. “Navi,” he rumbled. “What tooketh thou so long? Were you scrubbing all the squirrels in the forest?”
“Yes,” Navi said levelly. “We were scrubbing all the squirrels in the forest.”
“Navi...” the Deku Tree paused as he caught sight of Jeff. “Is this your son Brenden?”
“No, Great Deku Tree....”Navi’s eyes nervously darted from side to side, unsure of what to say. “Boy of destiny? Remember?”
“No,” stated the Tree baldly. “I don’t need no telemarketers selling me destiny. Navi.”
“Yes, Great Deku Tree?”
“Fly, Navi, fly...the fate of the forest...nay...the entire....is this your son Brenden?”
“ah....”
“Brenden?”
Jeff shrugged. “I’m right here, Grandpa.”
“Is it pudding day, Brenden?”
“Yes, Grandpa,” Sally said, playing along, “its pudding day, Grandpa.”
“I love pudding day,” The Deku Tree, inasmuch a trees can, smiled. “Brenden?”
“Yes, Grandpa?” Jeff replied automatically.
“Wanna hear a war story, Brenden?”
“Sure, Grandpa.”
“Ah. It was 1919 when we were trapped in the trenches in France during WWI. The mustard gas was flying, let me tell you. I turned to my buddy, Robbs, and he said...Navi? Come hither...”
Navi looked around nervously, unsure of what to do. “What?” she hissed.
“Navi, now is the time for the boy without a fairy.....”the Tree paused again, then asked, “is this your son, Brenden? Is it Take Your Child To Work Day?”
“Ahhh...” Navi drew a deep breath. “Great Deku Tree....FOCUS!!! This is the Boy of Destiny....”
“Your son, Brenden?”
“Fine. Its Brenden. He’s here to listen to your war stories.”
“Brenden. Come hither.”
Jeff shrugged, and stepped forward. “What da ya want, ol’ man?”
“Brenden...why did you put me in a home, Brenden? I don’t like it here, Brenden.”
Jeff said, “you’re not in a home, Grandpa.”
“Brenden?”
“What, Grandpa?”
For several minutes the Tree was silent. Then it rustled its leaves. “Brenden. You need to talk to the doctor, Brenden. I don’t like the meds they are giving me here , Brenden.”
Navi leaned closer to Jeff and whispered, “he’s not taking meds.”
“Maybe,” Jeff said aloud, uncaring who heard him, “he should start.”
“Brenden?”
This time Sally answered. “What, Grandpa?”
“There’s this curse, Brenden.” The Tree paused again. “Navi?”
Navi wasn’t sure if she should be hopeful or not. “Yes?”
“This curse, must be.....” The Tree paused.
“I think he fell asleep,” Sally commented.
Navi bit her lip, then bounced up and down on the Tree several times. “HEY!!”
A snort told the trio the Tree had woken up. “Brenden?”
“I’m right here, Grandpa!!” Sally and Jeff said in unison.
“Pudding day? Please, tell me its pudding day...”

Will The Great Deku Tree ever shut up about pudding long enough for them to get the Kokiri Emerald? Is the fate of the forest...nay, the entire world, depending upon a senile old tree? Does the Great Deku Tree even know a Brenden? Find out all this and more on the next episode of Everybody Loves Brenden.

Chapter One: Enter the Fairy (By: Haruka Kanata and Hatake Yoshimi)

The sun broke over the horizon, its rays flooding the forest with its warmth and light. One forest dweller, however, was too deep in thought to notice.
If trees were able to sigh, the Great Deku Tree would do just that. However, he settled for rustling his branches slightly, even though no breeze danced through them. His hazy eyes saw a small, bouncing light at the very edge of the clearing. She had come, just as he had asked.

"Navi," said the Great Deku Tree. If centuries could sound old, that is what his voice would sound like. "Navi, come hither." Navi the fairy flew closer to the Deku Tree, father and protector of them all. "Navi," his voice rumbled, "my time for slumber is nigh."

"Great Deku Tree," Navi was surprised at the shakiness of her own voice. "Please - don't say such things!"

"Navi," and he paused, as if gathering his thoughts. "Long have I protected this forest from evil, but I knew that this day would arrive....and much sooner than I expected. Navi, the time has come for the boy without a fairy to awaken. Navi, you must bring him to me."

Navi bit her lip nervously and looked down at the grass. "Erm...."

"Navi," the Deku Tree rumbled softly. "You do know of whom I speak? The boy without a fairy. Go hither, and bring him to me."

Navi drew in a short, deep breath. "Is...I mean...." she shuffled her feet, in as much as it is possible to do so while hovering in the air. "Isn't there someone else....more worthy of this honor?"

"There is no one else, Navi - you know this to be true."

"Yeah.....um.....I...." Navi rubbed the back of her head nervously. "I've heard...I've heard stories..." and she paused to stress the word "stories" as if it was distasteful, "and...well, the truth is, I really don't want to."

"Navi," The Deku Tree rustled his branches again, giving the sound of a soft sigh. "Last Christmas Party...which fairy was it that putteth her fanny on the copier and madeth 100 copies of her posterior?"

Navi shifted nervously. "I had a bit too much holiday cheer, Great Deku Tree, if you know what I mean..."

"And whicheth fairy was it that TP'd me last April Fool's Day?"

"Ivan dared me to, Great Deku Tree...."

"And whicheth fairy was it that carved her initials on my owneth posterior?"

Navi hung her head, defeated, and muttered, "OK, OK.... I'll go get the boy without a fairy."

"Navi," The Great Deku Tree rumbled with some satisfaction, "what goes around, comes around. Now fly, Navi, fly...the fate of the forest...nay, the entire world, depends upon thee." Navi turned without a word and flew in the direction of the Kokiri Village, waving her hand behind her as her only reply.

The boy in question was a cherubic lad of ten. He had the appearance of innocence and goodness - blond hair; wide, deep blue eyes, and a roundness to his cheeks that can only be described as pinchable. His constant companion was a small black cat with purple ears and a purple bow around her neck. Navi shuddered as flew, thinking of the rumors she had heard - it had been whispered that he lost his first fairy because the cat ate it.

Navi flew through the village, saying hello to the Kokiri she passed, then paused when she saw the tree. She drew in a deep breath, steeled her nerve, and flew towards the tree where the horrible boy lived. So deep was she in concentration that she flew into a fence and cracked her head. A small noise of pain escaped. She backed up, shook her head clear, and continued forward. She paused once more outside his window and glanced back in the direction she had come.

"Great Deku Tree," she said softly, clenching her fists. "I would not do this if it were not destiny." She glanced down at her own feet. "I also would not be doing this had I not been caught at a few things." With those words, she drew in a deep breath and flew into his window.

The boy was asleep, the cat curled up at the end of his bed. Hoping she judged the distance correctly and keeping a wary eye on the sleeping cat, Navi floated above his head and shouted, "Hey!"

The boy did not move.

Navi began to bounce up and down, keeping one eye on the cat, just in case. "Hey, Listen!!" She shouted again. The boy shifted in his sleep and the cat's ear twitched. "HEY!!" Navi shouted again, "Jeff!! Wake up!!" Can Hyrule's destiny really depend on such a lazy boy? Navi wondered if perhaps the Deku Tree might have gone a bit senile in his old age.

Finally the boy began to stir. He sat up slowing, rubbing his eyes and stretching. The cat, sensing the movement, raised her head and locked her eyes on the bouncing fairy.

"Ahhh ha ha," Navi laughed nervously, tensing her muscles for quick flight. "Nice to meet you, Jeff. I'm Navi the fairy. The Great Deku Tree wants to see you right away."

"What?" The boy known as Jeff looked at the small flying fairy. The cat, known as Sally, sat up.

"The Great Deku Tree," Navi repeated. "He wants to see you right away."

"How could a tree want to see me?" Jeff asked.

Navi was unprepared for such a question. "I...." she moved slightly up as the cat stood up and arched her back in a deep stretch. "I....Look, the tree wants to see you. He has something to say to you."

"Really?" Jeff blinked. "A Tree. And you know he's a boy tree?"

"What?"

"Yeah," piped in Sally the cat. "I mean, you checked and everything. Lifted his tail, and such."

"I don't think trees have tails, Sally," Jeff chided her slightly.

"Thank you," Navi began.

Jeff cut her off. "I think," he continued, "they're just out there in the open."

"What," Sally said, "You mean, his.....bits? Right out there for all to see?"
"Well I'd suspect so," replied Jeff. "I mean, where else would a tree keep them?"

"In his pocket, maybe," Sally suggested.

Jeff paused to give this deep consideration. Finally he said, "possibly."

Navi blinked rapidly. "Look," she interjected. "The tree wants to see you, though Din knows why - I'm sure if he knew you, he'd pick a mushroom, or something else."

"But," Jeff carried on as if he hadn't even heard the fairy. "Does a tree have a pocket?"

"Where else would he keep his bits?" Sally replied back.

"Maybe its in his roots."

"What, the pocket or the bits?"

Jeff paused again, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "Well, if his bits are in his pocket, and the pocket is in the roots, then all are underground together."

"Hello?"

"Anyway," Jeff said, "the biggest question is, why does this fairy think a tree can talk?"

"Or have bits," Sally added.

Jeff finally turned to the fairy, "I think," he addressed Navi, "you must not be living a clean life, if all you think about are tree bits."

Navi rubbed her temples. "I never...." she began again. "Look, can you please just follow me?"

"No." Jeff said simply.

Navi blinked. "What? But...but I....the tree....destiny..." her voice trailed off.

"I don't really care," he said lazily. "Do you care, Sally?"

"About what?"

"Tree bits."

"Oh. No. No I don't."

Navi tried to force herself calm. "I don't want you to see tree bits."

"Then why," Jeff said triumphantly, "is that all you are talking about?"

"You brought it up!" Navi's voice raised with irritation.

"You're the one who flew in here and just starting pouring your filth down our little kid throat. I don't need to be hearing crap like this."

"What if I told you there was a ton of cash as a reward?" Navi tried to play on greed, a basic human instinct

"I doubt there's any cash left," said Jeff.

"Yeah," Sally added. "We've stolen all the wallets and treasure in this crap forest."

Navi bit her lip. "What if I told you you could leave this crap forest if you come and talk to this tree?"

"Now that," said Jeff, "Interests me."

What can Happen next? Will they follow the fairy to the tree? Will that fairy ever stop talking her filth? Will the Cat Eat the Fairy? Find out next time on the next episode of Dragonball Z...or stay tuned for chapter 2.

Tales from the mind of Haruka; A fan fic thing

"I would like to meet your sensei." Itachi said, not averting his gaze. Haruka was stunned. Only people with a death wish had ever seeked out Yoshimi, or the mental. Haruka herself had nothing to lose when she searched for this priestess.

"....Yes, well...Its not this easy. And I'm not taking you there." Haruka said, a little bit on the defensive side. This time the shark man, who Haruka had heard of from the village she used to train in, smiled. The grin sent a chill through Haruka's spine. She shuttered then jumped up. "The rain stopped, so I'll be...Uh, leaving now bye!"
With that she ran out the door.

The rain, witch was now coming down harder, hit Haruka in the face. She winced when the rain drops hit her eyes. She ran for awhile, only stopping when a bolt of lighting struck, lighting up the sky. Before the light faded Haruka noticed a silhouette on the horizon. The figure walked closer. Only when another lighting bolt struck did Haruka know who it was.

"OI! Yoshimi!" she yelled over the rain. Yoshimi was now in spitting distance. "Haruka. Your late." Her voice was cold yet calm. For a small woman, Yoshimi had a 'mess with me and die' air about her. Haruka lowered her head. "I is very sorry Yo-sensei..." "......You had better not be late again. Now lets head back." she turned to walk away. Haruka looked up. Yoshimi had waved aside her lateness. That means no pain! Haruka grinned but it disappeared almost immediately. Yoshimi stopped and looked back.

"Now what?" She asked. Haruka messed with her hair band, which she had removed at the abandoned house. She always thought better when she fiddled with something. "Well?" Yoshimi asked again, this time a little more annoyed. "I, uh, ran into someone interesting...well, I mean interested in you."

An amused look crossed the short woman's face. "Oh really?" She said. "Yeah. He wanted to meet you, and I told him I wouldn't escort him here and I left to quick to hear him answer, if he even did." Yoshimi paused. "Do you know who he was?" "Yes. Yes I do. You remember when we were talking about what had happened with the Uchihas, right?"

"he was an Uchiha?"
"Well, yes. Yes he was."
"Sasuke?"
"No...his brother, Itachi."
Now Yoshimi appeared even more amused. "So, Itachi. I wonder what he wants..."

The rain had cleared up by the time Yoshimi and Haruka had reached the Neko chan. The Neko chan was a wonderful temple filled with sacred artifacts, inner dimensions, and cats. Yoshimi loved cats and Haruka wasn't complaining. This sacred temple was almost impossible to find and was one of the few places Haruka COULD find.

After training, Haruka sat outside in the gardens. It was still quite outside as if another storm was approaching. Haruka was still thinking about what had happened. How did Itachi know about Yoshimi? She pushed this away. She was to tired to think strait. Tomorrow she would head back to Konoha and see what was happening with everyone, but now, she just wanted sleep.

Tales from the mind of Haruka; A fan fic thing

Chapter 1
The wind blew strong across the vast field on this cloudy day. Thunder rumbled softly in the distance, promising rain. A girl wearing a rain cloak seemed not to notice, but instead, just kept muttering to herself.

"....I really wish I had a sense of direction..." she said, looking up at the sky. Shrugging, she turned and starting walking, hoping like hell this was the way she needed to go.

"ok, If I remember correctly...Konoha should be.." A loud crash of thunder and sudden down pour interrupted her.
"sigh! Why?" she groaned.

The young girl ran for cover as the rain grew heaver, Muttering "why" with every step. In the distance, she could see what appeared to be a small shack. She ran toward it.

"Heddo?" She asked poking her head through the slightly opened door. No answer came. Assuming no one was home, or even lived here, she sat down.

Haruka was a small girl with skin the colour of snow. She was skinny, with a rather generous chest, witch looked off on her small figure. Her thick blackish blueish hair refused to stay up in its ponytail any longer. It had gotten heavy from the rain. Her once baggy clothes were now clinging to her uncomfortably.

The most distinguished feature about Haruka were her pupils. She had never seen anyone else with white pupils like her. This made her happy.

"Man! Yoshimi-sensei is NOT gonn-sta be happy with me for being late!" Haruka worried about what would happen when she finally arrived at the place where she would meet her sen-sei.

Yoshimi is...well, a "strict" teacher, putting it lightly. And Haruka knew that she would probably face the shinai when she arrived.

Haruka was staring at the wall while she thought, and swore she saw something move. She showed no reaction to see if it would move again. And it did. A man walked up to Haruka and asked bluntly "You said something about Yoshimi, didn't you?" Haruka was taken aback. How did this guy know about Yoshimi?

The man that had spoke to her had long black hair. He also had a ninja headband. Haruka recognized it immediately as the leaf headband, only this one had a line through it. He also wore a long coat. Black with red clouds.

Haruka knew who this man was all too well. She had heard about him from her sensei. He continued to stare at her. It was hard to tell what this man was thinking. "I....gluh..." she stammered. His expression changed slightly, in a "I must have miss heard" kind of way. He started to move back to where he had apparently come from and Haruka noticed another man there. He had the same coat. But this on looked like a shark.

"Yes. I said something about Yoshimi sensei. How do you even know her?" Now he looked amused, even though it was hard to tell. Haruka waited for an answer, but he never said a thing. (Kay,...He must be thinking about what he wants to say...) Haruka stared intensely at both of the men. Only blinking when her eyes became watery.

Silence

Finally, Itachi spoke. "I would like to meet...Your sensei..."
