This "Wonderful" Disaster Of Destiny

The streets were lit silently with dim lights that swung from their posts and flickered with flames as the tremulous winds enveloped them.
The air around the trees swirled the branches, making flower petals and leaves scatter and run in the wind. The earth was soft under my boots, and the small pebbles skid out from under my heels with little effort. The world was at peace.
I grinned with the taste of bitter sweetness on my tongue.
The slow and sour churning of irony in my gut.
What a fool to think that the eyes of the world had closed!
How the wind blew then, with its furious response.
I could only chuckle at the image of the council members when they saw the city, calmly and calculatingly burnt to a crisp.
Its citizens scattered about like rag dolls on the streets.
The very sound of mayhem, and anarchy written palpably in the air.
I stopped to picture it more vividly, tilting my head sharply upward to face the dark night sky.
The stars were glittering like polished pearls, and the moon was peeking out of its own shadow.
It gleamed like an orb of light in the sullen darkness.
The crisp evilness enshrouding it with clouds.
Oh how I hated that view.
I leaned my head back down, towards the wind and earth.
A sharp and sudden howl broke the sinful tranquility I had aspired my memory to.
I clicked my teeth ever so softly at the sound; making a noise like steal clashing against steel.
Then, like a ghost, I flitted off of the path I walked on and danced amongst the trees with blinding speed.
I crept on; faster and faster.
The chase starting my never-beating heart, and making my face twist with satisfaction.
"Come and get me, please, come!" I screamed to myself aloud.
I laughed; the laugh of a madman.
Desire to kill reaching my throat as the next of their howls came.
I growled at the air that bit into my pale skin.
I paused.
Two, three, four! I counted the howls that echoed through the dark fog of the forest, as I stood motionless in the shadows.
I breathed sharper now.
Where was the fifth? I had no urge to face these simple fools; I wanted their leader!
Why had he not come to defend the last of his people?
Was he such a fool as to expect me dead at their measly claws? "Wretch!" I cried.
Then, I breathed a curse under my breath and sped up my pace hollowly.
The chase was no chase; I was running too far ahead for them.
They were not my target, and I was not going to let my handy work go to waste on them.
I sped on, reaching the wooden bridge I had crossed earlier.
I kicked the dirt off of my boots quietly, stomping them lightly on the ground.
I shook the leaves out of my matted hair, letting them fall to the floor.
My black bangs wiping in the fresh wind blocked my view for a second.
I trudged blindly forward.
As I reached the middle of the bridge, I stopped and allowed myself a quick glance below.
Nothing but darkness glared back at me.
I felt the madness of my actions before I carried them out.
The tugging of fear at my stomach, delicious pain and fear knotting my insides.
I smiled and jumped into the abyss.
As I fell, black and blue buzzed around me in swirls.
Twisted rocks with sharp points glared at me like pointed fangs.
Darkness crept about my pale skin, making it glow in contrast.
I felt, for a brief moment, as if I was drowning in gravity’s pull.
Then, I landed softly and abruptly at the bottom of the crevice, no longer standing on a soggy forest floor.
I glared ahead at the entrance of the gray castle that toward before me.
Its large wooden door frowning down like an displeased demon.
Its gaping windows, black and empty with red curtains, were like hollow eyes.
I felt them pierce my soul, as if imaginary figures danced threateningly behind them.
My skin prickled.
Fear was not so delicious then.
I walked forward and grated my long fingernails against the door.
It flew open, and I entered as it slammed behind me.
I shed my over coat and placed my bangs back down from where the wind had blown them.
I retracted my nails and stepped knowingly forward.
Out of the shadows emerged a man with stark white hair dangling in a long braid down his right shoulder and covering part of his face.
He wore a crimson suit with a red tie, and leered at me with piercing green eyes.
His face, though old with time, held no severe wrinkles.
Just a bit of crowfeet near his eyes told of his since-passed youth.
I extended my hand in front of me and bowed politely.
He did the same.
Then, without another word, I followed him into the darkness, knowing all to well what lay beyond.
