News: Scooby-Doo Voice Actor Casey Kasem Kicks the Bucket

Today is indeed a sad day for fans of Scooby-Doo, Transformers, and/or DC Comics. For this morning, it was reported that this morning, Casey Kasem had kicked the bucket. He was at age 82 when this happened. We know him as the guy who voiced Shaggy for various incarnations of Scooby-Doo (including 1969's Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!) as well as Dick Grayson/Robin for the various animated Superfriends series and 1968's The Adventures of Batman (with Robin The Boy Wonder, and of course Teletran I, Cliffjumper, Dr. Archeville, and Bluestreak for 1984's The Transformers (aka "Transformers Generation One"). Some North America-based anime fans may remember him as the voice of Mark/G-1 in Battle of the Planets, the 1978 Americanized re-dub and re-edit of the 1972 Japanese Animated series Science Ninja Team Gatchaman.

The American animation industry has lost another legendary and well talented voice actor. He will be missed.
