News: He-Man To Return to Comics in July 2012

Although this piece of news was revealed at DCComics.com on Friday, I just found this out today. It's now official that DC Comics will be working on its first Masters of the Universe comic book series since its 1982 miniseries (but note that the MOTU characters made their first comic appearance in DC Comics Presents Vol. 1 No. 47, which featured a crossover beween Superman and He-Man).

In this new comic book series, Skeletor had long won a major battle and took over Eternia with the Masters of The Universe no longer having any memory of any previous triumph of theirs. Meanwhile, a woodsman named "Adam", once having strange dreams of Eternia's mighty and muscular champion He-Man, soon learns from a sorceress that those dreams were in fact memories of his forgotten past, and now he must venture out to regain his powers and bring back the Masters of teh unvierse into action to overthrow Skeletor for good.

From what i read at DC's site, it seems DC maybe trying to create a new continuity for Masters of The Universe, despite that a cover art showing He-Man as he appeared in the 1983 He-Man aniamted T.V. series.

It will launch sometime in July and run for six issues. Therefore, it will be a miniseries. And it will be written by James Robinson, the co-writer of Superman: World of New Krypton and Superman: War of The Supermen.
