Haha, this reminds me of why I am such a terrible drawer.
You know, I am loving the blue theme in the drawings. The light blue comes off to me like a light, breezy day, as if I am looking in the sky and there's the day right there. :)
I have my own problems with drawing hands. Right now, I mostly leave them off because I don't want to ruin the picture, but I know I'll have to improve it eventually. I'll take your idea and try to simplify the hands a bit more, hopefully it will help!
When I did life drawing classes, we went through several of those lessons about proportion and identifying the core shapes before filling in the detail.
I still managed to have major problems drawing hands, haha. To this day it's one of the most complicated things for me. I'm actually better at drawing faces than hands (although I suppose faces aren't too difficult...)
Your artwork is incredibly cool. The style reminds me of a series of little cards that I saw in a small gift shop in the city not long ago.

Glad to see you back, too.
