I woke up the next morning with the sun on my face. Kuori wasn’t in the bed, but the smell of bacon cooking told me he was making breakfast. I got up and headed straight for the kitchen and sure enough, a messy haired Kuori was at the stove flipping bacon. “Hey handsome.” I greeted, leaning up against the archway.
“Good morning, breakfast is almost done.” He said with a smile. “I just have to make the eggs.” I sat down at the kitchen table and watched Kuori. His hair was beautifully tousled, and he had already changed out of his pajamas into his ripped blue jeans and a white tshirt. He finished up the eggs quickly and put some food on two plates, grabbing silverware before turning to come to the table. He caught me staring and stopped. “What is it?” He asked.
“I was just thinking.” I answered.
“About?” He asked, handing me my plate and sting down across from me.
“How cute you look.” I answered as I dug into my food.
“Is that so?” He raised his eye brow and took a bite himself.
“Umhmm.” I nodded.
“Well, you look beautiful, so I guess we are even.” He said.
“No way.” I shook my head. Then I jumped when I heard my phone buzzing on the table. I grabbed it and flipped it open. “It’s Tai.” I said. “I’m eating breakfast with kuori, and what are you doing?” I said as I typed it out and hit send.
“Does Tai want to hang out today?” Kuori asked.
“I’m not sure, we’ll find out in a few.” My phone buzzed again.
I’m in bed. “He’s, still in bed.” I said to Kuori.
What are you sick or something? Lol I sent back, and continued to eat. The next message came and I was full, so I turned my attention to talking to Tai.

Oh I’m really sorry, do you need anything? Are you ok? I sent. “He’s sick.” I said to Kuori.
“That’s a bummer.” He said as he grabbed my plate to carry it to the sink along with his. “We just graduated, we were gonna celebrate sometime soon.”
I’m fine, I was just letting you know ahead of time if I look like death when I head over to Kuori’s house in a few days. I read. “Did you know Tai was coming over in a few days?” I asked Kuori.
“No, I had no idea.” He answered.
Oh, what for? Not that you aren’t welcome, I’m just curious.
Mine and his parents are going on a vacation for a month apparently. I read it aloud for Kuori. “They are?” Kuori said.
“Sorry Kuori, we were going to tell you this morning, but I guess Taisuke beat us to the punch.” I saw Kuori’s mother come into the kitchen.
“It’s alright, I was just surprised.” He said.
“Thank you for breakfast. I couldn’t help but over hear, Taisuke is sick?”
“Yes.” I answered.
“Maybe he is getting a new power.” Kuori’s mom pointed out.
“Oh yeah.” I said. Do you think it’s because of a new power? I sent Tai.
I think so. It had better be worth all this crap. He sent.

Ok, see you later. I closed my phone and left to get dressed. After I brushed my hair I came back out and Kuori was leaning up against the counter. “Mi?” He looked over at me.
“Yes?” I asked.
“A new artifact activated, I have to go and get it.” He said.
“Take me with you!” I asked.
“I’m sorry but it’s dangerous having you come with me.”
“Please please please? I’ll be good.” I pouted.
“I said no.” He said, but he was obviously avoiding my eyes. I got really close to him and twirled some of his hair around my finger.
“Aw come on Kuori, I want to see Zero in action.” I said.
“But it’s too dangerous.”
“Not if you’re there, plus I would be a good look out.” I tried to reason.
“Fine, you can come.” He sighed in utter defeat.
“Yay!” I kissed his cheek and put my shoes on fast. “Well come on slow poke, we have a job to do!” He sighed again and stood up from the table.
“It’s in an abandoned building.” He said.
“Aw yeah, it’ll be just like an action movie!” I said, overflowing with excitement.
“Just try to be careful. I don’t want you getting hurt.” Kuori said as he walked over towards me.
“I’ll be just fine, no one will catch us if we sneak into a place like that. I’ll be extra careful just in case the floor is sketchy.” I promised.
“Ok, I just don’t want you to get hurt.” He repeated. He changed into Zero, and went to get his usual full black attire on. Then we went out to his motorcycle and got our helmets on.
“Ok, time to see my love do what he does best.” I smiled.
