Yesterday was more involving than I was originally thinking.
So late morning, we had a lion dance at some high school. It was entertainment for some community "get involved, fight racism, come together" kind of thing.
I get the feeling the turnout wasn't anything near where what they were hoping for it. Sucks for them. In any case, we went in quickly, lion did its thang, people were amused enough . . . whatever.
Went for yum-cha after that. That's always fun. But moving on . . .
Evening was our club's annual dinner. Part of my luck is that since I'm old now, I don't have to do as much for these performances. Like, I actually get to sit and eat at these dinners now! Granted, I still had to do a few things, especially for the lion dances . . . but mostly, I got to just chill, eat, enjoy the show . . .
. . . and make great use of my fun little Canon FS100. For example, check out this ridiculous thing the kids put on:
I'll try to upload some of the other kids as time goes on . . . it just takes a long time since the video's set on 6mb/s so files get big fast.
But yeah . . . we were pretty much pissing ourselves with that lion dance. Really amusing.
And I'm definitely looking forward to the YouTube comments from people telling us how disrespectful we're being to the lions and stuff. That'll be good.
I was just thinking about her tonight. She wrote a lot of SasuSaku fanfics that were actually really really good, and I remember always being happy she was around to write them and build up Fan Words early on.
I guess mostly I was thinking about after that one messed up incident, I commented on one of her stories telling her how sad it was that while she was a legitimately excellent author, her perceived popularity came through artificial means.
If not about that specifically, then about how a little bit after that she ended up writing a story dedicated to me "for reaffirming her interest in writing" or something. I always thought that was kinda neat.
Evidently, she's deleted her page from the site. I wonder when that happened . . . that's such a shame. 'Cause she was really good . . .
. . . . . random thought, I dunno. Just funny when you think about people who've come and gone . . . I wonder where tess is now . . .

I found out where Tess is. She's apparently back on the site in a new name. Fancy that!
It's Beck's 21st today. Ironically she's already in Japan the day she can legally buy booze in The States - gotta love that. Surely the girl will make a post about that soon so we can comment correctly.
Also, I got a notice about it via theO automation too. Most interesting . . .
Anyway, Happy Birthday Becky, tanjoubi omedatou and all that. Now hurry up and post so I can do the song, will ya?
Beyond that . . .
Watched "Teeth" with Alexa the other day. For a movie about vagina dentata and featuring several fairly explicit dismemberments, quite well done. Adam wonders how I can even watch such a thing as it should be nightmare fuel to the extreme for all men. Girl playing the lead really nails it, though, since she really is an incredibly sweet, innocent girl for the most part trying to make sense of what's going on with herself. Then she reclaims herself and goes on the warpath. Dang. Actually a fairly thought-provoking and very intelligent movie outside of the parts that are just straight-up funny as hell - not even being sarcastic, this is a really well-thought out story.
Hey Becky, have you seen Teeth yet? I feel like it'd be something you'd enjoy. Heh, weirdo.
