Welcome to my world.

I'm SomeGuy, 29 years old, residing in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I've studied English Literature, Chinese Martial Arts, and am currently pursuing careers in writing - possibly even in the anime industry itself.

And I work for this site.

And you should be watching Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad.
Or watching Ranma 1/2.
Or learning about the Shinsengumi.
Or planning to visit Vancouver, The Best Place On Earth (actual marketing motto).

Here at the "Smallville" page, I have my personal blog where I'll post about anything and everything. If ya need me or otherwise need to know anything from/about me, here's where I'll be.

If you're really looking for my more professional, site-type stuff, you wanna head over my "Metropolis" world.

Well, I'm Back . . .

Vacation's over. Cons are over. Bittersweet ending in general.

And now we return to your regularly scheduled programming.

Post-Con Bits

Anime Revolution was alright. Way overpriced, not nearly enough to do, and all kinds of cracks in the front if you know where to look for 'em. All the same, I had fun on account that these are all literally the same people I only ever get to see a few times every year and we always make the most of it.

The people make the con'. I suppose in theory we wouldn't need to spend $75 on just hanging out with people, but hey. Local con scene deserves love in general, was how my friend put it.

Anyway, a few more pictures from my instagram whoring all weekend:

Also, fun fact . . . though I didn't know it at the time, the Sunday guest judge for the "King of Bishounen Walkoff" was Jessica Nigiri, who was dressed as Rainbow Dash and is apparently very famous. Even not knowing how famous she was, I still had it in me to tell her later in the day that "she made the judging twenty percent cooler".

Other than that . . . um . . . this happened outside the convention centre at the end of the day:

So yes. One con down, two to go!

For those who don't follow me elsewhere . . .

Here, have a few pictures:

Decent con. Fun to be at, albeit extremely bare in terms of programming. Also, I imagine behind-the-scenes is all kinds of drama right now. Well, it's one way to spend a weekend, I suppose . . .

Catching up . . .

So here's what's been happening over in my world these days . . .

That friend of mine passed away last Saturday. His funeral will be this coming Saturday morning, and as such I'll be skipping half a day at con for this. In the end I'd say the guy had a good run; when we first heard about the complications they had only given him a few days, and he went on to have 40 more. His family and he himself had more time to prepare, and I think in the end it was okay. Rest in peace, Alwin.

I'm planning on taking about two and a half weeks of vacation from work starting tomorrow, just in time for the summer convention rush. But oh boy, is work giving it to me in the process - six straight days on, and they've all been with thinned out hours and all kinda of terrible, terrible machine difficulty. I actually spilled a solid amount of photo development waste water across my shins and down the other day - felt grody. So yeah, today'll be my last day of work before all that. And hopefully it won't suck too much. Because yesterday sucked. Blah.

Convention-wise, it's Anime Revolution this weekend - still feel kinda gross about registering for this one since it's super expensive and is run by "these guys nobody knows". But, a convention is a convention, and I may as well give these guys a bit of a chance. I guess. Week after that is Cos & Effect where I'll be running a Masquerade Ball and participating as either a judge or commentator for the Final Fantasy Fight Tournament (plus a couple other surprises for that). Finally, Labour Day weekend, PAX. I don't need to remind how FUCKING BRILLIANT that ought to be.

Cosplay-wise! Probably gonna do some Persona 4 cosplay at PAX, so I need to get my ass ready for that. The other kids have already started workshop mode at my place. Should be good.

Game-wise! Finished Mass Effect 3, started Skyrim. I'm excited.

Anyway, time for work. I'll catch you guys in a bit! I'm sure I'll have some stories in the time ahead to tell.

Imma just leave this here . . .
