Ditto to Mercury. Although age has nothing to do with it. As you pointed out, children can create such beautiful masterpieces. I sometimes think that all children's art is the most wonderful, gorgeous, pieces that anyone can create because it's pure emotion. Like even in fingerpaintings and stuff. You can see so much emotion because it's raw. Kids can do things us adults simply cannot because we're always clouded with THOUGHTS.

    Anyhoo...

I hope school gets better for you. *hugs* Just keep sticking it out! You can do it!

That fair sounds awesome. I haven't been to one in a billion years. I wouldn't go on any rides. I'm scared to death. XD Aw, that's great you went with your art teacher. She sounds awesome!

Don't be freaking jealous, girl!!!! >E I swear I'll bite your head off for that! Come on. COME ON. You are such an amazing artist. Your works blow anything I could ever do out of the water. I can't draw like you. Just like you can't draw like that einlee person, but it does NOT matter. We all have our own styles, and yours is perfect. I think you can really give off emotion...I know I'm stunned whenever I see your works. I'm also a bit jealous. I'm always jealous about other wallers, too, lol, but I know that those feelings won't get me anywhere. You have sooooo many people that LOVE your art, and you should really appreciate it, too! I agree that artist is stunning, but really, you can do that, too. I'd say your artwork's just as good; you just don't color as much as they do. That is ALL. So don't give up or get down on yourself like this. :( Try to get some confidence in ya! *hugs*

I hope you feel better soon. Take care~

Thanks, everyone... I'll still continue to drawing and still try to improve because I enjoy art and want to improve so that the messages/subjects in my drawings can become clearer.

It seems like whenever I go down, I go down hard. OTL My negative train of thought is hard to derail at first, but writing this down really helped me feel better.
I'll try to keep that thought in mind, that I'm jealous now but that I have the ability to be as good as whoever I'm jealous of! With practice. And I'm only 16, why am I rushing?

So, thanks again. I love you guys.

Being a good artist is 20% talent and 150% hard work and practice! just becaus some 11 year-old has good talent doesn't mean she has a head-start, in fact it might set her back... She might find art so "easy" for her, that she nevers pushes herself to get better. Like everyone else said, you need to push yourself to want to achieve that "ability" others have.

My mom's an artist, so she has some of her paintings hanging around the house and instead of saying to mayself, "I'll never be as good as her!", I tell myself "One day, I'm gonna be as good, maybe even better than her!" Don't let someone, or yourself, make you feel inferior.

We've all seen your talent, we know you have that ability, you just have to believe in yourself! I know, it totally sounds corny but...

You just gotta practice, man. I know that's what everyone says, but it's totally true. Just keep drawing. Think Rock Lee. Perservere!

Also, all that stuff those other people down there said. 100% fo' rizzle.

I drew like shit when I was 11, and god help me even now if I try to pick up paint. XD Some little buggers are just born talented, I guess. Anyway, I still think you're awesome. And I think you can be even awesomer still, so don't ever give up, okay? :]

Cheer up, little rainbow. Turn that frown upside down. :D

I agree with the other two comments. Draw for yourself. I understand that you've set a really high goal for yourself, and that you think it's unattainable. I do that too.

The only thing that's really holding you back, is you. Maybe you're sub-consciously not trying, because you secretly think it's pointless. Stop that. Don't look at einlee's work and think "I suck, I can never be that good", you should be thinking "Wow, I'll draw that well someday. I can do that."

And you can! I've seen your work, you definitely have the skill. You just need to stop being so hard on yourself :)

I know exactly what you're feeling, because I feel it to. Its just the narcissism that comes with being an artist. You want everyone to love what you do, that's one of the greatest feelings of creating something, but getting there is so hard.

First you must realize, you must take control. Tell yourself enough of the pity and anger. Take control. I'm learning to do it too, and its so hard but you have to do it.

So what if you don't know enough about traditional media, then go LEARN! The entire internet is at your disposal and their are TONS of famous artists who have lessons on the net! Embrace all of the resources you have. My art teacher and I, we are always learning together. they don't have a degree for nothing, they know something. Its cruel to say this, but use them. Use them in every which way you can. You are responsible for your future so take control of it. You have the talent, you just need the hard work now.

Second. Do it for yourself. Yes you want all of the attention but you must first embrace yourself and the want to improve for yourself. Build a confidence in your skills. It only comes through hard work and percervearance. Yes, you will mess up but you will learn.

I really hope this all helps. ~<3

Y'know, I think the best way to go about this is to say:

Don't worry about what others think of your art. Art is something you GROW at, it is a PERSONAL endeavor where you watch YOURSELF blossom. You don't watch others.
When someone likes your art, that's a wonderful compliment! Take it! Run with it! Giggle giddily! It's the extra gravy on your mountain of mashed potatoes!
And, if you like someone else's art, that's wonderful too! Envy can be a GOOD thing as long as you use it properly. If you're envious of another artist, use that to drive you to do better.
Then, DO BETTER. GROW! The thing about art, is you NEVER get worse. With each new picture, doodle, or sketch you draw, you grow a tiny tiny bit. And, over time, that really adds up.

So, don't draw something and expect everyone to be in awe over it. You're only going to disappoint yourself. Instead, draw because you want to. Draw like you eat. You don't eat because you want people to look at you and be ecstatic, right? You eat to be strong and healthy!
Eating helps you grow physically, drawing will help your skills grow too. Little bit, by little bit... draw every day, even if it's just a little doodle on the side of your math homework! XD

And, trust me, in no time you'll be drawing beautiful pictures (like einlee) and everyone else will be envious of YOU. ^_^

Happy drawing! I believe in you and I love your art~! I know you'll do wonderful one day soon! ^_^v
