Hey All, my real name is Dave, and I originally joined theO as a wallpaper maker, but now I've been more focused on fan art and improving my work. I've been a member for about 10 years now, including various name changes lol.

As for my anime tastes, I'm a huge fan of sci-fi, action/shounen, and mecha. My first ever complete manga series was Love Hina, which I still rank as my favorite, and its also what pushed me to draw more. Akamatsu-sensei's Negima is also highly ranked on my list and also acts as a source of inspiration (although I prefer his style from Volumes 13 & 14 of Love Hina a little more lol).

Currently, I'm reading Bleach and UQ Holder!. I haven't been following much anime that's been airing lately since most of it is seemingly loli fanservice-type shows. I try and follow any Gundam series that I can, and I was actually impressed with the Build Fighters series; it focuses more on camaraderies and rivalries that are surprisingly well written. It's pretty childish, but I get a kick out of all the easter eggs hidden within it. I also own a variety of Miyazaki's movies due to their charm and underlying messages about our world and the environment.

I also game a little bit when I'm not drawing or at work/school; I mainly play RPGs and fighters, but I have dabbled into 3rd person shooters (Vanquish, Crysis series), some action adventure games, and racing (Gran Turismo 5). I also enjoy RTSs, but I pretty much only play Starcraft II on and off.

As for school/employment, I am currently employed with the electronics retailer The Source up in Canada, and I'm attending college to become a Medical Lab Technician. I'll be done around October 2015, then I can work in any diagnostic lab/hospital to help diagnose diseases!

Cheers,

Inphinity

Technical Problems

Hey all, sorry for the double no submission, last weekend was just a little bit of a busy weekend, and this weekend I went home for Easter to get home cooked food, and a NEW COMPUTER! The new comp is also why I have not sub this week, since Windows 7 apparently can't run my tablet and accompanying software properly. I have a couple days off before exams, so I'll try and trouble shoot as best I can. Anyway, for a summary of the comp's stats:

Dell Studio XPS
Core-i5 Quad Core Processor
320GB HDD, 4GB RAM
Ati HD 4670 1GB GPU, Blu-ray Combo Optical Drive
Extended 9-cell battery (wasn't aware I had this until I opened the box, lol)
Upgraded Sound Card with internal Sub-woofer

Thanks to Blu-ray, I'll be able to take some screen from Advent Children: Complete and Appleseed: Ex Machina when I have the time to make some wallies, and then with the Gundam 00 Movie if and when it comes out in Canada. Anyway, hopefully I'll get the tablet up and running in the next few days so I can do some more digital stuff. Anyway, enjoy the rest of your weekend!

UPDATE:

Managed to fix all of my software and hardware problems. I have most of the next couple of days off, so hopefully I'll got something posted in the near future.

Olympic Gold Madness and Lack of Colour

Well, I know I said I'd have my lineart coloured this week, but three midterms in a week, and studying for another on Monday kinda chews up my time, so you'll have to the deal with the hand drawn work I made for this week's submission. That and the Men's Hockey Gold metal game kinda happened today, and we hosted it here, so that chewed up my afternoon. Just for the record, Crosby scored the game winner in over-time; man that was close, lol.

Oh, and I decided to start a new series this week, called Kobato. Its another anime CLAMP decided to do designs for, and I'm surprised to find I haven't found a Cardcaptors clone yet, lol. The amin character, Kobato, kinda resembles Sakura, but not that much. Anyway, I've only seen 2 episodes, and the plot is very vague at this point; Kobato somehow is "sent" to Earth, along with a talking stuffed animal named Iorogi who orders her around. Kobato's goal is to "go somewhere", and to do that she has to fill this bottle she earned with "scarred hearts"; basically, she helps someone who has an unspoken issue, and this "candy" that's suppost to represent a heart pops up in said bottle. Weird, I know, but it'll probably develop to something more understandable (I hope). What really got me hooked on this was actually Iorogi, a stuffed animal in the form of a blue beagle, who pretty much acts like its possessed by a demon, AND can breathe fire.

Anyway, I'll be back next week, hopefully with a that coloured lineart, lol.

Outta the Frying Pan and into The Fire

Well, I know I've been gone for awhile, but assignmnets/midterms/reading week happened, but now I'm back! And figures, I get promoted in my absence *sigh*

I had a little time today, so I figured I'd do an update, and submit some work, albeit not that much since travel time and lab reports really chew up one's time. Midterms are almost over now, with the last one being March 5th, and then study time will be over til April, lol. Reading week was nice since I got a chance to do work I would be doing this week, but alas studying now takes up 80% of a day.

Anyway, I noticed Star Ocean: The Last Hope released an international version alittle while ago, but little did I know it actally came to America! So I went and purchased it on my last day at home and put 6.5 hours into it. My only complaint about the game is slightly annoying voice acting for some characters *glares at Lymle*, but besides that its pretty solid. It also happens to be my first RPG for my brother's PS3, lol, which will be followed shortly by Final Fantasy XIII.

The way back to Waterloo was interesting because a freigh train in front of my train decided to derail; if the conductor had called my conductor 10 seconds later, I would have also been part of the derailment, which woulda hurt. Anyway, they got soe cranes in to remove the one car that was in our way, and had to bus it back from Union Station in Toronto. Luckily I ran into an old high school friend on the bus, so the bus ride was rendered much less painful.

Spent the afternoon messing around with layers settings in Painter Essentials, so go check out the portfolio for a new colour work, and possibly another by the night's end.

Weirdest Power in an ANime/Manga I've Ever Seen

So, today I watched what is possibly the oddest anime episode I have ever seen in my life. Whilst looking up random curiosity, and anime blog that's good for covering the majority of series premiers every season, I noticed one series in particular that might be interesting. This is because one of the main characters of this series, titled Seikon no Qwaser, bears a striking resemblence to D.Gary-Man's Allen Walker. That's because Alexander has silver hair and a big red scar over his left eye, but is an alchemist who likes to transmute bad-ass scythes as shown below:

Anyway, back to the original topic. This guy pops in near the end of the first episode, saves the girl in distress (who was strangely enough being molested by some creep in a cloak-ish thing), but runs outta energy after blocking one attack. The kid is saved by yet another girl. To recharge the kid's depleted "soma" (I guess this series' version of mana or MP), said girl goes borderline hentai undoing her top, places the kid's head on her chest, and recharges his bateries with...*drumroll*... Breast milk!? HUH!? WHAT!? Run that by me again? Although not really shown due to sensorship, if one takes a look at the manga (which I didn't cuz I was already weirded out enough as it was) as talked about on random curiosity, it shows, leaving nothing to the imagination apparently, the kid drawing undertaking said act. I guess I can't go any farther than that due to this site's sensorship policies and the fact that you're all probably just as weirded out as I am by this point. Anyway, if your at all curious, Random Curiosity covers the first episode. Apparently this was a sensored version, and the "uncensored" version of the episode airs at the end of the month. Random Curisosity also shows the uncensored promo video, which was kinda more than I could handle due to no-holding-back-graphicness.

I don't think I'm gonna continue this series (even after just the 1st episode, lol) just because of the sheer weirdness of the whole soma thing, and right from the get-go there are hints of yuri between the two female leads; always holding hands, one calling the other her "knight in shining armour", etc. Also, every minute of this show was fanservice, even during action scenes due to how Alexander replenishes his strength. They also focus ALOT on the Toho, one of the female leads, due to her abnormally large cup size, and animate accordingly using anime gravity. Anyway, I was so blown away by this that I just had to vent about it somewhere; I though Elfen Lied was odd, but Seikon no Qwaser stole that throne within 5 minutes of viewing. Anyway, hope that didn't ruin anyone's day, lol.

Post Holiday Update

Hey Everyone! Hope everybody had a great holiday break, I know I did; complete with all the food I could ever imagine, visiting family & friends, and getting a tablet Anyway, now I'm back in school for four months, so my visits will be less frequent, but I'll try and keep up my weekly Sunday submission. I will probably be doing more digial submissions too thanks to the tablet, but I'll still keep up the pencil and paper since it is my bread & butter. Anyway, I said I'd submit a colour work today, but I'm slow at it since I'm learning new ways to use layers, lol. However, there is a sneak peak (unfinished) below:

Well, I'm out for now. See you around!
