Dolly

Hello again! First off, I'd like to take a moment to mention a recent weather anomoly that has affected me recently. Anyone hear of Hurricane Dolly? Yes, I live in Texas, just a stone's throw away from the border of Mexico. Not that I go there all the time, but I digress. It hit us on the 23rd of July, suffice it to say, it rained. A lot. We didn't sustain any damage, except that almost our entire fence, made of wood, fell down. It was interesting, watching them fall down, one by one like that. There was so much water, we couldn't leave our house for days! And the power was out for five days. Went out July 23 (Wednesday) and came back on July 27 (Sunday). I shudder at the thought of the mosquitoes we're gonna get. If it wasn't for my mom, it would've taken longer for my neighborhood to get its power back. True story! When she finally got ahold of the electric company, they had no idea that our area was still out! It was difficult sleeping without the AC. It was heaven when things finally went back to normal. I for one was able to get in a satisfactory shower and was finally able to wash my clothes which had been piling up. We had to throw out almost everything in our fridge. And our neighbors were so nice to us! Two of them that lived nearby had barbecue pits, and they cooked food for us! I have never appreciated just how much we rely on our electric comforts. I'm aware of how dependant I am on them, but it's not until we experience things like that I realize just how crippled we would be without them. Mankind is headed for something dreadful, I bet.

That's about it for my Hurricane story. I was going to call it a rant, but it seems more like a report than a rant. Maybe next time, for those of you who were hoping for a rant. Now, did I mention I wrote poetry? I know, I know, everyone writes poetry... Mine aren't exactly anything to brag about, I mean, they're mostly depressing to be honest. But in these last few years, I've written quite a few. Is it obvious to those of you who read whatever I write (be it a comment, details on a submission, or these fanwords), that I'm a competent writer? English was always my best subject, my favorite. It was also the easiest for me, but for some reason, I hate doing essays. Don't know what to make of that one. Anyway, if you guys are curious about my poetry, let me know in the comment box, and I'll find and post something. I don't have anime-based poetry, just personal stuff. Maybe you'll like it, I don't know. But all I can do is try, am I right?

I wonder what L is doing in this picture? Whatever, he's cute anyway! ^_^ ~TS
