Let's get this snow on the road!

Prologue (+Main Chat Link!)

“Ghk —!”

I was jerked awake as my head slammed into the seat in front of me. I'd been hunched over, using that seat as a head rest while I napped, but apparently a certain pothole had had other plans for me.

How long had we been on this bus now? I glanced out of the corner of my eye to see that it was at least daytime now. We'd left the city so early in the morning that it was still pitch black out when we hit the road. Getting together a group of seventeen teenagers at that time of morning probably wasn't the best idea, as no one said a word to one another as we sleepily boarded the bus. Now, however, I could hear a low mumble from the other students —my new classmates— attempting to make small talk with one another.

In honor of being the first class to enter Prospect's Summit, we'd been given a seven-day, all-expense paid trip to some ski resort in the mountains. Instead of going through orientation at the school itself, we'd be doing all of our bonding and preparations this week.

I leaned back against my seat, still feeling pretty groggy. I turned to the person I had been sitting next to —an oddly dressed girl with a very cute face— and she smiled at me.

I opened my mouth to chat with her, but no sound came.

— Huh?

Suddenly, my vision started growing fuzzy, and the sounds around me distorted so that everything sounded very far away. A faint ringing in my ears was growing louder by the second, and I began to grow dizzy.

The girl's mouth seemed to be moving, but everything was so hazy, I couldn't hear her or read her lips. What’s going on...?

That was the last thought I had before our Ski Trip of Mutual Killing began.

--

When I awoke again, I realized that I was no longer on the bus. I was tucked into a nice bed, with a soft blanket covered in little penguins.

It took me a moment before I sat up and looked around. A hotel room? How did I get here?

Oh, that's right. I must've passed out on the bus! That would explain the weird spell I'd had. We must have reached the resort shortly after that, and someone carried my unconscious body to my room. Some of the guys on that bus had looked pretty huge—they would have been strong enough to carry me, probably.

But... why had I passed out? I made sure to eat breakfast this morning, so it couldn't have been hunger… Or maybe it was just the change in altitude...?

I shook my head, letting the thought pass. Didn't matter. I was awake now, so I should go catch up with my class before I missed something important, like talking to that cute girl from the bus.

I tossed the penguin blanket off my body and got out of the bed. I examined my room: A bed, nightstand, lamp, dresser, mirror, fireplace, and a door which I assumed led to a bathroom. Basic, but functional. The room was pretty spacious, which was nice. If the rest of the resort ended up sucking, at least the lodging was nice.

I pulled my phone from the phone holder on my belt to check the time. It was almost noon! I opened up a new text message to send to my parents, telling them that we'd arrived safely, but noticed that I had no service. Tch! I knew this trip would be in the middle of nowhere, but no cell service? Really? I put the phone back in its holder in order to take it with me; somewhere in this lodge had to have service, right?

Quickly, I glanced at the mirror, attempting to fix my bed head. It was… presentable, but I couldn’t get rid of this pesky cowlick on the side. Oh, well. Maybe some of the girls would find it charming.

Exiting the room, I wandered down the hall until it finally opened up into a cozy lounge area. There, I found my classmates, all with a trace of confusion across their faces...

RULES

CHAT RULES/GUIDELINES

These mostly apply to out-of-character stuff. Feel free to go craycray in-character. Except not totally craycray. Don't be like that one kid who threatened to blow everyone up.

1. Be polite to each other. Someone's character might act like a complete asshole, but there's a real person behind that muse! Don't take things super personally, but if you have a concern, talk to the person about backing off.

2. No fighting! This stems from the first rule, but basically, keep your personal drama out of both IC and OOC chats, unless it's something you need mediated.

3) No NSFW! Considering the nature of this RP, violence (/talk of violence) is to be expected, but keep your sexytiems out of it. I feel like I shouldn’t have to make this rule, but YOU NEVER KNOW. Also, keep language to a PG-13 level, preferably.

4) Keep OOC to a minimum in the main chat. Short comments here and there are fine, but the Skype chat has been created for a reason! If you decide to speak out-of-character in the chat, please designate it with brackets or parentheses, like [[ ]] or (( )).

5) Spoilers. If you happen to know spoilers about who possesses a certain role, such as Mastermind or Culprit, please keep it to yourself. Don't spoil the mystery for everyone else! Especially this early on.

6) Have fun! Don't take this roleplay TOO seriously. Feel free to crack jokes, be silly, be overdramatic, abuse capslock and keysmashes, etc. Sure, be serious when it's time to be serious, but outside of that, just have fun! In the end, it's all about having a good time and making memories with friends, right? Heck, my favorite chat-based RP memory is the time my male character gave birth to an egg named Steven and we had a Maury-style custody battle to try to figure out who was the father. The egg eventually became sentient, renamed itself Vladimir, and demanded its independence. In the end, the egg ended up being used in a stew and my character accidentally ate his own child. Seriously, be prepared for anything!

FUN FACT: Both Charat and Chatzy run in BBcode, the same script/coding style that theOtaku uses. So, if you ever wanna spice up what you’re writing with some italics, etc, use the same codes!

Charat Instructions

Today's the day! Today's the day!

And because today is the day, as promised, here are your instructions for the chat. (more specifically, how to use Charat)

Note: On the off chance that hell has frozen over (aka, Charat is down like it so famously often is) please go to the OOC Skype chat for further instructions. If you are not part of the chat, please add alysomethingorother on Skype in order to be added to it.

Throughout the course of this RP, we will be using several different chat rooms and chat clients in order to accommodate for size. Until the number of students remaining has dwindled to 9 or less, Charat will be the main place for things involving the entire group, such as the introduction chat, plot events, and trials. Chatzy will be used to conduct things with smaller groups, such as investigations and free time events.

Whereas Chatzy has very simple instructions for how to join chat rooms, Charat is a bit harder. If you're unfamiliar with Charat, it can be a bit overwhelming the first time you join a chat as far as selecting your character and such. These directions may seem a bit convoluted, but they should save you a lot of trouble for when you go to join the chat! I suggest doing this ahead of time so that you're not scrambling around right as you try to enter the chat tonight.

1. Go to the Charat home page.
2. Fill out your information like so. We'd appreciate you using the colors we've picked, as they're easily differentiable. The list is below the instructions.

3. Go to Saved Characters, towards the top of the page.

4.Click “be”
External Image
This should allow you to already be your character as soon as you enter the chat, so that you don't have to go through the hassle of changing from anonymous to your character. However, it only works sometimes, so in the case of you ending up entering as anonymous, this is what you should do:
5. Upon entering the chat, go to the little 3 line settings button in the top right corner and select your character from the drop down. Make sure to hit apply!

6. BONUS STEP: Please turn off your System Notifications because they are very annoying and pop up like every 2 seconds. It'll make the chat easier to read. This is for your benefit.
7. BONUS STEP 2: Underneath the bar where you type your actual chat stuff (does that have a name, idek), there's a box labeled "Status" with an exclamation point next to it. If you could put your SHSL talent there, that'd be lovely!

Reminder: If you are unable to attend the intro chat (actually even if you are able to attend, read this for the basic prompt), please send your character's introduction to either KeybladeMewKasa, harvestmoonluvr, or Monoguin. It should include name, talent (doesn't have to be explicitly stated), and... something else. Perhaps something about the trip? Something else that shows what your character is like? You decide!
