I dont know, the whole writing concept of remembering lead me to believe that everything that used to be there was lost and destroyed. Soaking in the image that she once saw not what she is seeing. But through the eyes of her past, remembering how she loved it.
I think that would have been better. When I read the ending to find the dog there, it kind of leads to a love attachment with her long lost animal friend. Because it is there first before Walt, ha ha ha. But that's just my opinion.
There are some run on sentences but over all the description and feel to your story is marvelous! I cant help but imagine what she is seeing and how the wind feels there. It's almost like a painting. Very nice!
