Let me set the scene, a young teenage girl awakens one Sunday morning after a fight with her supposed "best" friend. Needless to say she is not exactly perky as she heads out for church...
'Stupid jerk!', I think to myself as I cross the church parking lot. 'Sometimes I wonder what I see in him.' I sigh, exhausted from my conflicting thoughts. I take a deep breath to calm myself as I glance ahead of me. 'Oh heck no!' I glare at the tall gentleman that captured my attention. I close my eyes tightly, letting out a held breath. 'Nope, still there.' I sigh once more before composing myself for an unwanted confrontation. 'Wait!', a light bulb goes off in my head and I smile maniacally. I have a skip in my step as I stop a short distance away from my unexpected visitor. I smile at him faintly, preparing for my next plan of action. He grins back, unaware of the pain that is about to be inflicted upon him. I sprint across the asphalt, pressing hard against it to add more force to my strike. I stop abruptly in front of my target, hitching my foot back before unleashing an assault of fury. A loud "thwack" echoes through the lot as my victim quickly clutches his shin. 'Serves him right.', I think with a proud smirk. I laugh softly and head towards the church entrance.
Suddenly I feel a tug on my wrist, I whip around to discover my enemy looking down upon me with a vengeful glare. 'Crap.' I try to pull away, but he overpowers me easily. He chuckles, amused by my foolish attempts of escape.
"Resistance is futile.", he states calmly as he closes the distance between us.
"Getting revenge on a 16 year old girl, aren't you cool?", I spit through gritted teeth.
"Revenge? What good would that do me?", he says bemused by my simple-minded statement.
"Then what do you want?", I hiss, having lost my patience eons ago.
"You know, I'm not quite sure.", he says placidly. I stare at him confused and frustrated.
"Then let me go!", I grumble, violently kicking to and fro.
"No!", he almost barks, making my whole body freeze out of fear. "That's much better.", he says with a praising tone. I struggle to stay calm as I bite my tongue.
To my surprise, he lets go. 'Is this some kind of trick?' I stare up at him bewildered, but he just laughs. 'Who cares?!' I turn back and dash for the safe zone. He merely takes his time and follows suit. I pause to catch my breath before realizing I'm not alone.
"What now?", I pant, sitting upon a marble slab at the rear of the vestibule.
"Hm? Nothing.", he replies absentmindedly as if I had disrupted his train of thought. I watch him suspiciously, careful of his movements. He paces the vestibule, pausing every so often. I scoot backwards every time he passes, and each time he lets out a slight laugh. Slowly but surely, I loose interest, and lean against the brick wall.
This must have been what he was waiting for, he yanks me off the cold marble, spinning me as he wraps his arms around my waist.
"Didn't anyone ever tell you? Never let your guard down, not even for a second.", he whispers in my ear sending a shiver down my spine. He chuckles, nibbling on my ear playfully.
"No, stop.", I plead, wiggling uncomfortably against his firm grip. He ignores me and moves to my jaw, gently massaging it with his lips. "Don't, Jesus is watching.", I mumble, falling under his tempting spell.
"Let him watch.", he says gruffly as he makes his way down my neck. I hold back a moan and shift my hip rigidly, breaking his concentration. He lets out an exasperated sigh. "I thought this is what you wanted."
"When did I ever say that?" I blush embarrassed by how easily I almost gave in.
"I see.", he unravels his arms, freeing me, and strolls to the other side of the vestibule. He gazes out the stain glass windows, deep in thought.
I find myself feeling disappointed, only to shake the thought out of my mind furiously. I glance over, my eyes turning against me as I ogle his muscular build. 'I'm going to hate myself later but...' I quietly walk up behind him, embracing the small of his back.
"Brit?!", he calls startled. I respond by snuggling his back fiercely. He laughs lightly, ruffling my hair before breathing in my ear, "Odd little sprite." Once again my body shivers from head to toe. He unwraps my arms from around his waist and turns to face me. I look up at him blankly, unsure of his intentions. He pats me on the head and says, "We'll pick this up when you're older, alright?"
I frown, this is not what I had in mind. "No." I bury my face in his chest, unwilling to let go.
"Brit, we can't, I can't do this.", he pushes me away, holding me back with his strong arms.
"I hate you!", I yell as I burst into tears. He groans, apparently he had wanted to avoid this. I use his weakness against him. "How could you?!", I thrust my face into the palms of my hands, sobbing uncontrollably.
"Brit, you know we can't...", he places a hand on my shoulder.
"Don't touch me!", I state sharply, throwing his hand off with surprising force.
"I'm sorry.", he pulls me into him, cuddling me softly in his arms. Shocked, my tears stop. "Please, you have to be patient.", he whispers into my hair.
"I know but I-", he cuts me off with a kiss. At first I could not believe it was real, but when my soft supple lips returned the favor to his firm yet tender kiss; I knew this was what I had been waiting for all along. Afterwords he gave me a peck on the cheek and forehead before hugging my tightly as if this was the end.
"Farewell Brit, I'll be waiting for you.", and with that he takes his leave. I stare after him, a rush of emotions coursing through my body. I laugh quietly to myself, holding the recent memories close to my heart.
"Yeah, see you in a few years Adam.", I mumble, peering out into the bright and sunny day behind closed doors. I grin sheepishly as I head into the main room for mass, awaiting the exciting yet unpredictable future laid out before me.
