Saying Goodbye

This past Saturday, at 4am, I received a call saying that my Dad passed away.

Some of you may remember that a while back I said he had been in prison. It took so long for me to finally be able to share that with the community on TheO.

But now is time for me to say goodbye to my Dad. Much like I did when my Mom passed 8 years ago.

My Dad, Roger Jentink, was 57 years old. He worked at the same job for 35 years. Which in today's society, is rare. Because he worked a lot, and often had side jobs to help make ends meet, it kinda seemed like he wasn't around much. But it was for our family. My brother and I were born when he was 26 years old. I'm 30 now and I can't imagine what life would be like if I had kids.

Dad taught us how to play D&D, and also gave us love for Sci-Fi. So I guess you could say my Dad is the biggest reason I'm the dork I am today. And I wouldn't trade it for a second.

Our favorite activity with Dad was, and always will be, fishing. He took us on houseboat vacations to some of the best fishing destinations in the country. I now live close to those destinations in Tennessee. Dad was excited to learn when we bought 20 acres of property and he called from jail often to excitedly hear our progress as we get ready to build our new home.

I could go on seemingly forever about my Dad. Who he was, what he did, what WE did with him.

But I've got tons of things still left to take care of. I'll be around though. You'll still see me pop up from time to time.

So in memory of Roger L Jentink. 3/20/1957 - 9/13/2014

I love you, Dad. I'll miss you.
