Chapter 1

“I gotta tell her, I have to tell her, I’m gonna tell her…,” Drew thought repeatedly to himself for encouragement as he paced back and forth in front of the Pokemon Center. Glancing at his watch, he saw that the girl he was waiting for should be coming out soon. He then went to sit on a near-by bench, an attempt at calming his nerves, as well as to get out the deep trench he had dug by pacing for the last few hours. “Man-why can’t I seem cool in front of May.” Drew sighed heavily. “I probably look like a loser.” He quickly gave himself a mental slap in order to stop those thoughts. His thoughts then turned to the few other attempts he had made at telling May how he really felt about her. Once he tried giving a rose with a note sticking out of it, which ended up being eaten by her Munchlax, before she even got a chance to read it. Another try was to write her an actual love letter. However Drew didn’t know that May had recently gotten food poisoning. She ended up hurling all over the letter. “I guess the indirect approach wasn’t meant for me,” mumbled Drew as he laughed a little to himself.

Just then, Drew snapped back into reality when he saw May, as she was walking out with three of her closest friends: Misty, Dawn, and Zoey. The four ladies were deep into a conversation when Drew popped up. “Uh- May… can I talk to you for a minute,” he stuttered while blushing. May smiled at him, and replied,
“Sure.” Drew felt his heart racing, as well as his face turning redder and redder with all those eyes staring at him. It almost seemed suffocating in that area and he hadn’t intended on an audience present during his confession in the first place. He barely managed to get out the right words, “… in- private… please.” With that he grabbed her hand and began dragging May away in search of a better and more isolated location.

The three friends left behind smiled at each other and couldn’t stop themselves from laughing.
“So he’s finally gonna tell her,” squealed Dawn.
“Yeah, too bad for Drew that practically everyone in the entire universe knows that he’s in love with May,” joked Misty.

“That is of course except May herself,” finished Zoey. They began to laugh again, but it quickly died down this time.
“I wonder how he’ll react to the news,” stated Misty. The others nodded their heads.
“Come on guys, we gotta go meet Ash and the other guys for our group date,” said Zoey. They quickly hurried off.

Meanwhile Drew was still dragging May, but when the coast seemed clear in the park, he stopped and turned to face her. He cleared his throat, took a long deep breath and began to state his confession.
“May-I-I’m in…” But he was cut short because of May’s hand over his mouth.
“I have some big news to tell you first.” Drew nodded his head to allow her to continue. She dropped her hand from his mouth and began.
“Me and Harley are officially dating, she said with a little squeal. A shot of pain ran throughout Drew’s entire body as he heard these words. “So what’s your news Drew?” He looked at her and felt sick.
“It’s nothing for you to worry about anymore,” he quickly muttered.

“Uh- okay, but Drew you should head home. You look a little green in the face… Uh-oh. I have to go now. Bye-bye.”
Drew slowly waved her off as she disappeared. He then made a mad dash toward the nearest park drinking fountain, and began to throw up into it. A few minutes later, he finished and let the last of the vomit run down the drain. As the water settled, he wiped his mouth on his sleeve. Once the water was calm, he looked into it. It revealed big tears rolling down his cheeks. Drew lashed at the image, and began sprinting towards his apartment. He refused to let anyone see him cry.
