Princess and the Mochi [Part 1]

((So. I'm just gonna go ahead and post this out in parts. I can tell Chero's getting tired of waiting xD
SO. Here's a part one. yaaaay
Introductiooooon here ))

The ring of an alarm went off and echoed throughout the apartment. A college student groaned as she smashed the snooze button to sleep for longer. “Five more minutes…” she muttered to herself. It wasn’t until she noticed how bright the room was that she realized the time. Bolting up from under her covers, she stareed at her clock. “7:30 already? I’m gonna be late for class!” The brunette scrambled around her room to get dressed and ready quickly. She almost forgot her glasses but grabbed them quickly before she left since she needed to see.

Rushing out into the street, the brunette got lucky and was able to catch the bus just in time. She let out a sigh of relief. The bus would get her to where she needed to be on time, but she would still need to hurry.

Jenny attended one of the finest art schools in Europe. She studied hard to get in and finally made it. She was also glad that her closest friend was able to move to Europe along with her. Her family was well off enough to be able to afford it. Jenny on the other hand had to apply for several scholarships. But she still made it. And that’s all that mattered to her, because she was able to pursue her dream still.

She still needed money to provide herself with living expenses and food, of course. Her friend always offered to help her, but she refused, saying she would get nowhere if she relied on the money and help of her friends all time.

After class ended, Jenny suited herself up to get ready to work at a Starbucks that was just off the campus. It wasn’t much of a job, but it paid for her apartment and food.

“Jenny!” A long curly haired brunette bounced into the café excitedly.

“Chero!” Jenny smiled. She hadn’t seen her friend in a few days. But she was busy with classes and work, so it was excusable. “What are you so jumpy about right now?”

Chero was holding a folded up newspaper in her hand as she hurried to the counter. Jenny was just glad that there wasn’t any business for the moment. The older brunette spread out the paper to show the main article. “A prince is coming to visit your school! Isn’t that great, Jenny? Oh, I’ve always wanted to meet a prince!” She continued to bounce, almost screaming towards the end, but thankfully it only came out as an overexcited squeal. There were still other customers in the building enjoying coffee they ordered before the outburst.

“Oh? How exciting, Chero.” Jenny smiled, reading over the article.

“I know! We should invite him over to one of our places tonight and have a party.” Chero suggested, grinning.

“I can’t.” Jenny said, leaning on the counter, using her elbows as support. “I have to study tonight. I’ve got a big test in two days that determine whether I’ll pass or fail.”

Chero frowned at this news and started to whine. “What! But, it’s gonna be a party! With a prince! And I’ll have it at my place so your place doesn’t get all messy!”

“Your place is better for a party anyways since you live in a penthouse.” Jenny replied, laughing. She slid the paper back over to her friend. “Look, I’ll show up for a bit to give you support, alright? But then I seriously do have to study tonight.”

The younger brunette’s friend was just happy knowing that she’d show, even if it were for a little while. “Alright. 8 o’clock tonight. Don’t be late!”

Chero skipped out, tripping on herself first. She picked herself up quickly, though, and hurried out, pretending like nothing happened.

As Chero left, an older man with stubble on his chin and his hair a bit messy walked into the café. He ordered a simple coffee, stating he was in too much of a rush to go fancy that morning.

“Having a good morning, Mr. Vargas?” Jenny asked, making his order.

“Ah, si, I am~” He beamed, speaking in a thick Italian accent. “I assume you are ready for your test that is very soon, si?”

“Of course, sir!” She grinned back, placing the finished coffee onto the counter. “I’ve been studying really hard for it lately.”

“Buono, buono!” He praised, paying for his coffee. “You have been my best student all year. I have high hopes for you, Signorina Jenny. Have a good day, now!” He smiled and waved with his free hand while he walked out of the café.

Jenny sighed once her teacher was gone. She may have been best in the class but that still didn’t mean she was a master at her pursued dream yet. She refused to give up, though. She was determined to pass her exam with flying colors.
