Cartoon Vault: Oggy and the Cockroaches

I was asked about this show a long time ago and now it's time for it to enter the vault; presenting Oggy and the Cockroaches.

Oggy and the Cockroaches is a French cartoon from as early as 1998 and is still going in it's native France; it follows the exploits of Oggy who's daily life of laziness is disrupted as he becomes the target of sadistic cockroaches named Joey, Marky & Dee Dee who are named after members of the Punk Group the Ramones; it very much follows the Tom & Jerry formula to perfection even keeping the low dialogue and turns up the notch on the dial a bit to throw up more than just your standard anvils. It's strange that a show can copy such a famous formula and still keep going in it's native country coming close to 300 episodes of time of writing, especially when most shows from the 90s have died out with the only other shows still going being much older.
This is a pretty short entry all round as there is not much to cover with such a basic formula but this next bit may interest you.
Last year there was an Oggy and the Cockroaches Movie released in France which will be released in the States during the summer this year.
In this day and age it's rare to see a classic still going with such figures but this is why Tom & Jerry are still popular, basic ideas just work.
