Hi I'm Dranzerstorm
You may remember me as a regular contestant on the caption battle contest.
Welcome to Retro Retrospective, my world dedicated to the old guard of the Otaku world; expect some reviews of the old & obscure, and in-depth geeky knowledge with the occasional top ten and I now have a logo.

Little info about me
Well I'm British and I'm in to all things animated and nostalgia.
I've grown up with every cartoon going and have watched hundreds of anime.
Oh and to answer a question I was asked once, no I don't wear glasses in real life, I would wear Loke's sunglasses though.

Top 25 Worst Male Anime Characters

From females to males, it took a while to narrow down but were finally ready to go.
Update: Shinji Ikari is forgiven. I'll tell you why later. Replaced by Cilan from Pokemon.

25. Cilan from Pokemon
His character makes no sense, you cannot use wine terminology to describe Pokemon nor make a career out of it. It's so monumentally stupid.

24. Minoru Mineta from My Hero Academia
I'm just going to say it straight, he looks like a walking toilet, remind me why this show is the talk of the anime world again?

23. Admiral Nelson Royale from One Piece
*shudders* God he's so unpleasant to look at, One Piece I normally praise for art, not here.

22. Zeno from Dragonball Super
Only Toriyama can make the most powerful being in the universe an annoying spoilt child.

21. Minato Sahashi from Sekirei
A harem protagonist who really needs a reality check on the situation, he just annoys me.

20. Sosuke Aizen from Bleach
He is someone who is likely still trolling long after being dead and buried, just no.

19. Chang Wufei from Gundam Wing
Pretty much the 90s equivalent of an edgy 90s twitter misogynist.

18. Happosai from Ranma 1/2
I never found his perverted shenanigans to be enjoyable, could've easily not been in Ranma and no one would miss him.

17. Oberon the Fairy King from Sword Art Online
Imprisoned thousands against their will and tried to force Asuna to be his Queen. Another one who got a satisfying beatdown, but it's because of this guy Kirito has been excused from this list.

16. Shinji Matou from Fate Series
Weak pathetic individual who thinks it's acceptable to abuse women. Got a very satisfying punishment.

15. Sakura Kusakabe from Clubbed to Death Dokuro-Chan
Made an eternal youth potion for women, all well and good except it keeps them at 12 years old, now it's creepy.

14. Saito Hiraga from Familiar of Zero
He's dumb enough to fall for Louise even after all the abuse he's taken from her, it showcases how utterly stupid harem protagonists can be.

13. Wolfram Von Bielefeld from Kyo Kara Maoh
He's the male equal to Louise from Familiar of Zero who is already a worst female character.

12. Shou Tucker from Full Metal Alchemist
A little too easy to put this one down, yes he's the worst human alive but he was written as such and served that purpose, nothing about him was written poorly. But yeah he's still deplorable for doing it

11. Garou from One Punch Man
I hate him. A needlessly complex villain that has already been defeated by Saitama, any build up to him being a proper villain has lost it's weight.

10. Negi Springfield from UQHolder
After what I found out, he's now on this list I'll spare his Negima persona but not his UQHolder one, his decisions ultimately undo everything he accomplished in Negima

9. Mokuba Kaiba from Yu-Gi-Oh
His role in the franchise was to be scrappy doo and to give Kaiba motivation he didn't really need. He can't even play a children's card game.

8. Seiji Noumi from Accel World
A bully who's sole purpose is to be obnoxious to the point of being punchable, yet he's not even threatening, anyone a foot taller could easily smash his face in.

7. Kamille Bidan from Gundam Zeta
All he had to do was not lose his temper and we could've had Char as a lead character, no were stuck with Mr Self Righteous emo kid who deserves all the slaps from Bright Noa and pretty much the rest of the cast.

6. Pain from Naruto
Thinking about, I can forgive Sasuke, yeah he's a piece of emo Shonen trash but Pain then brought it up to ten. Oh boy, Pain is a lost cause and one of Naruto's lowest points; I really don't miss the Edgelord trend and it was the tip of the iceberg not only having a character named Pain, have his motif as Pain but be painful to listen to. As for Sasuke consider yourself lucky that you grew up in Boruto.

5. Makoto Itou from School Days
The whole point of Makoto was to not let dating sims be reality because all you do is play with people's hearts and trample them when it doesn't satisfy you and Makoto was the perfect person to portray that but it did more damage to the harem genre than his contemporaries ever did.

4. Ramunes IV from Knights of Ramunes OVA
An ego maniac who abuses women on a regular basis, what's worst is that he's meant to be a hero, not to mention there's no explanation in why he became such a deplorable human being to begin with.

3. Chris Thorndyke from Sonic X
When we finally have a proper Sonic anime and you come along and ruined it by just existing, comes to something when every other cartoon and even the ova is better than what this series produced.

2. Alois Trancy from Black Butler
This ass hole ruined Black Butler, nothing more than a fanfiction writers miserable attempt at Ciel Phantomhive. He's an abusive, emotional black mailing little piss stain that didn't deserve to exist.

1. Koran Mori from Flame of Recca
Let's list all his terrible traits.
Kills people for giggles no matter what side.
Boring greedy corrupt business man.
Most hideous anime design in history.
He has no impact on the story until the end and even then the real final boss is arguably the one in control.
More than likely a rapist.
In an anime reliant on action he can't do squat.
Worst of all, he's the least interesting character from the series and is so forgettable that you'd forget he exists and he's meant to be the main villain, so he's not only the worst male character but easily the worst villain in anime.

Top 10 Best Villains in an Anime

And as if by magic, here is the good list. Same rules, this applies to all villains in a given anime not just one individual.

Honorable Mentions
Rurouni Kenshin: Never seems to have bad villains but mostly forgettable.
Zoids Chaotic Century: One of my best memories of the show but I sadly forget what it was like being so long ago.
Strike Witches: They have the terrifying part down but nothing else.

10. One Piece
Shonen Jump villains didn't do well in these lists but One Piece saves them from being total outcasts; One Piece is one of only two anime to be able to successfully get away with goofy villains, the other being Ultimate Muscle.

9. Air Gear
The nature of Air Gear allows for some creative battles and villains, many of which maintain an air of mystery every time and don't leave you disappointed by the end result.

8. Pretty Cure
Never let the cutesy, goofy villains of Precure fool you, by the time you get to the finale of every season expect the stakes to be high and the fights to be intense, even the movies manage to pull this off. All this from a Magical Girl show but it's not the only one on this list.

7. Card Captor Sakura
You could argue that the cards aren't really villains but the trouble they cause are enough to be labeled as such, even when the ringmaster is revealed, the quality of the villains doesn't drop.

6. Sailor Moon
The major reason Sailor Moon holds up so well is that it has some bloody good villains. Many of my generation got chills from the Dr Tomoe arc, while many feel sorry for Beryl's main henchman as they die one after the other. And as ground breaking as Madoka Magica is, it doesn't have a patch on Sailor Moon.

5. Slayers & Lost Universe
Lina Inverse & Kain Blueriver can easily be billed as invincible but the villains in both shows can easily reduce both to their knees and very nearly destroy the world. That's a sign of good villains right there when an invincible hero is made to look weak.

4. Soul Eater
This anime really knew what it was doing with it's villains, psychologically terrifying both visually and mentally which compliments the art style very well.

3. Every Gundam Series except G Gundam
Gundam villains have always done a good job in making the heroes really scared of death and no hero has ever successfully claimed a convincing victory against them without losing important people along the way or even the hero themselves managing to stay in one piece mentally.

2. Neon Genesis Evangelion
Speaking of mentally crippling, every angel in Evangelion seems to cause extreme psychological trauma for the heroes in almost every fight. It's proof of how well the series holds up even after 20 years since the original.

1. Full Metal Alchemist
But if you want a good set of villains, come to Full Metal Alchemist. I'm of course referring to the Homunculus, the most ruthless villains to ever grace an anime, they are everything villains need to be: Terrifying, capable of worrying the good guys, defeated in an awesome way and just be a bad ass. Even more amazing is that they pull this off twice.

Top 10 Handicapped Anime Characters

Anime likes to make people feel good about themselves, even those who are handicapped, so here are the top ten Handicapped Anime Characters. Rules this time is that the person on the list needs to be capable of doing awesome things despite the handicap, I do not include illness seeing as most characters with this don't see it as a handicap so Whitebeard from One Piece is disqualified as is Nagato from Naruto seeing as his extra bodies did all the fighting and not him personally. So lets begin.

10. Date Masamune from Sengoku Basara
Missing an eye never seems much of a handicap but in Sengoku times it was enough to be dismissed from active duty, not for Masamune however. In Sengoku Basara he proves himself to be the strongest character in the series, even his real life counterpart survived the Sengoku period and gained much respect from other warlords.

9. Guts from Berserk
In such a brutal series it comes as no surprise that protagonist Guts would end up losing an arm and an eye, something which later proves to have been a better choice as he hides a cannon in his new arm & magnetic grip for holding the sword better.

8. Shanks from One Piece
He lost his arm right at the beginning of the series but still has the power to stop most people in their tracks, the worst damage he's had was the three scars to his face, what makes it better is that he lost his better arm being left handed and is still capable of so much.

7. Gildarts from Fairy Tail
I get the feeling that him and Shanks are long lost brothers, but Gildarts goes the extra mile having lost an arm & a leg and a few internal organs but is still rated the strongest in Fairy Tail. Small nod to Erza for an artificial eye.

6. Andrew Waldfeld from Gundam Seed
Andrew lost an arm, a leg and an eye but is still capable of defeating able bodied pilots and newtypes, I mean coordinators. Made even more impressive when you think that he's a minor character that survived a Gundam series.

5. Edward Elric from Full Metal Alchemist
One of the most famous but surprisingly not number one. Missing an arm & a leg and fitted with Automail to make up for it, Edward Elric remains one of the greatest anime characters in history. He's still short.

4. Shishio Makoto from Rurouni Kenshin
A failed assassination attempt left him without sweat glands meaning a prolonged fight would burn his body to cinders but he manages to defeat most of the strongest members of Kenshin's team before his time runs out.

3. Judau Ashta & ZZ Gundam from ZZ Gundam
This is something that needs to be seen to believed. Judau Ashta is 80 years old and still alive, making him the longest living Gundam pilot in history but even more impressive is that he's still piloting ZZ Gundam that has rusted outdated technology and a peg leg but can still take out Mobile Suits like a pro.

2. Sora Takeuchi from Air Gear
The former leader of Sleeping Forest ended up wheelchair bound after having his legs broken but is still a capable storm rider and looks even more impressive when he performs in his wheelchair.

1. Lord Genome from Gurren Lagann
All that's left of him after part one was his head and yet it was his spiral energy that kicked off the final battle against the anti-spirals, let that sink in a moment. Just his head!
