Hi I'm Dranzerstorm
You may remember me as a regular contestant on the caption battle contest.
Welcome to Retro Retrospective, my world dedicated to the old guard of the Otaku world; expect some reviews of the old & obscure, and in-depth geeky knowledge with the occasional top ten and I now have a logo.

Little info about me
Well I'm British and I'm in to all things animated and nostalgia.
I've grown up with every cartoon going and have watched hundreds of anime.
Oh and to answer a question I was asked once, no I don't wear glasses in real life, I would wear Loke's sunglasses though.

Top 100 Worst Anime 50-41

Now were moving into the worst of the worst. Buckle up!

50. Sins of the Sisters
A sequel to an equally baffling horror anime, it's an assault on your senses.

49. Dot Hack Sign
Do you want to hear about MMORPG politics? Do you want to hear it through the eyes of an emo kid locked in the game? There you go, enjoy the extra sleep.

48. Eiken
The most extreme dumbest form of ecchi going that doesn't have enough dignity to even call itself porn.

47. Venus Wars
A very poor mans Gundam with more annoying characters.

46. Tales From Earthsea
Doesn't have the right to call itself a Miyazaki film.

45. Darkstalkers
I know fighting game anime are notoriously bad but this is depressing and it shouldn't be.

44. I Dream of Mimi
Suffers from the same problem as Eiken, doesn't have the dignity to call itself porn.

43. Arcade Gamer Fubuki
You feel really dirty after watching this and it's not easy to feel clean even after a shower.

42. Bleach
Went on too long and gradually got worst and worst over time to the point of just making things up as it went along.

41. Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
No excuse for repeating the same episode 8 times!

Bleach: The Diamond Dust Rebellion Review

Post 17 and we now take a look at the 2nd Bleach Movie Diamond Dust Rebellion.

The 10th Division of the Soul Society has been assigned to guard a sacred artifact until an unknown Soul Reaper steals it from under them but Toshiro Hitsugaya seems troubled by the assailant and goes off after him only to cause a great deal of commotion among the Soul Society as Rangiku and the rest of the 10th Division are stripped of their duty as Hitsugaya has broken the laws of the Soul Society but it soon becomes even more serious when Rukia and a small group of Soul Reapers start working out that the assailant is Hitsugaya's old friend Sojiro Kusaka who was killed because only one person can wield the Zanpakuto Hyorinmaru and by mistake there was two created and the Soul Society are just ass holes who can't see past their stupid traditions and rules.
Anyway Ichigo gets dragged into the scenario by finding Hitsugaya injured but Hitsugaya starts acting emo and saying "it doesn't involve you" but soon gets even more into trouble when he attacks a number of Soul Reapers trying to catch him which just makes him guilty of conspiring to steal the sacred artifact since another attack featured the exact same Zanpakuto.
Once Hitsugaya comes to his senses the whole Soul Society confront Kusaka who uses the artifact to warp reality and make himself all powerful and then the final battle begins.
This film is a poorly edited cut and paste hack job. Bleach is meant to be an action anime, a Shonen Jump action anime and it refused to show any action at all instead having flashes of characters using powers that would've been nice to see in full action. Ichigo's friends fight Kusaka's minions but we never see how; Hitsugaya fights a number of Soul Reapers but we don't see the finishing blow, same goes for Kusaka vs Kyoraku, we never see how the fight ended and to top off the madness they chose Hitsugaya as the focus of this 95 minute film, the least interesting character in the whole of Bleach and I've said before that Bleach does have interesting characters but refuses to use them and that's a real waste, the story itself is okay if done before but as a film it wouldn't really connect to the main series as canon nor does it make Hitsugaya's emoness anymore justified.
Dubbing is top quality but doesn't make the film any better.
20 minutes longer and actually showing us action would've saved this film.
Final Verdict: A horrific mess of poorly strung together scenes and a lack of anything action orientated in what's meant to be a Shonen Jump series made worse when you realize how far the franchise fell afterwards.

Bleach Review

Now to put to bed an anime that's been asking for it for the last few years, it's Bleach.

Ichigo Kurosaki is a kind hearted delinquent who can see ghosts, no this isn't Yu Yu Hakusho but at least you know where the inspiration came from. During the night, a monster known as a hollow appears and is fought off by a Soul Reaper named Rukia who is surprised by Ichigo's ability to see her. As the trouble escalates Ichigo is given some of Rukia's power but ends up taking all of it and becomes a Soul Reaper himself. Not looking too kindly on the events, the Soul Society capture Rukia and sentence her to death. Ichigo feeling responsible goes after her to rescue her but things are not as it seems as someone from inside the Soul Society is using the execution to create their own plans. The rest of the series beyond the Arrancar arc is pretty much making it up as they go along so feel free to stop at that point, which brings up the elephant in the room. What went wrong with Bleach?
At the time it had the same popularity as Attack on Titan does today, the characters were incredible, the story and fighting was epic, it taught One Piece and Naruto to up their game and made them better, so why would that fail?
Well the story that took so long to build up had no payoff in the end, the whole thing with Aizen was ended poorly and as if to rub salt into the wounds, the series kept going with some of the worst writing I've ever read, it came to the point when coming into the last arc, the imagination faded, the action became dreary, the story made no sense and after suffering the Fullbring Arc, none of us couldn't care less if Bleach was cancelled, and by that point the anime already was.
It was like Tite Kubo was insulting our intelligence, he had a chance to close when the opportunity came and didn't, he was too blinded by his ambition to write more that he lost his way, it felt like Dragonball GT all over again only this time the creator made it happen rather than the marketing people. Naruto at least knew it was getting too hard to follow and stopped, Dragonballz is making amends for GT and One Piece is learning to pace itself with it's story to avoid Bleach's downfall.
Dub is good but doesn't excuse the fact that the show is now beyond help.
Final Verdict: It all started so well but after ending a major arc poorly it never recovered and started descending into an endless spiral of poor chapter after poor chapter before crashing into the ground in it's current state, on the last chapters, anime already cancelled and no hope of retaining it's former fans. Good riddance Bleach.

Top 10 Best Anime Teams

Wow it has been a while since I last did a top ten, hopefully this will jump start my inspiration as it's been a bit lacking lately. This is the top ten best anime teams.
Honorable Mentions
Team Anglerfish from Girls Und Panzer: A small unit among a much bigger team which aren't all good.
501st Joint Fighter Wing from Strike Witches: Suffers from Miracle Rookie Syndrome.
Vividred Team from Vividred Operation: Also suffers from Miracle Rookie Syndrome.
The Blitz Team from Zoids: Yep also suffers from Miracle Rookie Syndrome.
The Sailor Scouts from Sailor Moon: Bettered by Smile Precure.
Mew Mews from Tokyo Mew Mew: Bettered by Smile Precure.
Class 2-F from Baka + Test: Despite rattling better teams they still have a low success rate.
InoShikaCho from Naruto: Spent much of Naruto separated when Shikamaru was promoted to Chuunin.
The Knight Sabers from Bubblegum Crisis Old & New: Simply overlooked.
Nadesico Crew from Martian Successor Nadesico: Would collapse without Ruri Hoshino.
The Slayers from Slayers: Couldn't operate without Lina Inverse.
Imperial Floral Assault Unit from Sakura Wars: Too many moments of internal conflict and bullying when Sakura Shinguji joined.
Masamune Date's Army from Sengoku Basara: Date has a tendency to get distracted fighting Yukimura.

10. Inazuma Eleven from Inazuma Eleven
A team forged by a charismatic goalkeeper, the Inazuma Eleven took underdog and ran with it becoming the best of the best, there are plenty of player switches throughout the series run but Endou's spirit is what makes the team work and anyone including former rivals can join no problem.

9. The Original Digi-Destined from Digimon
A group of kids united with their Digimon to save the Digital and Human worlds, while many teams have followed from season one, it's the original that's always been the strongest and best although some kudos for Digimon Frontier's team for coming closest to the original formula.

8. Smile Precure Team from Smile Precure
I had a hard time choosing from several magical girl teams and eventually settled on the Smile Precure team, while most teams in the Precure Universe has a tendency to build a team around it's leader the Smile Precure team compliment each other much better as none of it's members really had any trouble joining, they didn't suffer with 6th Ranger syndrome (A character and possible former enemy joining the team and being stronger than the others) and up to the finale they finished with probably the most epic group attack in the series.

7. Warrior Strike Team from Burn Up Franchise
If there was any team with emphasis on balance and specialist skills it's the Warrior Strike Team, led by a tough boss and filled with the most crazy yet highly skilled officers, law doesn't stand much of a chance in Police Town.

6. Bladebreakers from Beyblade
Despite splitting up during Season 3, the Bladebreakers are probably the best team in terms of sports and competitive toys, in fact it was the split that made their bond that much stronger as they led teams that they formerly defeated into glory, followed by a reunion for a final battle no one will forget anytime soon. Wish their successors had the same credentials.

5. Team Natsu from Fairy Tail
A team consisting of Fairy Tail's strongest was always going to be something incredible and Natsu and co certainly don't disappoint. Backed up with an option to add extra members depending on season is a nice bonus to keep this team strong, it would be higher except recent chapters have shown the team separated more often.

4. Kogarasumaru from Air Gear
A team built on respect is difficult especially when Ikki had a tough start to life as a Storm RIder but not willing to give in and very keen to stick to a set squad of riders, Kogarasumaru has managed to conquer the Roads and their kings.

3. Team RWBY from RWBY
Because the show is a web series and not released on a major tv network, I do not judge RWBY as a cartoon but since it has a Japanese home release I will judge it as an Anime which is how all cartoons are judged in Japan anyway, confusing yes but it means I can put it on these lists.
Beacon Academy's most famous team is a little bit shaky with their interactions but their team play is only surpassed by number 2 on this list, as some of the most incredible feats in the series have only been possible through team coordinated attacks making them one of the hardest teams to defeat in any series let alone RWBY.

2. Strawhat Pirates from One Piece
Luffy's handpicked crew is impressive, each with their own backstory and options to have guest members, Luffy has never been short of power; even separated Luffy can still forge powerful alliances to topple the World Order and still continue with his crew even after losing his brother which nearly broke his spirit. Many complain about One Piece's length but it's only backed up by a great team and I still have good memories of the Strawhat's team beatdown on Thriller Bark.

1. 11th Division from Bleach
Now a team has to be three things, strong, command respect among it's members and has to have a steady order, while most teams in the Gotei 13 have their issues the 11th Division doesn't. Led by the fight loving Zaraki Kenpachi, the 11th Division is the only team led by a non Bankai user, yet still has members who can use Bankai that are below Captain and Assistant Captain, despite the obvious gains of it's lower members only a couple of characters have left for bigger things, two notable ones being Renji Abarai and the other being Retsu Unohana (Retsu's association with the 11th Division is spoiler so I won't continue) everyone else respects the way the current Zaraki Kenpachi runs things and are happy not to change that order. The other teams on this list and in the honorable mentions have faults and moments which question the effectiveness of the teams while the 11th Division is consistent and always commands respect and earns you more kudos as a lower member as it gears you up for better things the only known team to do that without being a so called "Miracle Rookie".

Top 10 Anime Memes

The ideas are coming in thick and fast as we now run down the Top 10 Anime Memes. These are the memes that keep the internet running between cat videos and actual research.

Pizza Hut Supports the Titans

10. People Die when they are Killed
A poor fan translation of Fate/Stay Night gives poor Emiya Shirou an even worst reputation beyond Mr Preachy. By no means the worst translation but the dumbest one.

9. I Herd U like Mudkips
This evolved from a group of Deviant artists when a founder of a Pokemon Fanart group posted a message saying "I heard you like Mudkips", the rest is history.

8. Attack on Titan's theme goes with everything
An anime equal to Guile's Theme goes with everything; the epic theme song to Attack on Titan really goes all out and has been associated with anything from Pingu to Thomas the Tank Engine.

7. Falcon Punch
It counts as an anime meme, this is where Captain Falcon's punch seemingly destroys pretty much everything while taking down Black Shadow, although the punch predates the series, the meme itself would come when the show aired.

6. With the help of KYOJI!!!!!
More popular than any attack in the G Gundam universe, this is why we love dubs, so over the top, the Japanese does it no justice; they need the help of KYOJI!!

5. Abridged Series
First created by British born internet star LittleKuriboh, the abridged series has evolved beyond a simple piss take of bad dubs into it's own fandom which gives old outdated shows a chance to shine that bit longer. Heck Yu-Gi-Oh would be cancelled by now if not for LittleKuriboh.

4. It's Over 9000!!!
This comes from the first Dragonballz Dub when Brian Drummond gave us a rousing performance of Vegeta during the Saiyan Saga. Probably the only thing that was missed when the dub went Funimation.

3. Loituma Girl
Orihime Inoue spinning a leek on loop to the Finnish Folk Song Levan Polkka. It's become so popular that Basshunter have done a remix of the song and Miku Hatsune will always be forever holding a leek.

2. Pizza Hut supports the Rebellion
Pizza Hut's appearance in Code Geass is rather jarring; the show is about a world run by an expy of the British Empire yet they have access to a Pizza Hut on a regular basis. This isn't the first time Pizza Hut has associated with anime, Attack on Titan helps endorse Pizza Hut as well. Special mention to Dominoes Pizza's personalized Pizzas of the Tiger & Bunny Heroes.

1. Caramell Dansen
This one was obvious, the dance is ultra popular, it appears at least once in every convention, Phineas & Ferb have referenced it and it's as big a staple in the anime genre as Miku Hatsune. And all from a GIF created from Popotan, a lousy anime and sort of okay hentai visual novel game mixed with a track from a Swedish Euro Dance Group.

Expect a Video Game version of this list pretty soon.
