So I returned from my trip yesterday in the Adirondacks' Saranac Lakes region yesterday. 6 Day trip. We had lots of minor injuries, including when our campers didn't purify my co-staff's water the right way and she got violently sick that night. She's fine now. They think she just had a touch of mung. But anyways, I sat them down and made them do it in front of me the next morning. Drop. Mix. Wait. Rinse. Wait.
So in order to celebrate my return to semi-civilization, I spent $95 on the 'ol Amazon last night. Bought a Fables and Hellboy comic, a Hellboy book, the 6th Naruto box set (I know I'm a wee bit behind on that), and the 4th season of Stargate Atlantis. Plus I already have Gotham Knights on the way. I anticipate many a movie marathon.
Watched Hellboy I again today. I forgot how kinda, open-ended that ending was. And they just kinda left Jeffery Tambour somewhere around...anyways, still stoked for the next one even though I don't have another day off till the 14th. Gonna miss the opening of the Dark Knight, cause that's our mid-season and we have a day-off blackout week there, so I probably won't get to see it till actual August.
Other than that, not much goin on. Finished those GITS manga. Pretty good, very engaging. I

Kids came sunday, it's pretty crazy. I'm working with the same aged kids that I've had before, and they seem really good, I like them. Since I'm 21 this year, I'm also assigned the task of planning a 6-day camping trip by myself, getting permits, planning and ordering menus and food, planning the route, etc. It's a lot of pressure, especially since my trip leaves Sunday. We'll be in the Saranac lakes, if anyone knows where that is (in upstate NY) perchance, so hope for good weather for us! We'll be back on the 4th, but out camp's celebrating Independence Day early, so no one will miss it. My co-staff on the trip is actually the girl I was in a cabin with last year, and I really like her so it should be good.
Other than that I've been initiating swim tests for 2 straight days in a 45 degree lake.
I've ordered the special 2-Disc of Gotham Knights, or the Batmanime, as we like to refer to it, and I'll be holding a screening at camp when it arrives. Unfortunately, The Dark Knight comes out on a weekend where we're switching campers, and there's a 5 day blackout period for days off, so I will not be seeing it opening weekend. However, I am planning to see Hellboy II opening weekend.
I saw Get Smart last weekend. It was pretty cute. Not my favorite comedy by far, but definitely not bad. I literally squealed every time Masi Oka was on screen, and went "AWWWWW, HIROOOOOOO!" and my friend got annoyed.
I also spent $70 on manga. Two were volumes of the Korean manga Chung Ryuk...something something something, and the other was two GITS manga, uncensored, and translated and published as they originally appeared in Japan. The main volume of that was $25, but already Batou's had a pretty graphic sexual fantasy. Have to hide that one from the kiddos.
Hope everyone's doing well, sorry I can't comment on your sites!
Keep it real!

Welp, I'm here, getting trained in wilderness first aid, which is somewhat tedious, but it's fun playing the asshole victim in scenarios. I don't have a day off till next week, and I'm going to try and be getting up at 6 AM to jog/hobble around the lake, and then shower, and then use the Internets (which we only got yesterday) all before wake up so I don't have to compete. Other than that, bot much going on here except last night I got to lifeguard 17 skinny-dipping people, a camp first! I saw a lot more titties than is usual for me, but nobody drowned, so all in all a success.
Oh, and I accidentally let the camp director's dog escape from the office so I had to chase her down and catch the damn mop, which was a trial.
Have a good week!

I'm sorry I didn't get my other AN posts up. Things just added between the power being out, and then the next day even though the power came on, after I posted the cable and Internet went out.
And then Friday night was a good friend's birthday, so we went to a jazz club in DC which was pretty cool.
Saturday I hung out with some friends from Silver Spring(Maryland), and we went to a place called the Pirates Tavern. This place was awesome, it was decorated like a tavern, pirate flags everywhere, all the staff were dressed like pirates and wenches and talked like pirates and wenches. The music playing was all pirate drinking songs, and at one point a line from one song went "sex for hire" at which point one of my friends and I mock-shrugged at eachother like, "who's heard of that?" I guess one of the staff saw me, cause he walked by and said "If you think that's bad, we have some tunes that'll turn you absolutely crimson!"
He then did that two more times when he walked by, that same line too.
I was like "I'm really not offended..." but to no avail.
Our server was One-Eyed Mike, who really did have one-eye, he said he lost the other one in a sword accident as an extra on the set of POTC 2. I think I believed him, he was pretty convincing, and he said he did participate in sword fights in ren fairs and stuff, cause he had scars from the live steel. But yeah, pretty awesome guy.
I haven't really been paying attention to the whole fake-subscription fiasco, but was informed of the situation by various people...my only thought is if you say you weren't happy because people were your friends for status reasons, and then you go and make a bunch of fake subscribers to boost your popularity in order to gain more friends for status reasons...uh, well, you can make your own conclusions.
I'm such a nerd, I listened to my guildies doing a raid over vent even though I couldn't participate. Heard a great story froma 47 year old overweight mom about how she had slipped in the bathroom, cut her boob, was lying half way in the tub screaming, and her 13 year old son and 82 year old mother ran in, her son blanched and booked it and her 82 year old mom had to help her out of the tub. Also because of the cut she couldn't wear a bra around for like 3 days. She was laughing about it when she told the story, it was pretty awesome. She was already awesome for being a 47 year old mom and playing WoW though.
Other than that, I'm leaving tomorrow. I'll have some internet access and I'll try to update once a week or once every two weeks or so, just so you guys know how it's going, for all 4 of you that care. I might have to write Becky's writing prompts and get back to her a few days later when I can type them. Which reminds me, I was really proud of my one for yesterday, as it all came off the top of my head.
So, have a really great summer!

So for those of you that cared enough to wonder where I was last night, no, I wasn't in a raid. My WoW account's been canceled anyway. *sobs as she clutches her epic lewt*. You may or may not have been watching your Live Super Doppler Radar and may or may not have noticed a solid blotch of red going over the DC area.
That was me.
Lost power at 3:30 PM, got it back around 9 AM today.
So, I noticed the sky was getting darker, like, black, and went downstairs to check on my dogs. One was inside his crate in the sunroom which is their area, but the other one, the old, arthritic slow one, was on the porch, the big idiot. So I stuck my head out the dog door and called him inside. LITERALLY 30 seconds later, branches starting hitting the house full force. Thank god I got the dog inside, as he probably wouldn't have been able to dodge anything. So it poured, my poor car was being pummeled (luckily no damage), and I was sitting between my dogs in their crates to keep them from getting too upset. Power went out, and I tried to amuse myself by playing the piano. Got the Love Actually theme down, and a really crappy version of "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic" before I called it quits.
All I could hear for about half an hour after the storm were sirens coming from the direction of the big 8 lane highway near my house.
Luckily, I had started to pack for camp, so I knew where my flashlight was.
I went to venture outside of the house to see the damage/get dinner as my microwave did not work, and there were cops at most intersections, but the power was out from my place almost to DC, which is a long way. Part of the metro was down, too. I headed due South, and prayed they were on a seperate power grid.
SUCCESS! They were.Trees were down everywhere, and there was evidence of trees being sawed so traffic could get by. But I made it to Reston and I got me some Chipotle and waited for my dad to get home, which had taken about 2 hours.
We turned on the radio and listened to the havoc. Tornados in VA and MD. Not one, but many. We got hit with another really bad storm later. I got a really sweet sketch in, which I'll upload later, and got one game of battleship out of my dad. Then called 4 people to bother them cause I was bored.
So all in all, a fun afternoon and evening.
