Movie Weekend

Hi everybody. So this weekend I ended up going to the movie theater both yesterday and today to see the new Wonder Woman movie and the latest version of The Mummy staring Tom Cruise. I thought I'd briefly go ahead and share my thoughts on both films.

Wonder Woman: This movie ended up being a lot better than I expected. To be honest, I kind of assumed that this movie would suck because of how bad Batman and Superman: Dawn of Justice was (not that I've actually seen that movie, but I've heard awful things about it). I mostly went to see Wonder Woman because my aunt really seemed to want to see it. But this movie was actually pretty well done. There were parts of it that I found to be pretty predictable, but the character development was spot on.

The Mummy: In a word, this movie was interesting. I'm not yet really sure how to rate the film's interpretation of Egyptian mythology, but it was nice having a woman as the movie's title villain. Tom Cruise did an okay acting job, though the film may not have been his best work. The only thing about the movie that seemed to make no sense was having Russel Crowe show up as Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde. I mean the idea of an organization that fights supernatural evil showing up in the film makes total sense, but it didn't seem like any reason for that group's leader and founder to be Dr. Jekyll beyond the purpose of setting up a potential Dr. Jekyll movie in the future. It just seemed like this weird random thing that didn't have any proper place in the whole movie.

So obviously I had a pretty good weekend. In addition to the movies, my aunt also got be a couple of new books (an H.P. Lovecraft story collection and Doctor Sleep by Stephen King). Anyway, I recommend giving both the movies I talked about a look. Neither film may be great art (Again, what the hell was Dr. Jekyll doing in The Mummy? It makes no sense.), but they are pretty fun. What would kind of cool now would be to see a crossover of the two movies, but I doubt that's going to happen anytime soon.

Until next time, ladies and gentlemen.
