Yard Tales and Other Stuff

Hi everyone. Just thought I'd update everyone with another little post. Things have been going pretty good for me for the most part. I don't remember if I've mentioned it before, but for my final online class I'm doing an internship at my local public library. It's been a pretty good gig so far. Mostly what I've been doing so far is helping out with this project to update the labels of all the books in the library's collection by going online to see if a particular book is part of a series, and if so what number in the series it is. I've come across a lot of interesting book titles actually. Also, tomorrow I'll be starting my traditional reading of the original Sailor Moon manga, which is appropriate since it was fourteen years ago around this time when I first saw a portion of the first Sailor Moon anime.

Anyway, so today I had a little bit of an accident outside in my yard. I was mowing the lawn, and when I was about halfway done with the front yard I accidentally ran it over the tree stump we have out there (we used to have a tree in the front yard that we had to cut down because it died) and I really bent the blade. I called my dad immediately after it had happened. He wasn't mad though, and he had kept the blade from our old lawnmower, so it was an easy fix. Another thing that happened in my yard later that evening was that this one cat we have living in the neighborhood returned. This is the same cat that snagged a bird off the bird feeder in our front yard that I mentioned in a previous post. He's a very friendly kitty though. My dad's been calling him Ralph.

Getting back to this evening, Ralph was hanging around the bird feeder in our back yard this time, but it wasn't to snag birds this time. Most birds seem to be smart enough to stay away from that bird feeder when Ralph is over there. What Ralph was after this time though was this one gopher that seems to be living under the bird feeder. There's one in the front yard too that's also under our other bird feeder. Of course I suppose it could be the same gopher, I don't know. Either way, Ralph has been trying very hard to catch the little thing(s). It's like a feline version of whack-a-mole. I don't know how Ralph expects to catch that little thing, but my dad and I won't shed any tears if he does somehow. In any case, while Ralph didn't get that gopher tonight, he did snag this one bird that apparently didn't look where he was flying and landed right where Ralph could get to him.

Ralph immediately pounced on the bird, and my dad later had to dispose to the carcass. The really gross thing is that after Ralph left, a whole bunch of birds returned to eat seed either from the bird feeder or from the ground right under it, right where Ralph left that dead bird lying. I mean it was just creepy. At least Ralph left the thing in one piece. We know for sure that he lives in a house somewhere in the neighborhood, so he doesn't need to kill for food. His kills are all for sport. Anyway, sorry if I grossed anyone out just now.

In other news, I've been having a bit of artistic frustration again when it comes to making wallpapers. It seems that whatever site I try, I can't find any good material for making a Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V wallpaper. Or at least not the Arc-V wallpapers that I want to make. And of course Minitokyo is absolutely no help. I mean has anyone been seeing the kind of scans they've been getting lately? Anymore, it almost seems like when I browse the recent scans at Minitokyo I've been looking at the selection at a porn shop. I know it's kind of been that way for a long time, but lately it seems like it's been getting worse.

I think that pretty much covers it for this post. Until next time.
