I Loath Yard Work!

Good evening everyone. I just wanted to spend a few minutes on a post to talk about my day. Those of you reading can probably guess from the title that my day wasn't all that great. And all of you would be right, because I did not have a very fun afternoon. I had to do one of my least favorite household chores, mow the lawn. This time around though, mowing the lawn turned into so much more.

Before I go any further into this story, I should mention that the tree that was growing in our front yard had been dead for several months, in fact I think it's been dead for about a year. So for the past few months my aunt and I have been asking my dad to just cut the thing down, because eventually it would've becoming a hazard of some kind. Well today I finally go out to start mowing the lawn at a little before 2:00, and I find my dad's outside sawing limbs off the dead tree and throwing them in spots on the front yard. I was glad that he was finally cutting the thing down, but it was kind of an inconvenient time.

So eventually I get the backyard and the side yard mowed, and when I go out to the front yard I find that my dad is still cutting down the tree. But by that time he's almost done, and I ended up helping my dad push the remains of the tree down. That wasn't the end of it though. The tree may have been cut down, but the pieces had to be hulled off. It ended up taking my dad three trips to get rid of it all, and in the meantime I had to spend several minutes cutting the pieces that were too big to put into our neighbor's pickup (which my dad borrowed) into smaller more manageable chunks.

When all the tree remains were finally hulled away, I was finally able to get back to mowing the lawn. But just as I was getting close to being done, it started to rain. It rained for probably only just five or ten minutes, but a lot came down and of course the grass was too wet to mow anymore. By that time it was about 4:30, so I just put everything away and jumped in the shower to rinse off all the sweat that was covering my face. So as it is, I have to go back out tomorrow afternoon to try and finish the job.

That was pretty much the worst part of my afternoon. Other than that though, it was an okay day I guess. It was pretty average for a Sunday actually. Of course it would've been better if there was actually stuff to watch on T.V. Actually, one of the networks did show the first Amazing Spider-Man movie again, so I watched most of that before going out to mow the lawn (that was my third time watching it, so I wasn't missing anything). When I got back inside though, my only choices for T.V. viewing were the T.V. Guide Channel and some horrid movie on Lifetime. And the movie that the T.V. Guide Channel was showing at the time was a bit worse than the Lifetime movie, though not by much. It was kind of a television purgatory there for a couple of hours.

That pretty much wraps it up for this post. Until next time, I'd like to congratulate Judai Winchester for becoming the Featured Artist of the Month here on TheO. That's an awesome achievement, and one that's well-deserved.
