Packing Peanut Days

Ladies and gentlemen, Journey.

Hello again everyone. Just thought I'd do another post to let everyone know how things have been going for me. So once again we've come to those few days between Christmas and New Years Eve, and usually I tend to think of these few days in the following way. Let's all think of a year as a package from the cosmos, or God, or time or whatever. We each open this package and find that it's filled with a lot of different things that take us all a while to pull out. These things I speak of are general special events like holidays and birthdays, significant global or national events like the ebola thing or the death of a celebrity, and of course major personal events like a wedding or a death in the family. We pull all these things out of the box, and after we pull out Christmas, all that's left in the box are New Years Eve and a few extra days that are basically foam packing peanuts. There's nothing real special about them, and there's very little chance that anything major or significant will happen during those few days. They're just there to fill in the space.

Just thought I'd share that little metaphor with everyone. Anyway, my Christmas went well, though it ended a little on the weird side. I ended up getting most of what I wanted, though I didn't get the biggest items on my list which were those manga volumes I asked for. But oh well, that's just how it goes sometimes. I did get the one anime series I asked for, at least. Not to mention some of the movies and books I wanted. I even got a couple of CDs, which is kind of an item you don't really expect to get in this day and age of the download. As I said though, my Christmas ended in kind of a weird way. My dad and I didn't actually have any dinner with my mom's side of the family, plus my favorite cousin wasn't there because he had to work that day. At about 6:00 my dad and I went home and we ended the day by watching an old Christmas movie staring John Denver. It was kind of on the depressing side really, though not as depressing as say a very low budget Christmas where all the gifts were bought from the gas station down the street at like the last minute and dinner is held at some greasy spoon of a diner (or a Village Inn).

I had a good day this past Saturday too. My aunt an I went out of town where we had lunch at a Red Lobster. Afterwards we went to a bookstore where I managed to quickly get my hands on this one bit of manga that came out in the past month. Then after that, we went to go see that movie, The Imitation Game. It's actually a pretty good movie, not to mention a very interesting and perhaps little known bit of history. So for a packing peanut day, it was pretty good.

Today though was a complete contrast to that Saturday, and was the shining example of why most people hate Mondays. There was a lot of aggravation and annoyance. I spent about fifteen minutes that morning out in the cold trying to scrape the ice off the windshield of my car. Of course the worst part of today was that I was without the internet for most of the afternoon. Our modem ended up permanently flaking out on us, so my dad had to got an get a new one. Obviously the new modem is working, as I was able to put up this post. But it was still very inconvenient. Plus I ended up not being able to do any work at all on my current fanfic. I did compile some of my old notes for other potential fanfics I may or may not do to make them easier to reference, but that was it.

Well, I think that about covers it for this post. Until next time.
