That First Week

Ladies and gentlemen, The Police.

That song has been going through my head since a few evenings ago when it was parodied in a Simpsons rerun. Anyway, I've kind of been thinking about how this week has been going. It's had a few bumps, but it's otherwise been okay. Yet the one thing I've had to remind myself of is that the first week back from the holiday break is never easy. I'm sure we all know how it goes. During those two weeks we let our normal routines simply drop. The difference between a weekend and a weekday loses all meaning, except when it comes to what's on TV. So when we suddenly have to get back into that routine, it takes a little while to get back into that rhythm.

There's another thing about that first week that doesn't help make things easy, and it has to do with this time of year. It's one of the few things that I dislike about winter, and I'm sure a few of you reading will know what I'm talking about. It's when you first wake up in the morning and the temperature of your room is way lower than the temperature under the covers. So getting out of bed is almost like going outside in the Antarctic wearing nothing but a pair of socks. Yet you don't really have a choice because you have to get up and go to school or work, or maybe just have to use the bathroom. I've always hated that.

Anyway, I think for the most part this week has gone pretty well for me. My current fanfic seems to be doing pretty well. And a couple of nights ago I finished Sword Art Online. I found out that the subtitled version was on Youtube, so I went ahead and watched the last six episodes that have yet to air on Toonami. I gotta say, that was one hell of a series. I don't think I've been this moved by an anime series since Kannazuki no Miko (Destiny of the Shrine Maiden). But yeah, this week hasn't been all that easy, but it's been going pretty well. I hope everyone else has been having the same kind of week.
