Double Major~

I filled out the paperwork for declaring my Global Studies and Spanish double major. I felt like improving my Spanish and figured that I might as well get a degree. I also decided that for my upper division work, I'll chose Latin America and Iberia to focus on. I wish we could chose multiple regions, in that case, I'd go foe Europe, Asia AND Latin America.

Geniuses and failure...

I started gathering info for my Greek Myth essay I lost $10 to make this possible, so I *have* to work on it and make it great and something that's been in the back of my head for a while finally broke through.

I decided to go for the different ways a character is portrayed in various texts. I chose Odysseus over Achilles, well, because he's Odysseus, I admire his cunning and the fact that I find him infinitely more interesting than Achilles who is all brawn and rage and rarely stops to think about anything As I glanced through the Iliad, Odyssey and "The Contest for Achilles' Arms" I found how differently his smarts are taken by different characters/groups. Most admire his brain and his ability to use trickery to get his desired result as well as his persuasiveness and diplomatic skills; others scoff at this, since he is "not being straight-forward and honorable (work smart > work hard). Despite being praised for being smart, the hardships he suffers throughout his journey home are caused by stupid decisions he makes.

Which leads me to my question: why are geniuses always failing in fiction (books, myths, manga, anime, you name it) despite clearly having the ability to overcome the obstacles? Why are not-as-bright-characters always triumphing?

Sure, maybe the geniuses were a little too sure of themselves and miscalculated the end results or were blinded by their ambitions, but still...why?

Usually when the main character's a genius of sorts, the story revolves around their failures or their ultimate demise...

Just my random thoughts...

When you're used to having the room to yourself...

...you just can't help but wish your roommate would leave. That, and wonder what she's doing here.

Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike her at all, it's just that I'm so used being alone in my room (even at night, all the way up to who knows what hour since I can go to bed at 2am and she's still not here) that her being in here feels weird. Most of the time she's been asleep...so I've had to be quiet all day.

Meh, at least I was able to finally continue watching Darker than Black instead of doing homework

OTL

I had to buy an e-book because I was a total idiot and left a Greek Myth, no, *the* book (containing the Iliad and Odyssey) at home thinking I didn't need it anymore. When do you NOT need the Iliad and Odyssey in a GREEK MYTHOLOGY CLASS?! All the essay prompts were about these two OTL $10 down the drain for a "book" only because my brain decided to stop functioning properly for a few hours. On the upside, I can ignore people on the bus by reading it <----my lame attempt at trying to find something good about this

-__-" I just keep finding reasons to *love* this system

Seriously, the state of California apparently thinks I have time to come down to LA on a weekday to go get my CalGrant verification signed by my high school counselor. I'm sending my mom to do this, hopefully they'll sign it and send it on its way or else I'll have even less money to work with for next year >__>"

Done ranting for now now back to Persona 4 (so NOT cool to mess with my feelings like that you evil, yet amazing game >__<)
