I LOVE INTO THE WILD. Well, the book at least; I haven't seen the movie yet. However, I do adore this song, because it perfectly matches Krakauer's tone of the novel. If you read the book and listen to this song (or any on the album) you will feel that wandering sentiment, as if you aimlessly meander along the empty wilderness of the west. It's a good feeling. :)
1. Into the Wild. Great book. Read it, please please please, if you haven't!!! It's indescribably amazing.
2. I burned my thumb with a hot glue gun a few weeks ago. :S The hot glue dripped straight from the nozzle onto it, and stupidly I tried to rip the glue off, but ended up tearing all of the burned skin off as well as burning other fingers. Luckily, with countless Band-Aids and an ever-present tube of Neosporin, it has scabbed over and is healing wonderfully. :)
3. School is ok. I'm doing very well in all of my classes (except Algebra, ahh!), but I'm just ready to get the year over with so I can be lazy and draw! D:
4. The reason that I have not been on as much as I've wanted to is because I've been playing Oblivion for the PC like..nonstop. It's absolutely insane. BUT I LOVE IT!! This game is everything I could ever want. Er, well, I guess not everything, because it doesn't have zero-calorie sugary desserts that materialize out of the computer screen, haha. Now that would be everything. But still, I am totally hooked. It's like WoW, but better and not online. I'm a Wood Elf with an endless supply of Zombie summons! And I just got into the Dark Brotherhood, which is totally epic, because I can kill people and get paid at the same time!!! :DDDD I'm so happy.
5. My cousin has been living with us while she's renting out her apartment, and she is so much fun to have around. Although she makes us clean up and do the dishes and help cook (we're spoiled, just like everyone else in the area), she is very fun to hang out with. My sister is kind of mean sometimes, though, because she wants to hang out with my cousin more than I do, but I'm dealing with it. :) Otherwise everything's great.
6. Outside, it smells like smoke constantly because of all the grassfires that have happened recently being blown in by the wind. Luckily, none have been around here, but when my pets come in from chillin' out back, they smell like cigarette smoke or something, and it's not very good. Stupid wind! It's insanely strong and it blows in the smoke from a hundred miles away; it's gross. I hope the fires get put out and prevented soon, and I hope that all the people that have experienced them are ok.
7. Sunshine Cleaning was a pretty good movie, and that's coming from a person who usually doesn't like the indie-type movies. :) The kitten was quite frankly the best part of the movie, while Lesbian Lynn was the worst, in my point of view. As for other movies, I just want to see the Dragonball movie, Monsters vs Aliens, and Up when it comes out. I need to watch more children's movies...:(
8. Harper's Island is pretty good too! I watched it last night before I went to bed, and it was very creepy. Abby is kind of a Mary-Sue, but I hope that she grows on me throughout the weeks. I'm just happy because this is kind of like a modern-day And Then There Were None (by Agatha Christie).
OK, Oblivion time! More to come later, I hope. :)
edit/
Before I forget, I'm also excited for I Am Alive and Dante's Inferno to come out!! (They're video games but sadly won't come out until much later in the year/next year.) They look AWESOME.
I. Love. New Orleans. I just got back from my St. Patrick's Day trip, and I have to be totally honest - I really dislike Texas and Allen compared to Louisiana. Seriously. I'm so excited for next year's trip!!!! Hopefully we can stay a lot longer than this time, like maybe a week? And hopefully it'll be sunny, because it rained during the parade (and made me look like a wet mutt).
I am jealous if you live there or near there!!
The most powerful instrumental song I have ever heard. It's been years since a song actually made me cry during the first listen.
1. School has been extremely stressful the past few weeks, and it's only going to get worse seeing as how we have state TAKS tests next week. I don't know yet if I'll be able to get on a lot, but I kind of doubt it. :(
2. I found out that I adore Adam Young's music. I thought that he only did Owl City, but he also has side projects like Port Blue and Swimming with Dolphins! :) Of course all of his music is stunningly beautiful...my favorite songs are Rainbow Veins (Owl City), At Anchor (Port Blue) and Sunset 1989 (Swimming with Dolphins). He is so amazing!!
3. I've been thinking about my Costa Rica trip these past few days, and I just realized: I might get hives. I was like OH MY GOD SHOOT! My dad apparently gave me the gene of getting hives in tropical areas when exposed to a mixture of sun, sand and sea. I'm kind of sad, but my mom's going to give me some benadryl to take along with me. Hopefully I won't break out in front of some hot Costa Rican chicos!! ; ; (But at least I will get to go to New Orleans un-hived in two weeks!)
4. We're going to be building Gothic cathedrals in my Humanities class these next few weeks! :))))) I'm so so so so excited!!!! Whoever builds the highest, most beautiful, movable structure will get a reward. Who knows what prizes are in store!
5. I officially hate Texas now because of the fickleness of the weather! It's like a pregnant woman with mood swings: Wednesday at 9:00PM it was 89º outside. Yesterday? About 34º. I was wearing spring clothes because I thought the cold was over, but no sir, we still got some fronts upon us! It is absolutely ridiculous.
6. What is up, TheOtaku? I've reported 3 art thefts in the past 24 hours. Seriously. Not cool. You kids need to ask for a mentor or something and learn how to create your own things, not go over to deviantART and pick out the prettiest picture of L and Naruto and Ichigo to claim as your own. Because you know what? They're not yours. You're sick. People work extremely hard to create their own artwork, and you just yank it from their grasp, punch them in the stomach, and call it yours. Part of me wishes art theft was an actual crime. Trials, sentences, arraignments, the whole deal, because art deserves it.
7. American Idol this season is, so far, not as memorable as past seasons. :( I have been watching it since the Auditions, maybe missing a few episodes here and there, but I can't remember most of the contestants. Not to mention I hate Kara DioGuardia. She caused thousands torture by making Nick Norman Gentle whatever the HELL his name is get through not once, but what, 4 TIMES. He is so BAD I had to scream and walk out of the room while he screeched out formerly respectable songs. It was unbearable. The only contestants I like are Kris Allen, Allison Iraheta, and Daniel Gokey. (I also think Anoop should have gotten in over Michael, no offense). So yeah, overall the show's not doing it for me as much as last season's or the season before. Hopefully it'll get there in the finales. I want a guy to win. WE NEED ANOTHER HOTTIE.
On that light note, goodbye folks! I am going to go watch SNL. Talk to you later, but hopefully I'll have some art up before then. :)
I love Ne-Yoooooooooo! The R&B part of me really wishes Year of the Gentlemen won the Album of the Year...but even if it didn't, it's still an awesome album! This is definitely one of my favorite songs, along with Stop the World.
1. Happy Hearts Day tomorrow! If I don't crank another picture out by then....well, I'm hope you'll be satisfied with a googly-eyed lemur owl lizard! :) I'm not doing anything...probably just chillin' at home, playing Rock Band...
2. ...which we got because my sister was just confirmed to be a National Merit Scholarship Finalist!!!! :)))))) It's so amazing, like seriously! Basically because of this, she's going to college Baylor for FREE! To be totally honest, she is amazingly smart, and I really hope that I can get to her level when I take the SAT and ACT.
3. But I'm on the right route, so far! I just had a meeting with my counselor, and she told me that she wouldn't be surprised if I was nominated for National Merit with my scores. :) Apparently, my math score on last year's TAKS (Texas Association of Knowledge and Skills) test was the highest that she's seen all year. So that's really really good! And here I thought I was terrible at math, haha. But yeah, she said I should take as many AP classes as possible, which I am, so that I don't have a boring and totally free experience at college by having to repeat everything. :)
4. Rock Band is really funnnnn....I'm actually kinda good on the guitar! Er, well, bass. I can play Bass on Hard, which is good for me, because I've failed every attempt at playing Guitar Hero ever.
5. If a release date for Half Life 2 Episode 3 isn't announced soon, I'm going to blow a gasket. >:I The concept art is beautiful (and one has the honor of being my desktop background), however I've seen the same 4 pictures recycled too much. I'm ready for a trailer, please!
6. I want to start reading superhero comics! Like, American Marvel comics or something. No reason, they just look interesting. Now that I've gotten past the art style, which I've always had a problem with until now, I'm actually becoming fairly intrigued with the characters and storylines.
7. Anybody read about that 13-year old kid Alfie? It's totally twisted and disgusting. Seriously. Does society just love getting their babies pregnant with more babies? It's gross! And to add to that, 99% of all these kids have no way to get money except from their parents! Totally weird. I don't know when the idea of "having a baby when your 15" became a good idea, but it ain't ever going to fly by me.
8. Last week was a total nightmare, but I managed to survive failing a test and writing a major essay and staying up until midnight doing homework (without any exaggeration), so I think the worst of February has come and gone.
9. Now I just have to work on VASE! Here's another WIP of Marcelline:

I'm totally making it either: A) into a children's book, B) into a comic, C) a trailer to pitch in the future, or D) a personal side-project to write and animate throughout high school and college!
Any way I choose, I know I'll have a blast with it. :)))))))
Talk to y'all later. Have a wonderful Valentine's Day, and whatever other holidays I may miss until the next journal!
Slumdog Millionaire was the best movie I have ever seen. I'm usually not big on Bollywood music, but this film did it so well that I'm going to buy the whole album when I get more iTunes credit. If you have not yet seen this film, I recommend it with all my heart!!
1. Superbowl today! Who would've ever thought the Cardinals v. the Steelers. Seriously. I have pretty much never heard of either until this season, lol. But I think it should prove to be exciting. At least the Patriots aren't dominating again. And I won't even speak of the Cowboys other than they are a disgrace this season. >:I Anyway...I'm not rooting for either team this time, just looking for a good game. :)
2. I've been spending a lot of my time working on a picture for the VASE competition coming up on Feb. 21st. I'm really really nervous!!! :S I want to do a really good job and go to state and get a gold seal, but I don't know if they'll like storybook pictures as much as self-portraits. I say that because pretty much all of the gold seal winners have been pictures of self-portraits. I just thought that the idea was so unoriginal, so I wanted to do something different. Here's the WIP:

3. I'm going to New Orleans for St. Patty's day this year! :))))) We're going during my school's spring break, and I get to leave possibly the friday before it, so I can miss a day of school. YESSSSSS. I'm really excited! First New Orleans, then Costa Rica!
4. Elaborating on more future trips, summer of 2010 I will probably be going on a 10-day trip from Rome to Florence to Paris with my Humanities class! I don't really care about the Paris aspect of it, but I'm a big buff on the Roman Empire, and I'm super excited to go to Italy. I also may may may be going to Australia this Christmas with my family. My parents, sister, and I had a huge conversation about it, and my parents are leaning towards it, if the price isn't too high. We'd just take a big tour around Australia, and maybe stay a few days in Alice Springs, where I was born. :))))))
5. Valentine's Day is coming up! Who will be your sweetheart? I probably won't have one, but I'll get presents for all my friends and such. Maybe a V-Day picture is necessary, too. We will see.
6. I've been looking around on Newgrounds a lot lately; it's a really fun site for when you're super bored! A lot of the games are really witty and entertaining, the movies are silly (except for serious ones, as expected), and the music is amazing! My favorite music is anything by Danman87; my favorite movies are a toss up between Serpent's Grave :Pitch: (which I recommend for all fantasy/history-buffs like myself), and any Blockhead movie (which are so utterly ridiculous I can't help but love them); my favorite games are Grid, Magnet Towers, and Seppukitties. If you are really bored, then I'd totally recommend NG if you haven't heard of it already. :)
7. I'M REALLY HAPPY RIGHT NOW. Just because.
9. What happened to eight?
Anyway, talk to you guys later. I may not post for a while, but you can still catch me through comments and PMs (which I always read, if you've thought otherwise). Thank you so much for the support on my pictures, it means a lot! If you want me to check out your stuff or someone else's stuff, all you have to do is PM. :)
Ciao for now.
