Welcome to trance sessions the world for trance. This world is for both those who have been listening to trance and for those new to this genre of music.
What is trance? Well, I'll give the textbook answer here lifted from Wikipedia In the early 1980s, the German composer Klaus Schulze composed several albums of experimental, atmospheric "space music". Two of his albums from the 1980s include the word "trance" in their titles: Trancefer (1981) and En=Trance (1987)[2]
Some of the earliest identifiable trance recordings came from The KLF, a UK-based acid house group. The most notable of these were the original 1988 / 1989 versions of "What Time Is Love?" and "3 a.m. Eternal", along with "Kylie Said Trance" (1989) and "Last Train to Trancentral" (1990). The KLF labeled these early recordings "Pure Trance". While the KLF's works are clear examples of proto-trance, two songs, both from 1990, are widely regarded as being the first "true" trance records. The first is Age of Love's self-titled debut single which they released in early 1990 and is seen a basis for the original trance single. The second track was Dance 2 Trance's "We Came in Peace", the b-side of their own self-titled debut single. Another influential song was Future Sound Of London's "Papua New Guinea" (1991). One of the most popular trance songs is Cafe Del Mar, by Energy 52. It is one of the songs with the most remixes in the world. This song was one of the first melodic trance songs
Acid house a psychadelic spin off house music (which is named so because of a club in it's origin city Chicago named the "Warehouse Club") and had a big influence on trance. But that's a post you'll see down the road...
Now this song truly is trance. It has that kind of sound that puts you into a... well a trance! I first heard it in the Above and Beyond podcast that I mentioned a while ago.
I walk on and on. One city, or region or even country is not for me to settle in. I must never stop this whole Earth must be traversed miles and miles. Some would call me a drifter, but I walk on and on because I must in order to keep things in check on this planet. Some would call me a hero a wandering guardian. This place here is exceptionally beautiful but I can't stay here, I have to keep walking. I have to see it all the ugliness along with the beauty. Sometimes I feel I wasn't meant to be here. No matter where I go it seems I don't really belong. Like I was never a part of this planet in the first place. I'm a wandering being who wishes to go back home and finally be able to stop, and give my weary legs a break.
Well, this time I'm featuring two classics. Both of them are mentioned in the intro to the world and I thought, "well those songs are considered classics and they're mentioned in the intro AND I love them a heck of a lot too..." I might as well put them up!
First up is Age Of Love by you'll never get this... Age Of Love!
When I first heard it years ago I used to call the song "The angelic stomp" because of the angelic like vocal you hear with a booming bass added to it. It was like an angel singing and stomping it's feet.
That song is also the theme for my character Sidra.
For some reason hearing it makes me think of her so I made it her theme.
As for the next song, this one is called Papua New Guinea by Future Sound Of London. If there is a short way to describe this song, it's dreamlike at least for me. It gives off a mood that is like the moods of my dreams.
Also about this song, well since it's so very dreamlike and all I've made it the theme to a certain comic I've been drawing in secret.
Well, those are the vids, hope you like them! These ones in particular really live up to the name trance. Not only are the songs hypnotic but the videos are pretty psychedelic too.
Also please go ahead and look at previous posts and comment them too!
This time I'm going to mention two podcasts which are done every week by official artists those being Armin Van Buuren and Above And Beyond. Both podcasts actually not only feature their own new works but they feature a lot of other artists up and coming music as well.
So you can either just open up iTunes and search for A State Of Trance podcast, which is Armin's podcast it also happens to be the name of his album so make sure you look in podcasts and not albums. Though the album is good. :D Or you can go to his official site and subscribe there. Armin's Podcast
To listen to Above And Beyond's Trance Around The World podcast you can search for Trance Around The World in iTunes or go to their site http://www.aboveandbeyond.nu/ and click on TATW Podcast which will take you to the subscription page in iTunes.
The first song is Imagine by Armin Van Buuren. Let me just say that when I first heard this song I pretty much immediately went out and bought it on iTunes. My opinion about this track is that it's not only a great trance track but a great piece of music. A brilliant piece of artistry it's one of those songs that is above something like genre and is just something that's amazing to listen to. Armin Van Buuren was genius here.

¸„ø¤º°¨ BUUREN ``°º¤ø (I see this thing every where on things that deal with Armin Van Buuren)
This next track is actually one I've posted already on other places but darn it I'll post it again!
It's called Anthem by Filo & Peri feat. Eric Lumiere. If there was a track that I'd have to say was representative of the genre of trance I'd have to say it's Anthem, perfect name for it no? Being called Anthem and it pretty much is the anthem for us who listen to trance. Beautiful song the accoustic guitar in it is so beautiful.
This is an anthem for the girl that got away, this is an anthem for the war of yesterday...
Well, for my first post in this new world I think it would be appropriate to feature the song that got me into trance in the first place. That would have to be Robert Miles' classic track Children. Bit of history on it way back when I still lived ...
