Tales Of Esclavia

Sorry, again this isn't a pokemon story but since I wrote it already I decided to post it.

Tales of Esclavia

Far away there is a world of magic, where the strangest things can happen including a story that is about to unfold for a young girl, in a strange kingdom, unknown to most in this world of magic. It is as small as an island so its not well known. Its Esclavia. In this kingdom, monsters run rampant under the command of an evil man bent on world domination, Valdora. But he decided to start small and attack here. Just like everywhere in this world, the kingdom did have magic, but this evil man would destroy or take any new magic users he found. So the magic became lost. The kingdom was powerless until a young group rose up under the command of a strange girl and took back some of the lost magic. They then taught it to anyone who would learn so that they could win back their kingdom. But in the middle of it all the young girl in charge of the resistance fell ill. Before she died she disappeared into the woods nearby and wasn’t seen again. 20 years passed and the resistance disbanded without her but never forgot the magic they learned or the lessons they were taught. So whenever an evil monster came they would fight against it just like old times. This is were our tale begins.

Young 10 year old, Rika was picking sleep flowers in the field that day like always, Since her mother had nightmares of the monsters from her childhood and couldn’t sleep without them(sleep flowers induce instant sleep and can also block dreams when smelled). As she was heading home afterwards she heard a load crash. She could only think one thing ‘monster, no!’ and she ran home as fast as she could. When she got home she saw her parents fighting a monster with all their strength. When her parents were younger they had been part of the resistance so they remembered how to fight but were to weak now to do much. Rika had studied monsters a lot and thought of which one this was. She looked at its face. It was a giant troll, and not a good one. Than she recognized a mark on its cheek. It was a large X. This was Vanza, the strongest and most feared giant troll of them all. She saw her parents do one final attack and injure its left arm. It screamed in agony and hit them against a wall and took off. She ran down to the village in horror to see if they were ok. When she got there she saw her parents were dead. She hit the ground and burst into tears and screamed at the sky “I will avenge them! Do you hear me Vanza! Do you hear me Valdora!”
A woman walked up behind her and said, “You’ll need training for that, where will you get it?” asked the woman.
“Ill train myself!” shouted Rika. Then she looked up and saw who was looking at her. The woman had knee length golden hair and Emerald green eyes. She was in a pure brown knee length dress and had a bow and arrows on her back. She had a sword in a leather sheath on her left hip and a shield on her back next to the arrow case.
“If you want, ill train you but it wont be easy.” said the woman.
“I can do it!” said Rika as she stood up and wiped her tears.
“Than follow me.” said the woman with a small grin.
They walked into the center of the wood and then all of a sudden the woman tossed Rika a wooden sword. “Huh?” said Rika. And as she looked up she was that the woman was holding one too.
“We will start with the basics of sword fighting. First stance.” said the woman as she stood with her sword in both hands in the center of her body, her knee’s where equal distance apart and slightly bent. “Copy me on this first.” said the woman. Rika followed. “Now, we can start on the actual moves.” said the woman. “The second thing to learn is a basic swing.” the woman said as she moved the sword over to one shoulder and swung it in front of her and to the other one without touching anything and back into the middle. “Now copy.” she said. Rika followed, It took her a second to get it right. They practiced like this all day, doing basic skills and techniques. In the end Rika was exhausted. When the sun started to go down the woman said, “Ok, were done for today.” At that moment Rika hit the ground exhausted.
“So where are you staying tonight?” asked the woman.
This caught Rika off guard. She had never had to do anything without her parents so she never had to worry about it. But without them, she couldn’t stay at their rented house. “I don’t know.” said Rika worried.
“Thought so.” said the woman. “Go pack your things. You can stay with me.”
Rika was stunned at the generosity and could only say, “Ok. Thank you.”
“No problem, now go pack.” said the woman with a smile. Rika went home and ran to her room. They weren’t a very wealthy family so they didn’t have much. She grabbed her old Puffy Stuffed Animal(a Puffy is a little creature that looks kind of like a furry snow ball. They come in all colors), and a blanket she has had since she was little(it was made of fleas that would keep her warm), and then she grabbed her fathers old sword and shield, and her moms bow and arrows, and a picture of them all, and went to meet her new sensei in the field that they had trained in. “I’m packed.” Rika said as she arrived.
“Good, then lets go.” said the woman. “By the way my name is Alexis Hope. Its nice to meet you Rika Pandora.” Rika was shocked. How did this woman know her true last name. She followed interested as can be. They walked through the woods for a while until they arrived at a hole in the ground. “Jump in!” said Alexis excitedly as she jumped into the whole. Rika followed and fell down a dirt whole that was as fun as a slide. When at the bottom they came out at a cave. It was lightened up with all colors of glow stones(glow in the dark stones. They come in all colors.) and had a little spring on one side and a straw mattress on the other. There was also a small wooden shelf with lots of stones and plants on it. “Magic Stones and herbs. They come in handy.” said Alexis while smiling. She walked over to the bed and pulled it apart into two beds. “Its not paradise but its home.” said Alexis. Rika walked up to one bed, put her blanket down and curled up under it with her fluffy toy in her arms and her backpack next to the bed. “Goodnight.” said Alexis as she fell asleep. Rika knew that her new life was anything but normal.
When she woke up in the mourning she smelled pancakes. She looked up and saw Alexis backing pancakes mid air on a flame on her hand. “How are you doing that?!?” asked Rika astonished.
“I’m a wizard you know. I can do much more than this. For instance, you are taking yesterdays sword training and putting magic to it today.” said Alexis.
“Who are you?” asked Rika confused on where she could have learned this.
“If you beet me after your training, ill tell you.” said Alexis with a giggle. That day they went over all the stances and moves they had the day before and then, “Now, we need to teach you how to add fire to your sword. First step, focus on the end of your sword. Second, think of the fire and imagine what it will look like. Third, tell yourself its read and concentrate on making it so.” said Alexis. Rika closed her eyes and thought of what flames looked like in a fireplace. Then she tried putting them on the sword. ‘It didn’t work…’ thought Rika disappointed. “Don’t worry about it. If it was that easy it wouldn’t be worth working at. You just need to keep trying.” At the end of the day she had gotten it and had also learned how to do it with water and wind. Adding more earth to it was hard though. She didn’t get it until the next day. After that they spent a week on making the sword bigger through magic and making it unbreakable. The next day Alexis handed Rika a master crafted sword. “I have a sword you know.” said Rika.
“You aren’t ready to use your dads sword just yet. And this sword is just as good, it just isn’t as practiced in fighting. Just like you.” said Alexis.
“Were did you get a master craft sword anyway?” asked Rika.
“I came across a lot in my travels.” said Alexis. After a week Rika got used to using a real sword instead of a wooden one. The next few weeks Alexis taught her how to throw the elements with her sword. After three weeks past Alexis said, “We are done with swords for now. On to shields.” so for the next week she taught Rika how to use a shield. After that, “Ok, we are ready to start with shield magic. The first thing you must do is block fire with a wooden shield.” said Alexis as she threw Rika a wooden shield. “You have to make this shield into iron with your magic. Visualize it and do it!” said Alexis as she threw a fire ball. Rika burned up three shields before she got it right. “Now you have to block a liquid attack by making you shield larger that you. Make it bigger!” said Alexis as she spouted the water attack. Rika got it right on her second try. “Now we need to teach you how to apply elemental magic to a shield. it’s the same as to a shield except that you need to do it so as to protect you not attack an enemy. You need to use a water shield for fire attacks and so forth.” said Alexis. After a month they got that done. They spent the next 4 months perfecting them. She had mastered shield and sword with and without magic by then. After that they started archery training. “Hit all the targets by making this one arrow multiply to hit the center target and the 10 circling it.” said Alexis the day she was teaching Rika arrow multiplication. “Control the arrows movements with your mind by focusing on where you want it to go.” she said as she taught Rika how to control the arrow. With this she taught Rika how to hit a moving target and always hit the target. She also taught Rika how to apply the elements to her arrows. Rika was moving along perfectly.

One night Alexis woke up to Rika screaming “MOM! DAD! NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!” Alexis knew it was a bad nightmare but knew Rika would be embarrassed if she woke her. So Alexis went over to Rika and picked her up. She sat there and rocked Rika back and forth and sung a bedtime song. She was also doing magic to change Rika’s bad dream to a good one. But she couldn’t tell what Rika was now dreaming. In truth Rika’s dream was changed to one that Rika loved. It was a dream that Alexis was holding and rocking her to sleep. It was also really happening. The Sensei and pupil had become like mother and daughter over the time of training, and this was proof. When Rika woke up in the mourning, she was in the arms of a sleeping Alexis leaning against a wall. She was so happy, that she went back to sleep.
The next day she woke up to the same smell of pancakes as always. When she got up to eat Alexis said, “Today I thought we’d do some fun training. How about I teach you how to control elements midair?”
“You mean like the fire when you cook?!?” asked Rika excited.
“Yep.” said Alexis while smiling.
“Yes!!” shouted Rika excitedly.
“Ok, first thing is simple. Just like all magic you have to see it in your head. First imagine a water ball mid air. Then think its real and concentrate on making it real.” said Alexis.
Rika, who has had so much practice by this point on focusing, got it on her first try.
“Good now fire.” said Alexis. Rika did that too. Then wind, and earth. “Your doing great! You got it all right on the first try!” said Alexis happily.
“Hay sensei, you have been teaching me for about a year so far, right?” asked Rika.
“That’s right.” said Alexis.
“Why is the magic you’ve been teaching me so different from other magic’s I’ve seen?” asked Rika.
“Because this isn’t normal magic. This is one of the strongest lost magic’s. Creation magic, were you make things right out of your mind. You need a strong imagination and a pure belief that it will work to use it. Which is why its so unheard of and wasn’t even used by the resistance. Only one person could make it work.” said Alexis.
“Lost magic, creation magic, just who are you!?!” asked Rika.
“You’ll have to wait until you can beet me.” said Alexis.
“And who else can use creation magic?” asked Rika.
“That’s another secret you’ll have to wait to find out.” said Alexis.
Rika sighed. “Fine, but WHEN I win, you have a lot of explaining to do.” said Rika confident.
“Gladly, when that day comes. And IF it comes.” said Alexis.
Alexis took Rika to a city a few miles away that was under the protection of 3 members of the disbanded resistance. She was teaching Rika mind reading. “You have to focus on that persons mind, and think about them, and what they seem like, and then you have to see past the barriers of there body to there mind.” said Alexis. As Rika focused Alexis said, “We aren’t in the middle of a city for you to try and read my mind. Focus on someone else, you aren’t getting through my barrier.” said Alexis. She pointed to a bakery across the street. “See the baker in the window tell me what he is thinking.” said Alexis. After two hours Rika said, “He is thinking that maybe making he should make banana bread a special tomorrow since he made too much of it.”
“You did it! It took you a while but you did it! I’m so proud!” said Alexis. Then they went home for the night the next day Alexis taught Rika how to protect her own mind. “You have to think of one thing and one thing only. If you can focus without getting distracted I cant get in and read your mind or take it over.” said Alexis. It took Rika two weeks to keep Alexis’s mind out. In the end Rika said, “What did you think of my block?”
“It was interesting. I’ve never seen anyone else use their worst memory as a block. I guess since you cant forget it, its unbreakable.” said Alexis. Rika had used the memory of her dead parents as a block. The next day Alexis taught Rika how to talk inside of your head. It took her only an hour to get it so Alexis took Rika back to that town and told her, “If you want to control someone’s mind you have to read their thoughts, and then whip their thoughts out and put yours in.” It took her three day to get it right. After another year Rika perfected her mind training and since she had kept up on her physical training, she was an expert at all of them. But she still knew she couldn’t beat Alexis. The next year Alexis taught her how to change your appearance with magic. “Imagine yourself and then make the changes in your mind and try and make them real.” It took the whole year to get it right and she spent two months of the next year on flight training for when she made herself her wings. She spent the rest of that year learning how to use magic herbs and stones.
One day Rika turned to Alexis in the mourning and asked, “Since I’m getting stronger, can we start traveling and fighting real monsters?”
At that Alexis looked sad. She looked at Rika and said, “Its time you took me on in a fight.” Rika was shocked. She must be kidding, but one look at Alexis’s face and Rika could tell she wasn’t. They got out into the valley they had always trained at and started with a battle of the minds. Alexis won but Rika regained enough control of her body to fight the physical battle. They flew, Swam in a lake that Alexis created mid battle, and even sword fought, but in the end Alexis one by an ounce. Alexis and Rika went inside and healed themselves up with the medical herbs. Afterwards Alexis said, “You haven’t beat me so I cant tell you everything but I can tell you this much, you’ve gotten strong. Strong enough to take revenge on that monster who got your parents. Even strong enough to lead a new resistance. And I’m setting you free to do as you wish from this day forward. You have passed your training.” said Alexis.
“Great! Now we can set out and take out the monsters!” said Rika.
“Correction, you can. I cant. If I leave this cave for more than a week I will die.” said Alexis.
“What! Why!?!?” shouted Rika.
“Because when I was younger I was a strong wizard, but I caught a lethal illness with no cure. So I came to this cave to stop my ageing until I find a cure.” said Alexis.
“What do you mean stop your ageing?” asked Rika.
“Haven’t you noticed that you haven’t aged at all in the last three years? Its not because of me, it’s the cave and its magic time freezing spring. We can freeze time if we want but we have to be concentrating and healthy to do that. You can figure out how on to do that on your journey. Take care and follow your dreams with the magic I’ve taught you. And don’t forget to take this with you.” said Alexis as she handed Rika a crystal ball on a chain. “It’s a shield. It can protect an entire country if it needs to. But the shield comes out of your own power so be careful with it.”
“Thank you Alexis. You have raised me all these years. Even if I never changed, I grew up. Ill find a cure for your illness and come back someday. But I think ill start a resistance first and take down Valdora first. Just like my sensei before me. Right Alexis Magic.” said Rika while smiling.
“You finally figured it out.” said Alexis with a grin.
“You cant leave this cave because you got ill while leading the resistance 20 years ago. Now ill start a resistance in the new era and take down the one man you didn’t have time too. Ok, sensei?” said Rika with a bright smile and a determined look on her face.
Tears of joy fell down Alexis’s cheeks as she said, “You grew up well my young apprentice.”
“I was raised by the best. After all, my sensei is also my second mom.” said Rika with a smile as she left.
“Take care.” said Alexis as she left. “Take care my daughter.”
