Interesting Specimen: Carbink

Due to a recent bit of news regarding a newly revealed Legendary Pokemon, I’ve decided to do a special Interesting Specimen post that is apparently related to the Pokemon in question. And it’s a Pokemon that I’ve largely ignored until now. Presenting one of the new Fairy-type Pokemon of Generation 6, Carbink.

I never really paid all that much attention to Carbink when it was revealed. It didn’t have an evolved form, and its stats seemed to indicate that it was a primarily defensive Pokemon. But with the recent news related to this Pokemon, I decided to give it a second look. Carkbink is actually a fairly interesting Pokemon. These creatures are born from the heat and pressures deep underground, and they seem to spend the first few million years of their lives asleep. One has to wonder if they dream during that time.

In the Games: The only place to find Carbink within X and Y is inside an area known as Reflection Cave. They’re a fairly rare Pokemon that appear at or around level twenty-three. As far as stats go, Carkbink has high defense and special defense stats. While all its other stats are pretty mediocre. That’s pretty much the main reason why I’ve ignored Carbink up until now. I’m more into offensive Pokemon.

A Legendary Connection: And now we come to the main reason why I’m doing a post on Carbink. It’s been revealed that the new Legendary Pokemon known as Diancie is actually a Carbink that’s gone through a strange and sudden mutation. Now it’s unknown if this transformation is some kind of strange Pokemon evolution, or if it’s something else entirely. Whatever it is, this is the first time that a Legendary Pokemon has had a confirmed connection to a non-Legendary one. As far as the relationship between Carbink and Diancie goes, the Carbink seem to perceive Diancie as some kind of queen or princess.

That pretty much covers it for this post. Until next time.
